4 Solid Stars
OK, so this is the second book in the series and as much as I liked it a lot, I really enjoyed the first book more! Reid and Dani were great characters BUT yeah, my love still wavers over Blake and Carly still.
Reid was very hard to truly connect with for me. He just had such a wall up and yet at times such as 37% into the story the damn burst and out came my tears. There were some truly heartfelt moments and yes he was always at the forefront of those tearful and yet beautiful moments. I loved his inner thoughts on both Dani and especially his son, they were so damn sweet. He was just a very hard character to fully connect with. I loved Dani BUT the ending of the story, she was a bit too forward for my h preferences as well. All in all, it was still a very good story especially of the side characters/stories.
There were just a few things I didn't care for in this story. For instance they years of separation, that's not my personal thing in my romance novels, I simply hate it. Sorry, I tend to shy away from the many years of separation between the H and the h because it does nothing for me but books like this one that had my interest peaked does tend to get me to branch out. I am glad I did but again, it just didn;t live up to my expectations and it didn't quite live up to the first book considering it was a slightly similar backstory.
I still love all of the secondary characters, they certainly add another level to these stories. I not only can't wait for Luke and tara's stories BUT hope to get a story on Dani's sister now as well:) Yes, I will be following this great group of characters in the future!

Profited is the second book in Lacey Black's Bound Together series, and I've been anxiously awaiting this book since we were introduced to a brooding, cold and closed-off Reid in the first book of this series, Submerged.

Having just graduated college, Reid Hunter has this one summer to travel before he settles into the corporate life he's been groomed for since birth. On his final weekend of freedom, he heads to Arizona with his friends for a music festival. It's there that he meets a woman named Dani, and his whole world is thrown off it's axis.
"Something magical happened that night we shared a tent.
Dani and Reid share an amazing night together, but when Reid wakes the next morning, she is gone. He didn't get her last name or her number, and unbeknownst to them both, Dani leaves with more than just the memories of that night. I really loved this book. Reid was so uptight in Submerged, and while he definitely could be cold here, he had his reasons. The heat between Dani and Reid was obvious from their first meeting, and eight years apart did nothing to cool that down at all. Lacey really peeled back Reid's layers, and as he was forced to examine his life and himself, he really endeared himself to me.
I loved everything about Profited - it was well developed and fast moving and so, so sexy. I felt Dani's heartbreak and Reid's desperation, and Lacey did a fabulous job portraying the emotion of those moments. I laughed, I cried, my heart filled with hope, and it broke as Lacey's words guided me through the roller-coaster of feels in this book!
As a fan of Lacey Black's since the beginning, I've loved everything she's written. This book was fantastic, and I am very anxious for the next book in this series! Great job, Lacey!

I’m wrong. I will be the first to admit.
When Lacey first discussed that she wanted to write a new series (WHAT? Something other than Rivers Edge? Say it ain’t so!!!), and she wanted the central focus to be on the “a magical one night stand that produces a baby, however the fathers don’t find out until later, much later – like after said baby is born”, I was skeptical. Oooh so skeptical.
I mean seriously, how many variations of the ‘one night stand/surprise pregnancy’ can there honestly be? How many different reasons could you have to love’em and leave’em?
Lacey pulled it off swimmingly when she released Submerged, the first book in the Bound Together trilogy. But let’s face it, if you’ve read the book, you know that Blake and Carly’s daughter is a little bit over a year old when Blake finds out. Yes time was lost while Blake was undercover, but Natalia will likely not suffer because she met her Dad while still in her formative years.
But in Profited, we get Reid’s story. You might remember him as Carly’s stiff, powerful and might I say, money hungry boss in Submerged. He’s also the older brother to Tara, Carly’s best friend.
So sticking with the theme, naturally he has a one night stand, but this whopper happens nine years earlier. Yup, Reid was just a baby himself, fresh from college and ready to take over the world. So why not have that last hoorah?
Fast forward nine years, and well, SURPRISE! On the day that he closes the most lucrative and life-altering business deal, who walks into the office but that hot woman from the music festival nearly a decade earlier, Dani.
I’ll stop right there, because in reality, I don’t want to summarize the story – I haven’t given you anything more than what is contained in the synopsis. I will however say that: I love pricks. I love jerks. But it takes a special kind of asshat for me to divide my attention between loving and hating him.
There were moments where Reid Hunter should have been hung on a clothesline by his gonads, but there were more moments where I just wanted to wrap my arms around him and pat his back while saying “there, there. It will be ok.” I forgave over and over. Thankfully, so did Dani.
Let’s just say, I’m no longer skeptical. Profited is nothing like Submerged.
True to Ms. Black’s objective, you’ll get an unaware baby daddy. You’ll also catch a little update on previously introduced characters. I can even guarantee that in true Lacey Black style, the resolution for this couple following the climax of the story will provide you with that much sought after HEA, the one you were yearning for throughout the story.
But what this author absolutely excels at, is the EPIC epilogue. You get to the end of her books, and have a smile on your face. You proceed to the epilogue and that smile has transformed into a cosmic shit-eating grin.
Now, Lacey, I do have one recommendation for this series, and hopefully you can make the necessary changes if it hasn’t already occurred in Luke’s book.
It’s about Carly’s mom, and Dani’s dad. Make it so.

Reid Hunter & Dani Whitley cross paths one fateful night 8 years ago at a country music festival, only exchanging first names. Despite both of them agreeing on this one night together, Reid wakes up the next morning, regretful that Dani is gone with no way for him to reach her.
“There’s something about the way she kisses; like I’m the very air she breathes.”
Fast-forward 8 years to the present, with Dani finally learning more about the one man she has never forgotten…specifically his name. The angst and anticipation of Reid and Dani reuniting was the first thing that had me turning the pages, but then the reader gets hints to Reid possibly hiding a secret that could affect his relationship with Dani. I don’t put spoilers in my reviews, but suffice it to say that this book had a plot twist I didn’t see coming!
“Dani is right where she belongs, wrapped against my body. In my arms. And in my heart. I only wish I was capable of giving it away. Because when push comes to shove, I’m going to be the asshole who breaks her heart when I walk away.”
I have adored each and every book that Lacey Black has published so far, but this book has solidified this series as having ALL THE FEELS for me! It was sexy and well-paced. There were moments I was on the edge of my seat, and moments where I had my hand on my mouth, gasping out loud (looking like a spaz to my husband). ;) All of the characters were endearing, giving us several possibilities for future books that I will promptly devour.
This is a stand-alone that you must read! You don’t need to read the first book in the series to fall in love with this one. And you WILL fall in love!

So, it took me a couple of days to let my emotions settle after reading this book in order to write a (somewhat) coherent review. Having said that...Good gravy and a bag of rocks!!!! This book is INCREDIBLE!!!!
We met Reid Hunter in Submerged (Bound Together #1) He was Carly's cold, imperious, humorless boss who, quite frankly, was a dick to most people! But my opinion of Reid has certainly changed after reading Profited!
When Reid meets Dani at a country music festival on his last weekend of freedom before he has to settle down in the "family business" as dictated by his onerous father, he has one night of unbelievable passion with her (and let me say that Lacey writes HOT sex scenes ;) ).....and in the morning, she's gone!
Fast forward 9 years, and Dani finally discovers who Reid is, and tries to tell him about the son he fathered that night, but he very rudely and abruptly dismisses her! At this point, you really HATE Reid for being a cold, insensitive bastard and wish all kinds of physical harm to him (most of which involve the parts he used to get her pregnant!) As you learn more about what happens in the ensuing years since they met, the emotions you feel are heartbreaking, devastating and yes, you eventually fall head-over-heels in love with Reid and Dani!!
I absolutely adored this book and STILL can't believe some of the twists and my emotions are STILL all over the place! All I can say is...Lacey Black has done it again and even though I say this with every one of her books, THIS is my very favorite book to date!! A 5+++++ Star rating, a MUST READ!!!

OMG I have to go back and read book 1. This story was so well written! It starts out with Reid meeting Dani at a big country weekend show. She's alone having been abandoned by he boyfriend. He takes her under her wing and promises to show her a good time and boy do they! One night they share when he wakes in the morning she's gone. Fast forward 8 years she's a teacher living in Vegas with her sister and her dad close by/ They are helping her raise her son Ryan, he's going to be 8 years old soon! Her sister meets a guy at the casino she works at and she tells her sister about him and see's his picture in the paper and shows Dani and she freezes, it's him OMG it's Reid. She has to tell him about his son, so she goes to his office and he's mean to her and ride, she leaves without telling him about Ryan. Reid can't believe his eyes it's Dani, he's thought about her all this time and the first time he sees her he's rude, what the heck he needs to find her, Steven who is like a father to him helps him out and he shows up at her school, Ryan comes in the room and he can't believe his eyes it's his clone, his son!
Can these two get past old wounds and be together or will they just co exist and raise their son and raise their son? Will a deal he made with the devil himself ruin his only chance at happiness? Read this book to find out!
Lacey wrote a great story, I couldn't put it down if I could give it more than 5 stars this would get tons!

Profited is book 2 in the Bound Together series and follows Reid Hunter and Dani Whitley.
Reid and Dani met at a concert just after Reid had finished college. One amazing night together was all they had, but the effects of the night stayed with both of them for years to come. Dani always promised that if she ever found Reid, she would tell him her secret. She just never expected to actually find the man.
8 years later, Dani sees the man that gave her her son. She never knew Reid's last name so she was shocked to find out that he is Reid Hunter of Hunter Enterprises. The LOADED Reid Hunter. The man that was a complete jerk to her in his office. The man who is nothing the man she spent one amazing night with.
Reid never wanted the family life. He had a crappy childhood and never had any desire to put another child through that. He was content being the business man. Being the guy on top of the world. He had just signed the deal that would make him virtually untouchable when Dani walked back into his life.
How does Reid react to Dani's secret? Can Dani trust Reid with her heart? Is Reid worthy of her trust and love?
I LOVED this book!! When I finished Carly and Blake's book and found out Reid's was next I was super excited and Lacey did not disappoint at all. Highly recommend it! Can't wait for Luke's story!!

Now we fast forward eight years, Dani and Reid will meet again but both of them have secrets that they will have to tell. What will happen when they each find out the secrets? Will they finally reunite or will the secrets separate them forever? Wow! This book truly kept me on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns! This story is well written and I loved the characters, their chemistry was fantastic! I have a book hangover from this book and I will definitely reread it! This is the second book in the Bound Together Series and can be read as a stand-alone novel. Highly recommend it!

I will start by admitting that I didn’t even read the synopsis of this book when I requested the ARC. I just knew that I’ve enjoyed other Lacey Black books so that was enough for me.
As I began reading, I thought “Oh no! We’re doing the one night stand resulting in pregnancy thing again!” [NOTE: Had I read the synopsis I would’ve known this.] But as I kept reading I found that I couldn’t put it down. The story was so good, with characters that I quickly fell in love with.

They had unprotected sex during a ONS and never exchanged surnames.
She discovers his identity and promised herself that if she ever discovers his name she will tell him about their son, Ryan. She visits his office and is turned away.
“Listen, honey. Mr. Hunter doesn’t see anyone without an appointment.
Unless you can produce a name that’s on my schedule for this afternoon, you’re going to have to leave,” she replies with a clipped tone.
How in the hell am I supposed to see a man who won’t talk to anyone
without an appointment? Call up his office and say, “Hi, I’m a girl he slept with eight years ago and we share a son. Can he squeeze me in at three p.m. today?” I give it one last shot. “I’m an old friend of Reid’s. I really won’t take up
much of his time if you’ll just let me -” I start, but am cut off.
“Not happening, sweetheart. Do you know how many old friends of Reid’s
show up here every day to speak with him? No one, not even you, gets in
without an appointment.”
“I was just leaving. You don’t have to escort me out”.
“I’m not going to escort you out, Miss. I’m Steven, did you say you knew Reid?”

His friend driver and confidant, Steven, overrides the secretary and personally escorts her to Reid’s office.
“I’m sorry for just dropping by like this. I’m sure you’re a busy man”.
“What are you doing here? I have a very busy afternoon. I need to call back the gentleman that I just cut off. Is there something you need today? Otherwise, I’m going to have to cut this reunion short.”
I almost slink down into my chair from his rudeness and clear dismissal. Do I want my son to have a father who’s this brash and abrasive that he won’t even give me five minutes of his time?
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to disrupt your afternoon. I just wanted to say
hello. I see you’re a very busy man, and I won’t take any more of your time.”
He confronts her at her classroom and meets his son and shortly thereafter storms out after realising the reason for her unprecedented visit to his office.
He begins the process of getting to know his son and unfairly puts her in an uncomfortable position. He is contractually engaged to be married as part of a business deal. How does he intend to plan a new life that now includes the results of a one night stand?

“How did you get in here, Cynthia?”
“That nice woman downstairs let me up. When I explained who I was, she
showed me to the elevator,” Cynthia says. “I’m sorry, I’ve been rude. My name
is Cyn”
“I was just telling the help here about how hard my fiancé is working.”
“Fiancé?”
“Of course I’m his fiancée. We’re to be married by the end of the year”.
“But, Reid, I thought we could enjoy an evening in tonight. We have so
much catching up to do and so much planning to do for the wedding,”
“I said go,” he seethes.
“I don’t understand why I have to leave, darling,”
“She’s right. I should leave,” I say as I turn to grab my satchel bag off the
table.
“No.” Reid’s voice is firm. Final. “Cynthia, you are to leave immediately. If
you want to see me again, please make an appointment with Carly.”
“I need to go,”
“Don’t go,” he says, panic laced in his voice.
“Why? I can’t stay. You’re engaged, Reid. How could you have forgotten
that one little detail? A month we’ve spent together getting to know each other.
You’ve spent a month getting to know your son”
“This affects nothing,” he says.
“How can you say that? This affects everything, Reid. But it won’t affect
your relationship with Ryan. Don’t worry, I won’t keep him from you. You can
see him as often as you’d like, I’ll make sure of it. I know he’ll love to stay with
you on weekends still, when your schedule will allow. I won’t stand between you and your son,”
“I don’t want Ryan without you,”
“You can’t have us both anymore. Ryan is all you have left.”
How can you trust a man that allegedly forgets he’s contractually obligated to marry another women whilst intricately weaving his way into the fabric of your lives? His lies and his deceit. How can a person completely omit the fact that they had entered into a business arrangement to marry another woman? How does one overlook that major fact, while you’re bedding one and planning to marry another? It’s morally despicable.

This book was FANTASTIC. I loved this book. It was a steamy, panty dropping, and riveting. This book grabs you and just takes you for a great ride with well developed characters who I instantly loved. Reid and Dani meet and have a one night stand and then sadly go on with their lives. But that one night that changes EVERYTHING. Eight years later unknown to either of them they're both living in Sin City. Can they find a happily ever after or are they destined for sad and lonely lives.

I have read all of Lacey's books and have loved each and every one of them! They all have humor, heat, love, and some twists. I met Reid in Submerged as Carly's boss, and he was not exactly the lovely type...
Eight years. It's been eight years since that night. The night Reid let the only woman to make him want more. More than just a quick fuck. He knew from the moment he saw her but he let her slip through his fingers. That was his first regret when it came to Dani. And for Dani, well...she is reminded daily of the man she walked away from. His gray eyes look at her everyday except they are not his, they are their son's. She never got his last name that night but soon she will realize how close he really is...
In the last eight years Reid has made a name for himself in Las Vegas. He is powerful, wealthy, and a playboy with a cold heart. He doesn't do relationships. He doesn't want children. His work is in passion and he will do what it takes to keep it that way. Does he still think of Dani? Yes! He has tried to stop thinking about their one night together but he can't. She was the only one to make him nervous. To let him think he wasn't a cold bastard. So, when she shows back up in his life out of blue he doesn't know what to expect. What would she want from him? Why is she here now? And why was his such an asshole to her? He knows why...he just signed a deal with the devil.
Reid and Dani still feel the heat between them but now there is more at stake. Reid has a son. And to say he is shocked by the news is an understatement. He doesn't know what to do with an eight year old. And what about Dani? He wants her more than ever but he has to decide if this is what he wants. I love Dani! She is a kick ass mom that loves her son and wants nothing more than for him to have a happy life. She will protect him. Love him. And never let him go. And then there is Reid. He has his moments of naughtiness, sweetness, and weakness but he also has those moments when I want to smack him. He is new at this. He will make mistakes like all of us do. But can Dani forgive him? She has more than herself to think about. And speaking of Ryan, that kids awesome!! Together, they all make a pretty kick ass team.
Overall...I loved this story! Single parents finding love again always gets to me. And when you add in the second chance romance into the mix, it's even better! It's a sexy, sweet, heartbreaking, beautiful and fun read. I laughed, cried, and got hot and bothered. The perfect mix!

Another perfect addition to this series as we heat up this in book two of the Bound Together series. I fell hard and fast for Reid and Dani in this book. I am a sucker for surprise babies and second chances so this book was a big hit with me. Lacey Black is a genius in the romance world and a must read author for me. This book was beautifully written and perfectly executed. I laughed, smiled, swooned, got angry, and fell head over heels for them fast. Reid and Dani will give you a second chance that will make you fall in love.
Reid is a ruthless business who has no interest in love or relationship. His transactions with women are for one purpose and then he gets out. But nine years ago he had a one night stand that rocked his world. He was still in college and living free one more time until he has to enter the corporate world. But he has since moved on though she still lingers in his mind. And when he comes face to face with her again after all those years, he realizes that there is more to her story and she is holding a secret from his that'll rock his world.
Dani is a single mom, who is going all that she can to be everything her son needs. She had a one night stand at a concert back in college that changed her life forever. Now she is a teacher and a mom doing the best she can. When she decides to tell Reid about the miracle they created, she isn't sure what she is expecting. Oh Lacey, you did it again!!! You took my heart, ripped it out and broke it, and then put it back together so brilliantly that I think I cried like the last 15% of this book!! I was intrigued to learn more about Reid after reading Submerged! He was mysterious and I love that! And boy was I sooooo pleased with his story! Reid doesn't think he has a heart but the sweet, sweet Dani proves him wrong! These two have one heck of an adventure that started almost 9 years ago! Time means nothin when love is involved! There are many factors and much help through this story including Dani's amazing family! Family is the major aspect of this story. Not only is there Dani's family but the family Reid has made himself besides his sister Tara. We got a little glimpse of Carly, Blake, and Natalia and then this wonderful man named Steven who was a version of Reid's very own fairy godfather. Ok I'm done rambling but you have to pick this up! Love never dies and always wins! Let Reid and Dani's story show you that!!!

Profited is now probably one of my favorite books by Lacey... This is the 2nd book in the Bound Together series. Reid has one last summer of freedom where he meets Dani at a concert and they spend an amazing night together that stays with both of them for a long time even though neither one knows the others last name... Flash forward several years and Dani finally figures out Reid's last name and unexpectedly shows up with life changing news for him...
This was a wonderfully well written story that kept me on the edge of my seat with the twist at the end and had me wondering which way will Reid go....

As always Lacey has delivered an incredible story. I knew this series was going to be great when I read book one, Lacey set the stage for some really amazing characters and storylines and she most definitely delivered with this book!
I don't want to give much away this is just one book you HAVE to read.

author copy. Reid and Dani's story is so heartwarming. Dani and Reid share a passionate nite together and years later they get the chance to reconnect. there are many obstacles for them to overcome and they seem to be finally moving forward until secrets finally come out, I could not turn the pages fast enough to see how everything plays out. I am so loving the Hea and wish the story would continue on. well done Lacey another FABULOUS story.

Scorching chemistry between the characters! Loved the storyline! One of the reasons I love Lacey's books is her ability to bring back characters who we fell in love with and gives us glimpses on their lives without it taking away from the new characters. Thanks Lacey for another amazing story!

I love everything Lacey Back has written but I have to say this one might just be my favorite to date! I loved Reid so much! He is definitely my new book boyfriend! Dani God loved that girl. This is a must read!
