Her Alien Protector

Rate this book
Falling in love with a prisoner was against the rules.

So why was Lark allowing herself to get close to Raynor? He was domineering, cocky and much too handsome for his own good. Though her mind found him unbearable, her body was ready to endure anything he could deliver. However, inside of him lived a darkness unlike anything she’d ever witnessed. If the rumors were true, that darkness would consume any and everyone in its path. Lark was going to try her best to stay out of his way.

They called him The Destroyer.

Raynor Batiste was many things: a monster, a killer, one of the most feared creatures in the galaxy. He was a beast whose name sent shudders through his enemies. However, a prisoner he was not. He’d only allowed himself to be captured so he could get close to his mate, Lark Valdese.

That task was proving harder than he’d anticipated. Lark is afraid of what lives inside of him, and she should be. Yet, when her planet comes under attack, the evil lurking within him may be the only thing that can save her and her people. He’s willing to protect her planet, but his aid comes at a price, a price only Lark can pay.

Will Beauty give in to the Beast in order to save her world? Or will she learn that the monster inside of him is the reason her planet is being destroyed?

**This is a sensual BWWM Sci-Fi Romance for adults only.**

Hi, my name is Siren Allen. I’m a writer and lover of all things erotic and romantic. I reside in southern Mississippi where I write steamy romances that are guaranteed to make you blush. When I’m not listening to the characters in my head and jotting down their adventures, I am busy working as a Clinical Laboratory Technician.

I love to travel, preferably with my husband, so he can do all of the driving. I enjoy time with my family, who are just as silly as I am. I have no children…yet, wish me luck! My hobbies are reading, writing and shopping, though I hate trying on clothing. If I wasn’t a writer or a Laboratory Professional, I would probably be a Secret Agent. But that’s the beauty of being a writer; you can create your own world and be whoever you want to be. In my imaginary world, I am Queen and my siblings are my minions.

So, I am a big scifi & paranormal book lover. I truly did love this book and Raynor, I absolutely adored....he is totally going in my BBC (book boyfriend collection) and I am calling dibs right now. His mate Lark (I say wish disdain and loathing), I absolutely loathed. I felt to sorry that he was stuck with such a self centered bit$& of a mate. Very rarely does a character piss me off....but she wow unbelievable....and that is not a compliment. Worst mate ever...literally.

So, Lark and her sisters run a "harem" aka a brothel on their planet. Prisoners from other planets can either go to prison or do their time at the brothel, where they will be enhanced for customer satisfaction.

Lark's 1st offense: Raynor goes there to get his mate, so why he is in a cell he can smell that his mate is with someone else, how is that for a slap in the face. She is with her lover Ana, now there is never any "penetration" with the lovers and since Lark did not know he was her mate......so I was able to mostly forgive this.

Lark's 2nd offense: But then her empire so to speak is under attack, when Raynor is trying to save her once again, she ends up picking Ana over him and shoots him, not once but 3 freaking times....wtaf. So, she does that and Ana turns out to be very untrustworthy. So, he forgives her dumb a$$ again....because she is his mate and they only have 1 true mate....so he is stuck with her....my poor Raynor.

Lark's 3rd offense: So after my sweet warrior Raynor saves her worthless selfish a$$ again and all of her people, she proceeds to tell her friend that she doesn't want him to claim her because he is a monster, he hears her and is heartbroken. She continually throughout the book puts him down, when he literally a great person and way, way to good for her, it's like kicking a puppy, it should not be done and I like puppies. After this time, he agrees to stay with her for her people, but nothing between them....good for him taking up for himself, because nobody should ever have to put up with that type of mental abuse.

She ends up really regretting being a bit$% and finally, finally comes to her senses towards the last maybe 12% of the book. Both of these 2 are virgins, so I also loved that. Raynor is a vampire and on his planet they save themselves for their true love.....seriously dibs. Seriously, if I didn't adore Raynor so much and absolutely love the book itself I may have given this less stars because of how awful Lark was. But this really was a great book and Siren Allen really is an author I enjoy, my first book by this author but already read another one....so I am an official fan and who else besides a really good author could write characters that make you that mad. I look forward to reading her 2 sisters books, surely they can't all be mean.

I’ll start by saying I am not a fan of sci-fi literature, but this book has made it impossible for me to put it down. The author has one hell of an imagination, a quirky sense of humor and her writing is sizzling hot! I loved the way she weaved this story, revealing the characters bit by bit. Lark is a strong, determined woman who can stand her ground in front of everything and everyone. As for Raynor... The author totally convinced me he is the hottest creature in the entire Universe. We have great writing, a lot of steamy sex and a powerful plot to tie it all together in one amazing story. Highly recommended!

Oh my stars, I loved this book! I have to admit I was not expecting such an in depth story line. A solar system inhabited with not your typical otherworldly beings. Lark and Raynor's love story was certainty not a cookie cutter romance. Their road to love was filled with hang-ups, heart break and tragedy that they both had to navigate with little direction. Lark was certainly not the usual heroin, and her tragic past severely effected how she interacted with everyone around her. Yes she acted like a total b**** towards Raynor in some situations but that's what made her character more tangible. A scarred woman who was afraid, of her past and this new intimate future with our hero. And Raynor put his heart on the line every time and I loved him for it. His interesting brand of charming innocence yet alpha maleness made you fall for him. He was desperate to fight for anything that they could have together despite Lark's fear driven resistance. I can not wait for the next book, this series has now become a favorite.

Don't be fooled by this one's cover ladies. It is a definite worth it sci-fi romance in between. The cover actually reminds me of the covers of books I read back in the early 80's. I overlooked em then and I still do today. LOL

Ok, so I don't review often. Usually I am too busy reading the next book to be bothered with sharing my opinion (particularly when it often seems like the whole world has done so already) but in this case I had to take a pause, look up the author, message her on Facebook begging for the sequel (which this book says will come out this year WOOHOO) and finally come here and give my opinion. Especially, now seeing how few opinions are already there, I feel like maybe my post might make a difference for some reader out there looking for a great new read.

First, I came across this book by searching goodreads for sci-fi prison romances that would be like Hold by Claire Kent. This was not that. It's blurb made it clear that it wasn't that. Still, it's blurb caught my attention, inexplicably as I have been off vampires for a while now, and when I went to Amazon and lo and behold it was on kindle unlimited. Which for someone who reads anywhere from 2 to six books a day on any given day is a fabulous deal. Even if you read far less than me it pays for itself easily. Anyway, unlimited and attention getting, I downloaded it into my queue and today it was book number three.

Honestly this would have been a five star read for me, had it not been for the occasional editing error. I have seen far worse out there. There have even been some I wouldn't finish (which anyone who knows me will tell you I almost never do).

There was no chance of my putting this one down. The fresh take on vampires was awesome. I have an on again off again vampire romance going on. Alien vampires catch my interest because you have a shot at some originality being infused into the old tropes. This was one of those cases. A curse, a blessing and a man. The unholy trinity of the Kaipur Belt vampires was an engaging twist.

High tech sun solutions two thumbs up. Especially where minimal over-explanation is done. This author doesn't trod on the willing suspension of disbelief by explaining science she doesn't know. For some people that's a no no. In a pure sf book I get touchy about it myself. In a romance I feel there's a lot of latitude here and I'd rather you make no explanation than spout science that is bad. There were only two instances of that in this book and the story and characters were so engaging that I forgave them enough as I was reading that I don't remember what they were to give them here.

Raynar just plain rocked. He was super sweet and innocent without any whiny Louis-ness that would have turned me off. I loved that he wasn't the asshole in the relationship. So many romance novels are back handedly guy bashing while the heroine forgives and forgives until she redeems him. While I love a beauty and the beast romance, the insipid female who takes the hits and keeps coming back for more gets old.

Then you have Lark, who is emotionally stunted (due to eventually fully spelled out backstory) and no less innocent but far less well adjusted than her true mate (R knows who and what he is, how others perceive him and his people and what really matters in the face of all that). She is the bitch of the piece, but I can't hate her. I hated R's feelings being hurt. However, other than one instance, his feelings are hurt by things out of her control or understanding. And the author does a good job of justifying that one instance in light of Lark's history, the action of the scene surrounding her bitch choice, and her genuine and immediate misgivings and remorse.

Finally, I was really satisfied with the end. I didn't feel like I was left dangling. I didn't feel like it went on and on after a successful conclusion. No hanging cliffs and a little prescient preview of happy ever after. Well done!!

A side note, the inclusion of scenes in the book regarding both the sisters and their true mates were tantalizing and while Luna's did seem to step out of the streamline of the story, Lola's did not at all. I'm so eager for book two that I literally had to message to ask the author when it was coming.

mmm…

I am a fan of Siren A. Have her books in my library. Let’s just say I loved and disliked this book at the same time. Lark was straight up rude. Especially in the first few chapters I was put off by her attitude and just how she was as a character and that dislike for her carried throughout the entire book. (Yes, I understand her past traumas with her friend and her family as well as her parents but she was just too much.) She carried that hate, hurt, and anger and I felt like she was dumping that in Raynor when all he did was show and prove to her that he loved and will always protect her. Even when she doesn’t deserve it.

I’m giving it 4 stars because although I do not like Lark this book doesn’t deserve to suffer cause my dislike for one character. Also grammar, spelling, and vocabulary usage at points were a little off.

I’m debating on whether or not to finish this. (Decided to not). This is absolutely a terrible beginning to a book for me that I have read in a long time. I’m pissed about the descriptions. Like are there any? Does it get better as I get more into the book? MMC has pale skin with dark eyes and hair. All I’ve got so far for the FMC is that her eyes glow red and black hair cut into a bob. While I’m on the FMC, this has to be one of the most grating characters that absolutely doesn’t deserve anything good. I haven’t read a character like that in a long time. I absolutely despised her and didn’t want her wasting the MMC time. Shame on all the other reviews that gave this book positive reviews because we obviously read two different things. Lol! (Tears) I trusted y’all man!

If I could give negative stars I would.

I couldn't finish this because nothing pisses me off more, hen it comes to books, is author not spelling out the type of story it is. I guess my idea of sensual and the authors is quite a bit different.
There is vulgarity and it's smutty.

I wouldn't be able to root for or have any respect for the woman who is a lead in this book. I can't even think of her as an heroine. actually all the women are some sick chicks. The whole of what I read was disgustingly sick.
I am so sick of black women representing black women in this way.

God, when will things change.
This author will go on my NO WAY IN HELL list.

3 & 1/2 stars rounded up.
I enjoyed this book. It started off a bit slow, but picked up speed & held my interest enough that I stayed up too late to finish the book. The characters, Lark & Raynor are interesting, they are not very likable at the beginning, but by the end, I warmed up to them, especially Raynor (wow, he's the reason I kept reading). But Lark isn't really likable until the last few chapters. The world building was decent, it could have been improved the story if there were a few clarifications of the world building in places. The editing was atrocious.

The worst female lead EVER!! *Spoliers*

This book had the potential to be really good but I could not STAND the female lead! I stopped reading the book after she shot the male lead 3x, once in the head, for her female lover after he just saved her ungrateful behind from being gang raped!! At that point I was done! I loved the male lead but felt so sorry for him cause he kept forgiving her,no matter what she did! Honestly, I think he was better off without her even if it meant death

He turned up, as a prisoner sent by her sister to join the planet's harem. She had never been attracted to a male before, but even in the event of feeding of her former head guard, his scent caught and held her.
How could it be? He was a vampire, not someone would want to mate with surely!
Yeah, it was complicated and then turned downright uncivil. How, well that's where you need to read the author's rendition of this tale. It's well worth the effort.

Aliens worlds

Took a little while to get into the book but once the adventures started it was hard to put down. Lark is a complicated female with history that effects her sex life, a vampire is a complication she doesn’t cope well with. However the vampire is her mate and they muddle towards a happy ending

Her Alien Protector

One word....interesting. Was a little slow getting started but after a chapter or two there was an even flow to the story. Would recommend this to those who are into this genre. Good book.

This book shows you that you can still have a Happy Ever After even when you have been damaged by things in your past. It is a hopeful story of struggling to find a way to your soulmate through fears, misunderstandings and mistakes. It is the first book in a well written series.

Surprisingly superb read

I was not expecting to be so enthralled in the world which the author,Siren Allen, has created . But I was. Neither did I expect to be drawn to the three sisters, Luna, Lola and finally Lark, the heroine of the novel. Furthermore, in our first meeting with the hero, he is eating the head of another character - a huge turn-off. The plot is exciting, full of suspense and top it off the are touches of unexpected humour and comedy with sexy names such as Delbert - the Lark's opinion not mine. Throughout the novel the reader is put on an emotional rollercoaster ride which I thoroughly enjoyed. Some minor typographical errors but not enough to spoil this engaging read. Surprisingly entertaining, superb plot and super characters. I highly recommend this book.

Siren Allen's "Her Alien Protector" is the first tale in The Beasts From Beyond series. I loved it! I almost never give straight 5-star reviews, but this earned one from me! I love the mythology, the trust issues, it's a real push and pull. The sexy scenes were amazing, but more than that, the chemistry the entire time was just off the charts. I like the stories of the three sisters and can't wait to read the rest of the series!

This was an enjoyable story marred by a very obvious lack of editing. If you can handle errors (ie sparing instead of sparring, was and were confusion) then definitely a recommend. This just went over my error limit and that cost it half a star. It's worth reading but I know some of my friends have lower error threshold than I do.

A solar system of strange beings including a Vampire looking for his life-long mate and a stroppy, headstrong woman from Venus (where else?). A fun read with strong characters. Add to that humour and some eroticism and you have a book that will keep you turning the pages.

This was an action packed story that made the reader feel, see, smell, touch, and taste the world the author created. The romances between the characters are swoon worthy. I can't wait for the next books!

This is a 3.5 due to the action, the love story part wasn't so great. The heroine kept making dumb mistakes.
