I had to break his heart so he'd realize his dream.
Before Noah became a superstar quarterback, he was my best friend and the love of my life. College sweethearts, true soulmates, I knew we'd be together forever. Maybe that's why our carelessness didn't seem like such a big deal.
Love isn't supposed to hurt, so when Noah started to fail because of me, walking away was the only option. It felt like the right thing to do.
A year later, I have to face him at his sister's wedding and he'll find out the truth. He used to love me. That's got to count for something, right? The problem is, I didn't just break his heart.
I kept something from him so huge that I didn't know if he would ever forgive me. I just knew that I had a lot of making up to do. In and out of the bedroom.
Author's Note: ***This book is steamy wet your panties hot and it is a love story. Have no fear there is no cliffhanger, cheating and it has a happy ending.***
International bestselling author Stephanie Brother writes high heat love stories with a hint of the forbidden. Since 2015, she’s been bringing to life handsome, flawed heroes who know how to treat their women. If you enjoy stories involving multiple lovers, including twins, triplets, stepbrothers, and their friends, you’re in the right place. When it comes to books and men, Stephanie truly believes it’s the more, the merrier.
She spends most of her day typing, drinking coffee, and interacting with readers.
Her books have been translated into German, French, and Spanish, and she has hit the Amazon bestseller list in seven countries.
Please remember that this is just my opinion and there are lots of high star ratings for this book. What works for one reader doesn't always do it for another and unfortunately this book didn't do it for me.
First of all, the positives~ I really liked the synopsis. The hero, Noah, was a likeable, sweet character. The whole idea with lots more character development would have made an excellent book I think. The less appealing aspects imo.... The heroine, Ava, seemed a bit of a contradiction in terms. One minute she was all innocent and naive then she was wearing a crotchless fishnet underwear/ nightie and gyrating round a bed post for Noah. She seemed to give up on Noah very easily when they split. Just to say that the story would benefit from some editorial help. The whole book is an extremely quick read but it felt so rushed. It does have a nice HEA and there is no cheating. If you like college based, second chance romances with sporty hotties and secret babies then this is right up your street.
***This book is steamy wet your panties hot and it is a love story... WRONG!!
This book, is probably the worst Ive read all year! The storyline - poorly written Couldn't stand Ava, the heroine - Split personalities? No connection, no chemistry. Unlikeable characters.
This book wasn't bad but...it wasn't great. Actually, there wasn't much to it. I'm not saying it was short, but I kept feeling like things were missing. We didn't see how the couple met, we didn't see them get together....ok, I can deal with them already being a couple. But then, when they broke up, we never saw a confrontation. And since it was all for her POV, we never saw how he reacted. And speaking of that breakup, the book pulled a New Moon and she stayed in bed for 6 weeks, doing nothing but sleeping because she was so depressed. But ok, I can deal with that too...
...but what I really had issues with was the lack of anything else in the story. I mean, she found out she was pregnant, told her family and after a short burst of drama...nothing! She decides to move away and we skip to her seventh month of her pregnancy, and then to three months after she's given birth. Now, I'm not saying I want the nitty-gritty of the pregnancy, or the birth or having a new born, but there was nothing. No indication as to what her life was like while pregnant, or as a single mother of a newborn or anything.
And then when the reunion happens, and he finds out about the baby...you guessed it...very little drama. I was expecting some initial anger at him seeing her, especially after the way she broke up with him. But as soon as they saw each other, they were exchanging "I love yous" and falling into bed. There was some anger over the hidden baby part, but that was also very minor.
I guess I was just left feeling like a lot of the story was left out.
This is a 2nd chance romance that is about two friends who were friends forever and ended up becoming boyfriend/girlfriend. Somehow they ended up broke up and the girl has a secret that she is going to tell the ex at the wedding she is attending of her good friend who happens to be the sister to her ex boyfriend. Interested? I was and it was an interesting story of Ava and Noah who were BFF from the time they were young until they became boyfriend and girlfriend as they entered high school. Things changed when Ava’s dad married Noah’s mother Michelle. She is the villainess in the whole story..The turning point happens on prom night and that is when the twists and turns start coming from this point on. Noah and Ava have this young love thing going on but I have to say when Noah finds out Ava’s secret, he sort of lost it. I can understand why but I felt so bad for Ava. I would totally be on the lookout for my mom and be ready to hunt her down. Just saying.. I did like the ending but it felt rushed. Overall this is a good quick read.
My rating: 4.0 stars **** **I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review***
I'm sure this book will call to some people; it wasn't for me, not even a little bit... The characters were horrible, the dialogue was horrible, the situations were horrible and so unbelievable, I felt like these kids were in elementary school.... the kids AND the parents! The parents were almost as bad... and the sex... oooh the sex was bad.... he taste like big salty corn dog? And she couldn't get enough of it? Seriously!?! Pleeeeease someone tell me that was supposed to be sarcasm or a joke or something... not a real description. I skimmed mostly but blah.... not for me... not evena little bit. Also; it ends halfway through the book so if you're hoping for a full lenghter; this is not it.
Ugh. First off, let's address that they were never college sweethearts. They dated in high school. Based on the title you know she got pregnant and the story gets worse from there. Well, it was never actually good. This book needs a serious edit. There were so many punctuation and grammatical errors that it was hard to read.
Ava was not a strong character and basically bitches out one of her friends (who happens to be pg with twins) that she has the support but Ava does not. Uh, what? You didn't show up to work for like 2 weeks and then moved in with grandma and grandpa because you didn't know what to do. I know she's young but I couldn't stand her immaturity.
Will not be reading any more books by this author.
It was okay. Noah's mother hates Ava and does everything she can to keep them apart. Michelle wants Noah to become a NFL star and give all of his money to her. Then Ava gets pregnant. What happens now?
The Quarterback's Baby: A Secret Baby Sports Romance (Kindle Edition)
Ava and Noah were best friends since they were young. He would comfort her when her mother said she was going to pick her up and didn't. He would sneak over and crawl into her bed and just be there for her even when he was so young.
They went from friends forever to boyfriend and girlfriend as they entered high school. "The girl he’d loved since he’d moved in across the street when he was five."
Along the way, Ava's dad remarried, Michelle, Noah's mother.
She made the "Wicked Witch of the West" look like a sweet as pie, cookie baking , Brownie Troop leader who also volunteered her time at the soup kitchen and visiting elderly shut ins.
Every chance she got she was always trying to get to Ava. Nobody was going to derail the life she planned for her son. Ava didn't stand a chance against Michelle's treatment of her, as Ava's dad was gone on the road for work- even more than before they married.
Prom night and Ava's excited for it and bought a seriously, saweet dress. Michelle even tried to make her feel bad about her dress choice makes her self conscious, beneath her.
“Don’t you think that your dress is too revealing?”...“Well, you know Noah loves class and not cheap, so, let’s hope he feels the same way.”
Ava's self-esteem is just about nil at this point.
Prom night turns out to be a pivotal moment in their relationship. Graduation and college football await Noah, while Ava will work with her uncle as a realtor.
Noah's mom finally got to Ava and she steps aside thinking she's in the way of his football career. Noah wanted her to talk to him after the game, but she's so convinced his bad playing was her doing, she asks her dad if they could just leave.
When Noah doesn't get in touch she doesn't understand how he didn't try to fight for her. She's been handling things poorly and didn't even realize six weeks had passed with her out of it.
A major incident has Grandma peeved enough to step in and Ava finds comfort at a new address. It's been about a year when Ava attends the wedding of Noah's older sister.
Will she be forgiven for thinking it better for him and his football career to not tell him all that has happened in that time?
Do they stand a chance or is he with someone?
When exactly does Noah get to learn he is a father?
This was a story of a great love and poor examples of parents on both Noah and Ava's side. I wanted to hug Ava and build her up, congratulate Noah for being so good to and for Ava (for the most part). Ava's dad should have his head examined, and Noah's mom should be....?
You tell me "what Noah's mom should be" after you read the story.
P.S. I am big enough to admit... I lost patience and understanding. My answer to "should be" involves me leaving my shed door open and a shovel ready. Wonder how many people would be fighting for the use of it first? Do I have to hire a valet service? Where would I get the parking room?
Seriously though... Thankfully, Stephanie Brother didn't drag the angst out any more than necessary. Even thinking it may be so, had me walking away from my kindle for a time.
*** Received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review *** The story is very impressive and entertaining with the right amount of emotional and drama to keep the reader anxious to turn the pages. This is the story of Ava and Noah, a long-time childhood friends then turn step-sibling and I'm going to say that Michelle (Noah's mother need her butt kick as well as the absentee dad....The story has a great flow and the characters really come to life even with the twist and turns and lack of communication between the two. Even the side characters are so well developed that you are anxious to know their story. Now I will not leave any spoilers because I want you to read it for yourself! It's A good read!
Overall I liked the book. I felt it was a bit rushed and more could have been added to the story. It ended abruptly, imo, but I am not the author. The characters were well written and I did enjoy the love between Noah and Ava and I wanted to read more of their story together. The main part that bothered me was Noah's under reaction to finding out she hid his baby from him. They never discussed what happened the year they were a part, or never worked through all that, it was just erased. The stepmom and dad story also left a lot to the imagination. It was a good read, I just wish there was more to it! I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Noah and Ava were not only best friends they were also lovers, and step siblings. But Noah's mom wanted more for him. All they wanted to do was be together. So after one night of unprotected sex Ava becomes pregnant. Not wanting Noah to give up on his dreams she moves out west and keeps the baby a secret. After months of not seeing him she goes back home for his sisters wedding to come face to face with the man she's always loved. This time she's packing a secret and is scared to death to see how he'll react!
Great read that was a little too short for my liking but all in all if was a good book!
This is an emotional rollercoaster of love in two stories of teenage pregnancy. The first one is about Noah and Ava. They have known and loved each other forever. Their parents get married and Noah's mother is evil. Things happen and she tries to keep them apart once he goes off to college. Ava doesn't tell Noah about having the baby since they were split up due to his evil mother. Goodness prevails and he finds out after their son is 3 months old. The second story is almost the same set up but he finds out about the baby before she is born. These are both cute love stories.
I have read a few other books by Stephanie previously and I had grown to like them a lot. This story wasn’t quite the same. I loved the idea of the storyline - especially with the secret baby and all, but I did feel like it was a bit rushed and went by way to quickly even though it was a quick read. There were a few mistakes here and there, particularly with different names for the same person, but overall I did kind of like it. It was a cute story with a HEA.

The Quarterback's Baby by Stephanie Brother is a quick story about falling in love and losing everything only to find it again when you least expect it. There is some angst, romance, secrets, self-esteem issues, verbal abuse, and of course a HEA.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really like the story, it was so very sweet! It started with childhood best friends and then became stepsiblings also young lovers. There are some bumps to block their beautiful young love, and some surprises to make their relationship so interesting, but it all come to a satisfying ending to make this story a perfect one. I Love It! I received an ARC in exchange for honest review.
Great for a weekend read... Cute story although the step mom needs to be throat punched but other than that really enjoyed this. Fast read with a happily ever what more could you ask for!
Ava was painfully insecure and too, too young... She was putty in the hands of the psycho stepmother and even Noah's love wasn't able to make ber stand up for them.
I usually love the secret baby trope but this is the first time I hated it. The author really brought up the worst of the trope: the regret caused by heroine's self sacrificing decision to keep the baby a secret. The hero was robbed of a say in the matter, thus losing out in milestones of the pregnancy and the baby's birth and life.
It wasn't like the hero was incommunicado or had all doors slammed in ber face. She made zero effort to tell him and in fact had not been sure she wanted to inform him, EVER.
Though this is a romance we had a HFN the sense of regret and loss was too big even the happy ending could not remove the sadness...
The love story of them from childhood was sweet as was her lovely grandparents. Thank goodness her father left the psychotic second wife... Mia and Noah never did explain why their mother skipped the wedding.

Excellent read, Could not put it down. Made me read till I was done. The wild adventure makes it a page turner and want to read everything this author has put to paper/ebook. I will always read what this author writes, it just lifts my heart and makes me smile.
Usually, when I see that a book has a lot of bad reviews I don't start reading it, but then I thought "hey, I love sports romance, especially football, and a secret baby? Let's give it a try!" I regret it very much now. First things first, let's start with the good things about it: can't think of any right now, so I'll get back to it. You know when you are telling your friend a gossip, but lunch time is almost over, so you have to really rush through it? That's the plot. It's reaaaaally rushed, like the author doesn't know exactly what she wants to include, and at the same time she wants to talk about everything. For example (and that's not really a spoiler), the first few chapters are all about Ava talking about how she couldn't wait to lose her virginity and then we never see the end of it. And there's so many other moments I don't want to give away in case you still want to go read the book. Also, it needs a grammar check, english is not my first language and even so I noticed so many mistakes, like "then" instead of "than". The characters were not very well constructed. Ava needs some feminism lessons and a therapist, and as much as she tried to give Noah some depth, it didn't work. To me, he sounded like one of those jocks in high school that wanted all the attention and thought they were the king of the world and people were obligated to please them.
Oh, and I'm not sure if it is a novel or a novela, can someone please tell me?
Another thing, (and that's a big spoiler alert), Mia says there's a reason why her mother didn't show up for the wedding, do we ever get to hear the reason why?
This novella follows Noah and Ava, best friends who grew up together and fall in love. After high school graduation their paths diverge. Noah is off to play college ball, destined for the NFL, and Ava is staying behind to sell real estate for her uncle. Long distance relationships are hard to maintain, especially when sabotage and insecurities are involved.
The book is the right size for an hour or two of reading. On the surface the book appears to be about young love torn apart by a meddling stepmother, but it’s really about trust and how vulnerable love can be without it. At their age, Ava and Noah are just learning these lessons. Usually, the stakes aren’t this high.
Did the time line seem off? It seems like it was a week or two from the prom, to graduation and Noah starting college classes. Based on language, I think the author is British, so perhaps she’s unfamiliar with how it works in America.
The story feels a little rushed and unfinished. Some polishing and maybe adding a few extra scenes would round it out, resolve open questions and make it a much more satisfying book.

I hate leaving bad reviews but unfortunately this book was terrible. It was more depressing then anything. They were together for like 3 chapters then apart almost the rest of the book. The step mother was a horrible person and the boyfriend didn't give a shit if they broke up even though they were soul mates and bla bla so on. So rushed and a lot of it didn't make sense and skipped around. A book about a secret baby should be that... about a secret baby. She didn't end up pregnant till like the last 4 chapters and the baby was never even talked about. I don't see how they ended a relationship just like that and don't see each other for a year? And after seeing each other again everything is right as rain. For me there was more questions then answer. I also thought it odd how Carly was her best friend but she wasn't even a bridesmaid or anything. The worst screw up is where the book is described it said she comes back for his sister's wedding... when it is I'm fact a friend's wedding. Not his sister's.
This book starts off a little differently from most step-brother romances--Ava and Noah are already dating and living together. They grew up as best friends and now that they are seniors in high school, they both know they are going to be together forever. Except they are far from a happily ever after when Ava lives with her wicked step-mother. When college starts, so does the drama, and not just between Ava and Noah, but also their parents. I don't want to give away a lot of details but, man would I not put up with Noah's mom! When Ava and Noah are reunited some time later, the drama continues! This is a very quick read with tons of drama and some intense scenes. The one thing that I didn't really like was how quickly Ava gave up Noah the first time around. If they were together for so long, you think she would have fought harder, but then again there might have been less drama that way.

This was a cute book with an interesting premise. It was pretty short and the forgiveness near the end was a little easy. Ava and Noah have lived across the street for years and they became the best of friends. Noah's mother and Ava's father end up getting married and they all move in together. Noah and Ava end up going from the best of friends to lovers. They are really good together and care a great deal for one another. Noah's mother Michelle is exceedingly protective of him and just wants him to succeed in football. She doesn't want any women or anything to get in the way of his dreams of being a professional quarterback. She has a tendency to be cruel and use Ava's self consciousness against her. He goes off to college at Princeton but the distance makes it hard and Michelle doing what she can to break them up. They break up and Ava ends up having their son without his knowledge.
I hate writing bad reviews.... This author knows nothing about football. Football is a fall sport, seniors would never be in the locker room right before prom, the last time they would of been in the locker room would of been December or November. Really good football players, who are smart and want to be pro football player would never, ever go to Princeton. Freshman quarterbacks starting the first game of the year, only if the regular quarterback got injured . Okay enough about what's wrong with the football... This relationship is so juvenile and there is no way it wouldn't fall apart. With how Noah's mom was portrayed, the two of them would of never trusted her and check with each other about anything to see what mom was up to.
Noah and Ava grew up best friends and neighbors. Noah's mother married Ava's father. They grew to love each other not as siblings but lovers. They made it known to there parents. Ava's father was okay with it. Noah's mother Michelle only wanted him to become a super star quarterback in the pros. Ava had insecurities and Damon's mother Michelle used them to drive Ava away. Ava goes away to her grandparents house while her dad worked out some stuff with Michelle. Ava finds out a huge secret that she's pregnant and it would never to be told Noah until the time was right. Noah finds out when Ava comes home for his sister's wedding. This was a great read. It has suspenseful moments and drama. With surprises and Romance. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Short but sweet story of Noah & Ava. Noah's mom, Michelle dated Ava's dad. But Michelle always discouraged the two of them being close. His mom had a dream of Noah playing pro football and a girlfriend would prevent that from happening. But Noah and Ava fell in love anyway. Circumstances complicated their relationship, Noah goes away to college and his sports career began to fumble. Michelle's dig at Ava's self esteem didn't help matters at all. So, when guilt became heavy, secrets were kept and hidden forces came into play. Very interesting to watch how all these elements played themselves out. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Four stars.
