Broken Compass is a spinoff within the Supernatural Prison World. Told in dual POVs from Maximus Compass and Mischa Lebron. This is full length and standalone. You do not need to read the Supernatural Prison trilogy first.
Maximus Compass is a vampire without direction. Without heart. And without soul. He lost his true mate in the great battle against the dragon king, and now must face life alone.
And yet … something is happening to his agony. It’s fading away, leaving him with barely a memory of the female he believed to be his one and only. As his mind clears he starts to wonder if the mate bond had been nothing more than a manufactured ploy? This suspicion explodes within him right around the time he runs back into a certain wolf shifter.
Mischa Lebron is a complication he doesn’t need in his life. He can’t erase her from his mind though, and while memories of his supposed true mate continue to fade into mere shadows, his one night with Mischa is blazingly strong. But they’re not of the same supernatural race, so there’s no way for a a true bond to exist between them.
Right?
When an old threat rips apart their pack, Maximus will come to realize that he would do anything to save Mischa. That the mate he thought was perfect and precious was nothing on the shifter he walked away from. Now Maximus truly has everything to lose.
Teaser (SPOILER ALERT FROM DRAGON MATED!)
Mischa:
Dark blue eyes followed my movements, and Braxton's concern was barely concealed. He was shrewdly watching me, but every now and then his eyes would dart back to his brother.
I wanted to ask them what they were fighting about, but instead decided to act like it was normal. No big deal. Which for supes, it probably was.
Needing some relief from the tension I moved closer to Braxton and murmured: "Jessa is out of cake."
Which was our code for, “Jessa is out of cake, get her some freaking cake, she's actually going to kill someone if she doesn’t get some cake.”
The dragon shifter's eyes widened and a tendril of what looked like panic fluttered across the dark depths. I could see he was torn about leaving straight away to find his mate, but in the end he remained where it was. He must have decided he couldn't leave me with Maximus, in his current state of mega-pissed vampire.
Before I could think up anything else as a distraction, the furious vampire super-speeded toward me and suddenly I couldn’t ignore Maximus Compass any longer. I lost my breath as he towered over me. His broad shoulders filled the space, and his presence sucked all remaining oxygen from around me. I worked extra hard to keep a calm face.
Maximus’ hands twitched at his side as he finally growled out. “Who do I need to kill? Whose baby is this, Mischa?”

It was great seeing the story from the eyes of Maximum the Vampire of the brothers and Michca one of the twin female shifters. Since the main three books were from the point of view of Jessa. It gives another perspective, dynamic to the story that I enjoyed.
Possible (small) spoilers I was unimpressed & kept wondering if I was reading the same story that warranted all those high reviews. It's an average read at best. Honestly it felt disingenuous & a cheap plot device to get the baby daddy back in line, excuse embarrassing behaviors (behaviors not just limited to the H/h but also Lienda the h mother)& create a nice traditional happy ending. *gag* I continue to dislike Misch & Max came across as an asshole. IMO this book successfully turned having a true mate from a strength or lucky circumstance of fate/genetics into an absolute (debilitating) weakness. Apparently having a mate & being separated from him causes all females to lose the ability to survive independently, have critical thinking skills, appropriately care for children, severe clinical depression, low self-worth, be your own person & any number of negative traits that attribute to a persons "weakness of character". I limit this behavior to mated females bc although Lienda (& later Mischa) behaved this way the alpha wolf Justin (?) seemed to have raised Jess relatively well regardless of his mate's disappearance. It's BS & really spoiled the mate bond for me. I'm not interested in reading any additional books about or from Max & Mischa's POV. I'd be interested in the remaining two unmated quads mostly bc I feel their underdeveloped & am curious to see what they're like as individuals outside of Brax & Max's shadows. Mostly however I'm especially interested in Louis. Louis has always peaked my interest, & if I'm not mistaken he's never found his true/fated mate.

Unlike most everyone, I haven’t read the other books, so I’m coming into this with a completely open mindset-no baggage…. Like I don’t already hate Mischa… so my perspective is different.
I saw this on a rejected mate forum online. (it’s not) I hadn’t read the series, but saw that it was on KU, and the blurb said it could be read as a standalone. This is Maximus and Mischa’s story. The book begins with a Max deciding to return home after the death of his mate. (Cardia) Meanwhile, Mischa is pregnant with Max’s kid, and we’re told he’s unaware. Fairly early I started to feel a bit lost/out of sorts, so I went back and skim read books 2 & 3 to try to catch up.
Backstory- The first three books follow Jessa and the Compass quads. Four hybrid brothers- Braxton (her mate) Maximus (her BFF) Tyson and Jacob. Jessa has grown up with these boys and it felt like they all coddled her. Mischa is her twin that was separated at birth and raised as a human by bio mom. In Dragon Mystics Mischa and Max have this flirty thing going on and sleep together. He then starts to blow her off then meets his true mate Cardia. Mischa doesn’t handle this well at all and becomes BFF with evil twins and inadvertently is manipulated to release the evil dragon king. To me, it read like Jessa and Max had that messy BFF dynamic we’ve seen where Max loves Jessa, but she loves the brother, but keeps him in her life and gets jelly when he’s not paying attention to her. In Dragon Mated, it obvious that Cardia and Max’s true mate bond is whack, (he puts Jessa before her) and she’s killed at the end of the book. Pregnant Mischa doesn’t tell him, then he takes off.
One of my friends loved Jessa in the first three books, and HATED Mischa so she wasn’t a fan of this book. I didn’t have that background, and I had already connected with Mischa when I backtracked to the trilogy, and found Jessa annoying AF. For example, in book 3 she says this…
Mischa and I had issues. Big ones. She’d acted like a complete fucking moron, trusting the fruit twins. She should have known better. She grew up with humans, for shit’s sakes, and humans were fraught with deception and disloyalty. I’d be a liar if I didn’t admit that her stupidity did worry me.
BUT, in this book they get into a dangerous situation because Jessa insists that her and Mischa (both heavily pregnant) investigate a disturbance rather than waiting on the guys… glass houses and all.
Now being as vague as possible, we quickly learn that all was not what it appeared to be in book 2 and 3, and Mischa was more victim than villain. Jessa, Max, and Tyson each acknowledge that they weren’t fair to her at all, but it’s all brushed over quickly which was a huge bummer from a drama standpoint.
Bottom Line- It’s a tough book because you really need the backstory to stay on page, but might not like Mischa if you do. I thought it was ok, but it could have been great had Mischa not forgiven everyone straightaway, and made Max work a little. Even if he was innocent, she was hurt, and there was a relationship that went on in front of her face. I felt like the author should’ve squeezed some angst out of that.
To be honest, I never really cared for Max and Mischa while reading the Supernatural Prison series, so mostly I picked this cause,
1) Jaymin Eve. Duh. 2) Cameo appearances by Jessa, Braxton and Louis.
But you know, I'm kinda glad I picked this up. I'm very happy with how the story was plot out. Everything was interconnected and satisfactorily explored. Mischa wasn't as whiny, annoying as before and surprisingly I'm actually pretty proud of this mama wolf.
My soul literally howls for Louis! I NEED to know what happens with him. Will he be okay? Does he find his true mate? Does he get his HEA? Is his book next?
I'm dying here. Somebody please answers these before I expire! TT_TT I can't wait to read the other books in the series.
I really really wanted to love this. Like really love it. Kept reading all these reviews about how at the end of this book I was going to loooooove Mischa.
I don't hate her. Which is progress. But I seriously don't like Max anymore - not so much progress.
As other reviewers have noted, Eve tried her best to give Mischa redemption for her behavior in the past two books but all she really ended up doing was cheapening the mate bond and making mated women look weak. And she made Max a complete ass.
If I was Mischa I'd make him work for it a hell of a lot more. A lot more.
Regardless of the words above, I still love the world and characters Eve gives us. The snippets of Jessa and Brad, the quads themselves, Louis... can't wait to read more about them.
Oh Bloody Hell!! I friggen knew it! *HAPPY DANCE* WOOT WOOT!!! He finally pulled his head out of *whistles* and did what he needed to and finally realized what was right in front of him. I didn’t like Mischa from day one. There was something off putting about her in the books and I was about ready to strangle her, but I thought I would give her one more chance. I mean come on love sick puppy much…….. And boy was I so wrong about her. I didn’t realize what was happening and now I wish I could tell her I am so sorry and my mother’s voice range in my head *Never judge a books by its cover* OI! Jaymin you played with my emotions and I can’t believe the book ended so sudden. I need more! I will start a chant and hopefully others will join.
Ok now down to some stuff that I can’t go into detail but I can kind of talk about. I so totally called it! I knew something was off with Max’s mate Cardia, but I didn’t know how deep it truly went, I mean holy smokes. And the twist about their Compasses and what can happen with their mates! I need to know who Jacob gets, I mean we know who Tyson is linked to. *Cough* *Cough**Cough* Starts with a G *Cough**Cough**Cough* But all in all Jaymin messed with my emotions and I was left hanging. I know a huge storm is brewing and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen.
I was a huge fan of Jessa and Braxtons story but I am going to have to say this is by far my favorite! Those intimate and drool worthy scenes with Max and Mischa. I was literally drooling when I read them. I can’t wait to read the next book and get some steamy compass scenes!
This one had potential - just didn't do it for me. I am currently reading a book in another series as it contains the backstory. Would reading it prior to this one make a difference? So far - no.
I did like the small part of this book about in which supernaturals were lured by the Hansel and Gretel candy house, trapped and sold on the black market. The demon was selling all types of supernatural creatures. I would have liked to know more about some of the creatures and know that they were freed.
I just wasn't feeling this one. Not sure why, but maybe it's the fact that even before the forced mating, Max never showed any inkling of real feelings for Meischa. Either they slept together and he still ran off with another girl before the fake bond was in place or they slept together after the fake bond. Neither strikes me as bonded behavior. If she was feeling the bond, then he should have been too. He just always struck me as emotionless where she was concerned. Pretty sure it was all that which made it impossible for me to feel the love. A mating bond, even if not fully formed, should have kept him out of another woman's bed, especially in front of her. What's even stranger is they supposedly slept together while Braxton and mate were missing in Fairie. Pretty sure Max was already with his fake mate by then?
I don't get how this Got so Many 5 Stars review. 'Cause this is honestly not a 5 Star book, it's also not a 4 Star book. It's a 3 Star book and if you are a bit tough it's a 2,5 Star book.
I loved the other books in this series. But, when the previous book turned out to be a Rather huge succes it was because of the awesome heroine, the connection and description of the Compass-brothers and the plot. All things this book was missing. This was more Like a Novel than a book in the series. I Think you Can count on one hand the times Jacob was mentioned. There is Almost none inter action with the brothers. AND IT IS SAPPY!! Everybody cries....all the time.... Christ.
Not much to the plot.
So disappointed - and I have been look g forward to this for soooo long. :(
I had the ABSOLUTE INCREDIBLE fortune to have the opportunity to BETA read for this book. Yes, you should be incredibly jealous if you are fans of the Compass Quads and the Supernatural Prison series. Why? Because it's phenomenal. First off, take all the knowledge and judgments you have of Mischa. Got it? The fact that she was kind of a snooty bitch, that she betrayed everyone and your resentment of her? All that stuff. Take it...wrap it in a little ball and shove it in your mouth and eat those words (be glad in pure Jessa fashion I didn't tell you to shove it elsewhere!!! Hahaha!). I promise. I was wary of Mischa's character and I even did a little groan when I heard "Broken Compass" was going to be a dual point-of-view work between her, and Maximus. But, I knew Jaymin could pull it off and she did. By the middle of the book I'd completely fallen in love with her. Keep in mind, there are usually really good reasons why people (even supe people!) do the things they do. Mischa comes into her own in this novel and she's utterly relateable, enviable even and likable. There were portions I actually straight-up ugly cried because of some similar life-experiences we shared and I felt just so damned awful for her. Maximus. What on Earth can I say about him? My favorite of the quads was definitely Braxton, but Max is delectable in his own way...and he doesn't disappoint here. If you aren't careful he might just become your new favorite Quad.
There is further world building and some new scenes that blew my mind. The Quads also grow further in their powers and come into their own. It's truly hard to pick a favorite; they're all so intriguing. There's plenty of romance, some epic battles and even a little sexy-time truly giving this tale a little bit of everything.
Broken Compass is a continuation of the 'Supernatural Prison' series and it's probably wise to read the others first but it is a stand-alone essentially and has a generally satisfying conclusion. NO cliffhangers. You probably could read this alone if you wanted to; there's enough background information that you wouldn't be totally lost.
Honestly I can't wait until it's released so I can fully geek out about it with friends. I laughed--especially in the first chapter I literally laughed so hard I started crying--and then I laughed some more. I cried. I cheered. Jaymin Eve truly just gets better and better and it's been an honor and a blast to watch her talent grow and to be a part of the process. /end feels
PS. Just so you all know, yes, I BETAed this book. But this is the exact same review I would have left had I just read regularly like all of you. If there was a problem, I would have mentioned it. Just because I adore Jaymin doesn't mean I will leave a fake review. Not like that. SO no one thinks I"m just writing this to suck up. I tell it like it is. Free or not, friend or not. Just so you all know.
First off: I hated Mischa, I didn't trust her or like her, Well, Now that I've been inside her head, I like her and pretty much love her to bits, and that is a hard thing to do, get me to change my feelings about a character, anyway that's all I'm saying to that degree No spoilers.
Second: This is yet another amazing must read, can be read as a stand alone, or as a continued journey for our beloved crew. Either way you will enjoy the masterful weaving of this tale.
Third and last: Thank you Jaymin for yet another amazing tale for me to get wrapped up and carried away in, I couldn't put it down. <3
okay i gave in and read it, its 2.5 STARS people! i hate it when the plot twists are so convenient (with a capital C) for the author when they just want to move along with the story and give it an HEA. hate mischa! dear author you made her into a character people didn't like so atleast be consistent with your characters(mischa's) traits, and maybe gradually develop the story from there, instead you just made it a big ole misunderstanding, poor mischa misunderstood by Everyone!...and for the rest i refer to .. Jeanny's .. review, because it's perfect.

I loved getting to see the pack's story from Mischa & Max's perspectives! This book made me realize how strong of a person Mischa is, especially when everyone else turned out to be in the wrong and the fates seemed to keep coming for her! Reading their story gave my heart the warm fuzzies and I CANNOT WAIT to read the rest of the Supernatural Prison (love) Stories!
I was glad that we got Max & Mischa's story. What can I say holy shit. This story didn't disappoint at all. This book ties up loose ends and answers questions from the first three books. I got the answers I was after and the relationships between all the characters grew. Loved this book! I am so glad each quad is getting their own book.
Loved it! love the explanation of being deceived. Loved the length of the story. Unlike the previous Supernatural Prison series, this book has POV of both the MCs Will defiantly read rest of the series. I’m hooked!
In the exciting sequel series we now follow the Compass Brothers and Louis as they each find there own true mates. On the way, they cause absolute chaos then have to fix it.
I'm the first book we follow our lovable vamp, Maximus, has just lost his true mate, only he is not reacting the way he should for the loss of a true mate bond.
Meanwhile, Mischa is pregnant with Maximus baby. And might just be the answer to everything.
Broken Compass is the first in a spin-off of Eve's Supernatural Prison where the focus switches to one of the Compass quads (four brothers, each a different type of supernatural). This installment is about Maximus, who is a vampire. Book two, Magical Compass - A Supernatural Prison Story, will feature Tyson, the wizard.
Eve notes this series can be read without having previously read her Supernatural Prison trilogy. However, events from the finale carried over into this installment, so I would recommend reading the trilogy first if you'd like the full background/history between the book's couple. That said, Eve does provide readers with bits and pieces should you choose to skip the trilogy.
I had high hopes for this - a bit too high, as it turned out. The story is told in alternating POVs - Maximus and Mischa. Mischa has a secret, Having grown up among humans not knowing she's a shifter, Mischa had a difficult time adjusting to her new life. She's now allowing herself to embrace her nature and accept the love of her pack. What she's still fighting are her feelings for Max.
Max has run off after suffering a loss, He finds himself thinking of his night with Mischa while hating himself for thinking of another despite his loss.
The baddie carries over from the trilogy finale (Dragon Mated) and he offers up some information that answers questions related to this pair's HEA and potentially that of his brothers, too.
Unfortunately, in spite of the revelations and the HEA, I just didn't feel anything for these two. I liked Max in the trilogy, but not so much in this installment. Mischa was never my favorite and, while Eve did try to smooth out the things that made her unappealing in the other books, she still isn't. But, there are two other brothers to get a HEA, as well as mega wizard Louis. So, I'll be sticking with the series.
I loved The Supernatural Prison series, and I was really happy to find out that the author was continuing the series, starting with Maximus Compass's story dealing with the loss of Cardia, his true mate.
It was a good story, I enjoyed reading it, and I'm really looking forward to reading more in this series. But IMO, it just wasn't as strong as it could have been, or as strong as the stories in The Supernatural Prison series were. Here is a link to my YouTube review: Broken Compass
This book was soooooooooo good! I was ridiculously excited when I saw that there would be books about each of the quads. Max and Mischa go through so very much before this book even begins so you know going in it’s going to be a bit dark at the beginning bc other than Mischa’s secret nothing too fantastic has happened to either one of them recently. The story picks up where we left off in Dragon Mated and kicks it into high gear action wise! I don’t want to give anything away, but a ton more is explained about the quads and some lingering questions we all had about Cardia are answered. Absolutely recommend this book! It is so amazing and written superbly. Jaymin Eve is a master when it comes to creating a fantasy world where we wish all the characters were our best friends/family!!
This story definitely felt more rushed than other installments of the series. The ending kinda came out of no where and we're still left with a ton of questions. It felt more like a part 1 of a story than it's own installment that could stand on it's own. So while not as well executed, it was still an enjoyable reading experience.
Loved Maximus and Mischas story full of love, hope and healing. This book starts another epic chapter of the Supernatural Prison series and I can't wait to read about more of the Compass boys.
It feels like forever since Dragon Mated was released, when it was actually only a few months. However I was able to jump straight into Broken Compass without needing to refresh my memory as to what has happened previously. Jaymin has mentioned that you don't need to of read the previous three books in the series to read this book as it's a stand alone, and I agree that you could read this book and not have to worry about what's happened previously, but then I think of how awesome the first three books are and think that you should seriously read those books anyway as you're missing out on a whole load of awesomeness.
Broken Compass is Mischa & Max's story, Max is the vampire in the quads (Brax's brother) and Mischa is Jessa's sister and a wolf shifter. At the end of Dragon Mated, Max's mate Cardia was killed and we discovered that Mischa was pregnant with Max's child. I know shocker huh! Max left town before Mischa had a chance to tell him as he needed to clear his head. Now we all know from any paranormal story that losing your mate is enough to turn you insane, if it doesn't kill you first. Your mate is the other half to your heart, your yin to your yang, your world, your soul and your one & only true love. There was one big question through most of the first three Supernatural Prison series for me. Is Cardia really the true mate of Max? Well you'll just have to read the book and see.
Mischa was a character that I had some ambivalent feelings towards. She's Jessa's sister, but for most of her life she never knew she was a shifter as she was living in the human world and she never even knew she had a twin. Now in Dragon Mystics, Mischa did some pretty stupid stuff, however in Dragon Marked I think we got to see a better side of her and maybe some more explanation into why. In Broken Compass we learn why Mischa acted the way she did and yes, the reason totally makes me forgive her for that. Also as this book is written in dual POV's from both Max & Mischa, which I totally love by the way and there should be more books written like this, we learn what makes Mischa tick, without her being overshadowed by the kickass and snort out loud thoughts of Jessa to divert our attention. Mischa is just as strong and stubborn as Jessa, but in different ways. Jaymin has done very well to write a character that can live up to the awesome (in my eyes) Jessa and lead a story and make us laugh in the way that Jaymin's characters are well known for doing. I warmed to Mischa so much in this book that she's now one of my favourite characters.
Jaymin has written another heart stopping, edge of your seat, unputadownable, don't dare interrupt me or you may get hit, book here. The action and story had me on a knife edge most of the way through the book and whilst we still had the laugh out loud comments, we also had some more serious moments too and ones that had me catching my breath as to what would happen next. I really didn't think that Jaymin could top any of her previous books, but I think she may have gone and done it. I gulped this book down in one sitting and didn't stop to do anything, that's how much I loved it.
If you're already a fan of Jaymin Eve then what are you waiting for, read this book already! If you've not read any books by Jaymin Eve yet then what are you waiting for, read them now! Trust me, you won't regret it, in fact I expect you'll thank me for introducing you to them ;) This is one of those books that you won't regret reading and that you'll want to pick up every year to read again.
Now to impatiently await for Jaymin's next book, which I'm hoping will be Louis story as I need to know what happens with him next please.
Review for those who have read "Supernatural prison"trilogy prior to this book.
Did you hate Mischa before?Yeah, nothing mutch in this book to change that.To be fair, author does try really hard to redeem her,she even gets other characters to constantly point out how brave and strong Mischa is.Only, there is absolutely nothing in her actions to back up those words.Mischa for most parts is a victim here-of Jessas stupidity (yeah, let's stupify previously loved character, it usually helps),of Kristoff and of circumstances and our heroine is nothing but whiny damsel in distress.Mischa was weak and unlikeable before and is even more idiotic here.Basically-your typical fangirl with a crush who loves to complain about everything. I also seriously started to dislike Maximus whom I loved before. This mate bond between them felt forced and unnatural. He went from thinking he made a mistake by sleeping with whiny bitch because he wanted Jessa in her place to declaring he always wanted Mischa and humiliated and refused her for her own good, being noble basically. I have to be half brain dead to buy into this shit.We get force fed typical arrogant human jerk shit and are expected to swallow it without questions. But,hey, our idiot fangirl did,so all good, right?
As for the action side of story, yeah,it is packed. So packed and so explained that you have to wonder if author threw in all her ideas for better measure. You know, just to be on safe side.Evil is the most possible evil and all.Cover all bases of evildoings someone could come up with. There is sutch a thing as overdoing it and that what's happening in this book.Sometimes less is more believable. Otherwise it becomes nearly comical like story here.
OH MY LANTA!! I was a Mischa hater. Key word WAS. Jaymin kicked this out of the PARK!! I don't want to have any spoilers listed but man. WHAT A RIDE. Things make so much sense if you read this book! If you're a hater give this book a chance and it will answer so many questions!! And babies!! Gah all the babies!! I just love this universe!! I also love that it gives you an epilogue in a way of the characters you loved from the first trilogy. And not only that but extrapolates more without detracting from the story of Max and Mischa. If you read this I'm sure it will not only blow your mind BUT change your mind on so many things!! I can't give spoilers so GAAAAAHHH just read it for yourself you will not be disappointed. I stayed up till almost three am to finish it, and could not stop once I started it. It's so full of action and mystery plus you get another book with the sexy supes in it!! YUM! Plus it was so satisfying!! Like when you indulge in something and remember to stop eating before your disgustingly full. Just fully content. Think thanksgiving meal. That was this book. It left me content with the storyline and summed up all I needed to know to feel empathy with the characters. Plus all the bloodthirsty nature of some of the events was so satisfying. Like Ramsey and Jon in GoT satisfying. So good. MUST READ!!
it was everything I expected and more. This is Jaymin's best book yet.
In The three previous books Mischa was weak, annoying, and just not a character I liked. but in this book she was strong, protective and a badass in her own way like her sister. And yep, I loved every moment of it. Jaymin turned her into a character I love with a fiery personality.
I have always liked Max, but now I like him even more. He was already super protective, but when it came to Mischa, he was even more protective. I loved seeing him and Mischa together.
I also loved seeing the other Compass brothers and Jessa. I loved how Jaymin made sure they were a part of the book, but they never took it over. it was just right.
While Dragon Marked, Dragon Mystics, and Dragon Mated does not have to be read first, I highly recommend it does.
I really enjoyed this book, and so excited for the next Compass story. Go ahead, give this a read. You know you want to.
Warning: This review/rating is based on my feelings, thoughts, likes and dislikes. You should read the book to form your own opinion/thoughts. Read on!
Rating: 4 Stars Cover: I like it Cliffhanger: Nope Triangle: Nah
Well, we get to see more of the Compasses and I am glad. I didn’t like it as much as the previous three books.
I still had fun getting to know Mischa, she was now evolving, becoming more herself than the girl who got scared at everything.
Maximus was not the same as in the previous books but his alpha possessive controlling nature went up to levels beyond this realm. And he was willing to do everything right for Mischa and his baby.
Kirstoff is managing to bring more pain and trouble to the Compasses and Mischa and Jessa, especially now that they are pregnant. Those babies are supposed to be very special, so naturally, everyone wants them for their own nasty purposes.
This book was so badly written I could not get past 3%. I cannot believe all the good reviews. Yes, I am a writer and maybe a bit picky, but I do give five star reviews, I promise.
This is an excerpt right out of page 1:
"Of course, this time it was clearly something else. The color purple had her all a tizzy. I hurried as fast as I could down the hall, but with my own impending pregnancy I wasn’t exactly in running shape."
-Notice that the previous paragraph was in the present tense, so the transition is even more jarring. -"Had her all a tizzy"? Do you mean "in a tizzy"? -Impending pregnancy?!? This woman is huge and about to deliver, so I would say her pregnancy happened and has been going on for a while.
Sorry, but no. This book might have some great plot points and characters. I will never find out unless some thorough editing occurs. If you can relate to my annoying comments wait it out ;)
