Like the first book, this is a pretty good read and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series. Transport 2 is a generic read and sometimes predictable but it's originality is refreshing. It's sort of stupid to use predictable and refreshing in the same sentence but if military style sci-fi is what you like then this should itch that scratch (yes I said it backwards just seeing if you're paying attention).

As for the rating it bounces between 2.5 and 3.5. As for a review there's plenty to read here on Goodreads.

You have got to be joking!

20 years after arriving and other than returning to Mars to blow up the sphere there, no one thought to look for a more hospitable world?! And the best name that they could come up with is New California after suddenly remembering the name of the first\oldest settlement on Earth?! This is a colony of mainly scientists and soldiers and no body misses steak enough that they don't think to ask the sphere to find them another earth-like planet, but they are smart enough to refine oil and forge metal. One person dies in 20 years and the drugs they have last that long. This has to be the luckiest, most graceful bunch of people ever. Not a klutz among them and no one gets eaten\dissolved by the numerous acid spitting creatures that populate this planet. And the ending, well that is so unbelievable as to be laughable! I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, but this was such a let down, I can't believe that I actually read it all the way to the end.

Great second book on how things are working out for the stranded team. There is an open end, so part three definitely coming.

Tedious work to read this story

The extreme details and nuances in this novel made it hard to enjoy. I recommend the first book over the sequel.

Interesting, not as good as book 1

The writing of characters and background was OK. The story moved a little slowly and the native ecosystem seemed unbalanced. The story seemed fast in other ways. The colonists were involuntary and not trained or equipped for the role but the crisis was less interesting than the twenty year history would have been.

There are plenty of predators but no prey species. If all the predators use squirting acid to dissolve prey, there wouldn't seem to be much need for an arsenal of teeth and claws in predator species. The effect on the continent in which the colony was planted, when all predator species were destroyed is not considered.

There was much technical discussion but the characters seemed clueless, especially awkward since a number were military engineers.

Going to read number 3, because I liked the first Transport book and Flight 39. I didn't think this was as good as either of them.

I enjoyed the first book and frankly I didn't see this as a series. The first book stands on its own. To me, the first book was an interesting take on what I'd call a first contact situation, even though there was no alien contact to speak of. This book isn't as original in its handling of what is the typical survival story. Then at the end, Deus Ex Machina, and we are left hanging for the next book in the series. Still a good read but some may be disappointed after reading the first in the series.

Definitely not as good as the first one. It has very long and boring passages, they are constantly fighting those monsters and just travel --Spoiler Alert-- One single time using the Sphere.

It has nothing left of the excitement of the first book, where they were constantly traveling to new and exciting planets.

I had to push through to finish it, now I've read reviews of the third book, that it suppose to be more like the first one, but I am still hesitant to give it a try. Maybe pick it up in a sale later on.

I enjoyed the first book and looked forward to the author pulling on the portal thread but unfortunately in T2 we really say good bye to the portal and instead are treated to a weird survival story with a ton of unnecessary technical book-splaining. It just felt forced and super contrived. Would have liked to seen Peterson take it outwards and explore the unlimited realms of the portal network! How far does it go? Where are the limits?

A car battery does not have plugs

This carries on a very well thought out tale of travel through the galaxy but with a new method.
The group from part one are. Stranded on a fairly hostile planet with another 40 or so they stranded.
New and unique ideas.
My joke in the title is..... Study a little basic mechanics. A corn cob will not block steering on a jeep.🙃

It was supposed to be about a transporter that can bring all over the galaxy. Instead its a boring story about a few people stranded somewhere and the struggles of farming, broken Jeeps and blowing things up. And imagine: if you have a live full of hard labour you will become super healthy, have a sixpack and never die.

So these people have brand new colony where they can make any decisions and set up any government they want but decide domestic violence is still okay?

I'm really torn about this series now, instead of a series of adventures on other planets it's about a boring colony with boring two dimensional characters and I'm not sure I care what happens to them now.

I enjoyed the first Transport and looked forward to reading this book. Unfortunately the writing style changed. The story became part soap opera. There is still some excitement, but it the same thing over and over - wotan overload.

This whole series has been an exciting adventure that was thrilling from start to finish. I am so glad I had the opportunity to spend the time to read and ponder the story. Well done, my friend...

Hm, the sequel did not fully live up to my expectations. Well written, but I tend to get disillusioned once generals and the military enters the stage and it all becomes just another Hollywood movie - just in a different (sci-fi) setting. Sorry.

the first one was far better, because it was based on a very interesting idea. this one, however, hast a different story, it's more about survival on an alien planet. and to be honest - i was bored, and i didn't even bother to finish this book.

I really enjoyed the first book. The plot in the second book has a ridiculous logical error. Most of the book evolves without any "transport" even though this is the easiest avenue to explore. The story feels forced. The "transport" is used as a deus ex machina effect. Quite disappointing.
