Hazel is one fierce bad ass chick!!! I love how in a world of male dominated sport MMA fighting that you have women like hazel who fight their way to the top with guts and tenacity of a true warrior!!! While hazel is no holds bar in the ring it's her past demons that control her out of the ring.But when the sexy hot tatted knox comes into her orbit and makes her feel things theirs no going back!! The way knox is with her is simply beautiful and I was cheering for these two from the beginning.The chemistry was so f##king HOT and the sex mind blowing!!! What a read the storyline and characters were so interesting and I totally love this read from start to finish!!! If this is Dee Garcia's debut book,I can't wait to see what else she got in store for us!!💋💖😉

I really like this authors storyline. As I was reading I found a lot of grammar errors. I don't mind if one or two happen to be missed but unfortunately I found many. This is a new author for me. And I've read and love all the edits and teasers for this book. I did find myself crying and in need of a cold shower after reading a few chapters in. I enjoyed the authors explicit detail of the hot sex scenes. Will I read more from this Author! Absolutely!! Her story telling is wonderful. She does an excellent job describing the fight scenes. This book has it all love, heartbreak, betrayal and loss.

Congrats to Dee Garcia on her debut novel. Like her lead character, Lioness, she came out swinging.
This was my first "fighter romance" & I didn't really know what to expect, so I just sat back and let the author take me into the underground world of MMA fighting.
I learned very quickly, that the book was most definitely a story about fighting - just not necessarily against an opponent.
At it's core, for me, it is a story about strength, determination, triumph over seemingly too large obstacles & the ever important challenge of trusting another person enough to give them a piece of yourself.
Hazel is fierce, competitive & competent and I loved her tenacity to achieve her goals. She is much more beneath the surface however, and no matter how well she protected herself & hid her insecurities - Knox Carr was coming for the Lioness. All of her. And he wasn't taking "no" (or any other bullshit excuses) for an answer.
Knox Carr - SERIOUSLY!!?? I just loved every single thing about this guy. He was the perfect yin to Hazel's yang and it a way that just... was. Nothing overt, no alpha bs, no OTT macho heroics, just 100% there. Sigh...
There was plenty of heat, lots of heart, intrigue, suspense & of course MMA action.
I'm definitely looking forward to the second book in The Bloodshed Series - Hear Me Roar - for more of Hazel Perry and Knox Carr. I get the feeling their fight is far from over.

From teasers alone I wanted to read this story and now that I have WOW! Hazel is one badass chick who knows what she wants and nothing will stand in her way of getting it. This story pulled me in from the start and I couldn't stop reading nor did I want to. Knox, my oh my everything about this man from the moment he lays eyes on Hazel had me swooning over him. The way Dee wrote their story you can feel the passion that was put into her words and the descriptions make you feel everything the characters are feeling. I will tell you there are tear jerker moments and they came and went throughout the story but damn when the passion between Hazel and Knot comes out it will have you burning up. I enjoyed seeing a book written where the woman is strong and can take care of herself and at the same time need others around her for support. I cannot wait to read more in this series. I absolutely LOVED this book. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Where do I begin?!? This story runs on pure adrenaline! I LOVE fighter books and this a first reading about a female fighter! Hazel and Knox are just one couple that's on fire from the beginning! This book is so hard to believe is a debut!!! Hazel has had a difficult past and has had life changing encounter and now is a strong person more than ever before! She's tough and takes no prisoners! Then we have a blue eyed hottie named Knox! When they first meet its raw chemistry and even me the reader can feel it! This story is hot, sexy and like I said it runs on pure, high energy adrenaline! Dee Garcia is a author to watch out for! I will be looking forward to much more from Dee!

This book is perfect for when life is getting a little too much and you just want to read something hot, fun and sexy. A perfect escape from reality.
I loved the flow of this book and I haven't read a book with this kind of plot line before, it is different and refreshing and doesn't have any of the cliche plot lines that you see all the time.
I am deeply in love with Knox. Unique name. Unique man. Him and Hazel are everything I love in a couple.
I can't say enough how much I loved this book. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

4.25 "Hear Me Roar" stars!!
I've read quite a few romances surrounding MMA fighters, and with I AM LIONESS, Dee Garcia has created a phenomenal one. In its own subtle way it debunked stereotypes and gender roles and shone a light on FEMALE MMA fighters. I freaking loved it!!
Hazel has suffered some huge losses in her personal life, but they helped to shape her into a fierce competitor. Afraid to suffer again, she refuses to form any real attachments or connections and keeps everyone at arms-length. Until Knox barrelled his way into her life and wouldn't keep his distance. These two connected instantly and their chemistry was off-the-charts. I loved how steady and true Knox was and how that allowed Hazel to be truly vulnerable with him. They were just so sweet together.
There was a suspense element added to the plot that really upped the drama and gave it a nice change of pace. This story was well-written with a plot that completely captivated me. The only thing that bugged me was the lack of a back story for Knox. The fact that he had any family, much less a sister, wasn't revealed until the end. And I wanted more information on his connection to Luis and Reyna. I'm hoping the second book, HEAR ME ROAR, continues the story of this amazing pair of characters because I don't believe their story is quite finished.

Ok so I'm never the one to blow smoke up anyones ass so I can say with absolute confidence that I loved I Am Lioness!!!! I waited a long time to read this..this book was in the making for a while now and debut author Dee Garcia did not disappoint!!!
What I loved about I Am Lioness is that it got straight to the point..none of that unnecessary push pull angsty BS that sometimes gets in the way of the story. Knox and Hazel were two people that met had an instant connection and they acted on it. They knew what they wanted and went for it and I loved that!!
Hazel Perry is an underground MMA fighter...HELLO IM SOLD!!!! I think my actual love for UFC fighting made me get into this book that much more lol!! Hazel is the champ in the ring but out she struggles with some personal issues and she leads a life of solitude until she meets Knox Carr.

He's was head over heels for Hazel and nothing was gonna get in his way of getting what he wants not even Hazel herself when she tries to push him away. He's determined to be everything she needs and more in and out of the ring.

I have been so excited for this book and it did not disappoint! I loved reading about a female MMA fighter and a book where the heroine was a badass!! Hazel has a bit of a troubled past and this is a story of how she overcomes her past and becomes a fighter that dominates in the cage. Just wait until you meet Knox....whoa!! Instant attraction for these two and how they try to make their relationship work despite the obstacles that threaten to tear them apart. I enjoyed Hazel and Knox's story! I'll be waiting for the next book!

Lembro da primeira vez que vi esse livro no instagram e fiquei louca, pois sou dessas que não pode ver uma capa meio kickass e ainda mais quando a mulher é a dona de tal personalidade.
E fico mais feliz ainda em dizer que I Am Lioness não me decepcionou. Nem um pouco. Foi bem o que eu imaginei. I Am Lioness é um romance com uma boa dose de drama contado por dois pontos de vista, que talvez não seja bem o que a capa transmite, mas também vai trazer um pouco do mundo dos jogos da força bruta.
Hazel é a Lioness, aquele que por três anos consecutivos tem defendido o cinturão das lutas ilegais de MMA pelo país. Ao seu lado estão as pessoas que ela mais confia: Bernie, Manny e Jason, aqueles que a ajudam a ser quem é e a mantem nos trilhos e focada no que precisa fazer.
Mas um encontro casual praticamente dentro do ringue vai trazer Knox para vida dela, e isso vai fazer toda a diferença, pois a garota focada, nos trilhos e essencialmente perfeito no que faz vai titubear.
Quote: "Pelo menos dez fileiras atrás da gaiola, estavam os olhos azuis mais penetrantes que eu já tinha visto em minha vida. Sua clareza cortou como uma faca afiada. Eu literalmente senti como se eu não pudesse respirar."
Gostei de muitas partes da personalidade da Hazel, mas se apaixonar nos torna menos racionais e mais sentimentais, e gostei do foco do livro ter sido esse. Hazel é o tipo de pessoa que tem o dia a dia planejado, tudo sob controle e amigos selecionados, mas quando conhece Knox quer experimentar algo diferente e esquece um pouco a razão. E mesmo que seu amigo Jordan tente ser um bloqueador do que poderia acontecer com ela e estragar o que está planejado, ela fica irredutível sobre a entrada desse novo homem em sua vida.
Quote: "Grandes dedos decorados com tinta apertaram minha mão, causando uma nova onde de arrepios rompendo imediatamente pela minha pele."
Knox é um personagem à parte que me deixou enlouquecida logo no primeiro capítulo. E não estou brincando! Se ele não te deixar ao menos um pouquinho eufórica(o) no capítulo inicial não sei como será... Por vezes achei que ele era perfeito demais para ser verdade, mas o tipo de humanidade que a Dee Garcia pôs nele me deixou embevecida por mais e mais e mais... Foi uma macumba muito da séria! hahaha
Quote: "Esse tipo de comportamento não era normal para mim. Eu não pensava sobre mulheres, não namorava muitas vezes. Relacionamentos casuais eram tudo o que eu tinha permitido em minha vida após o desastre com minha ex, então por que eu estava oscilando em uma mulher que conheci por cinco segundos, estava além de mim."
Aí ele vem e diz isso depois:
Quote: "Com aqueles olhos castanhos chocolate e aquele corpo requintadamente esculpido, Hazel Perry era uma deusa feroz e eu era apenas um mendigo de joelhos orando em seu altar pelo mínimo de atenção."
E depois mais isso:
Quote: "Nossa atração sexual estava fora de questão e eu queria que Hazel soubesse que eu não estava apenas atraído por seu corpo. Fiquei atraído por cada faceta do seu ser, tanto por dentro como por fora."
Mas também não vou ser inocente e dizer que não desconfiei dessa bondade e cadência no decorrer da narrativa e enquanto outras tretas dentro do enredo eram desenvolvidas. Porque sim, desconfiei e muito. E ainda mais que o relacionamento deles é bem incomum e dá pra desconfiar imensamente. Meu desconfiômetro estava em 97% e não abrandei até a última página.
Quote: "Recostei-me no sofá, sentado confortavelmente enquanto esperava que ela respondesse. Ela poderia ficar lá o dia todo, se quisesse. Eu a esperaria para sempre."
Mas porque isso? Pois conforme Hazel vai ser tornando um pessoa mais feliz com o aparecimento e o interesse amoroso de Knox, outras coisas vão sendo desenvolvidas, principalmente sobre o passado dela e como se tornou uma lutadora. Realmente não esperava por isso, e foi mais um ponto para a autora. Hazel tem um passado um tanto perturbador, foi uma cacetada atrás da outra e não entendo como ela conseguiu se reerguer... as inseguranças que levou para a vida adulta talvez possa ser muito de revirar os olhos para alguns, mas para mim foi muito real, e falou diretamente comigo. Sentir algo como a Hazel sente é horrível. Acredite!
Também não posso deixar de citar os personagens secundários como Bernie que apesar de ter feito uma participação especial foi incrível e essencial. Mais uma vez parabéns para a autora por ter feito um livro real como a vida é. Manny todo caladão e Jason que me irritou loucamente em cada página.
A realidade é que imaginei que esse seria meio que um livro dark ou que a autora até que pegaria um pouco pesado em algumas coisas. Mas não. Não foi nada disso. Essa leitura é mais leve do que qualquer coisa que já li. É um livro fofo até, que fala mais sobre sentimentos e como lidar com eles. Não vá achando que seja nem mesmo hot, porque as cenas são raras e as que tem são muito bem escritas. Ainda estou de boca aberta com a Dee Garcia, conquistou meu coração!
É isso. Esse primeiro volume da duologia Bloodshed foi mais do que eu imaginei. Teve uma personagem que mais do que durona também se mostrou humana e com cicatrizes que mesmo com o tempo ainda precisavam de reflexão e cura. Um mocinho que me deixou ligada por sua paciência, mas também com infinitas suspeitas, sendo que essas ainda não estão completamente desfeitas já que é uma duologia e estou aguardando a bomba explodir de verdade. Além de um vilão que me deixou com medo da humanidade (hahahaha).
Amei essa leitura. Hazel é uma mocinha que vou guardar com cuidado por ser tão intensa e voraz, e sempre que puder quero reler sobre ela e Knox. Fiquei arrebatada pelo que sentem e como se gostam, além de como a vida é um ciclo interminável de oportunidades e vida para ser vivida.

WOW!!! I could NOT put this book down!!! Haley truly is a Lioness in all ways & Knox is hot, sexy, loving. You can't help falling in love with them!!! Author Dee Garcia is amazing & I can't wait to read more of her work!

When I read the synopsis of this book, I knew that I had to read it. It is so empowering reading a book were the main female protagonist is a kick-ass, take-no-prisoners badass! I mean, a romance staring a female MMA fighter, where the man sits on the sidelines and cheers on his women…yes please! This was the first book that I have read from Dee Garcia, but it won’t be the last. I really enjoyed this book and am extremely interested in the continuation of this series, but I did have some slight problems that hindered my enjoyment while reading it.
The writing was very strong and I am blown away that this is Garcia's debut novel! I thought it flowed seamlessly and the pacing was perfect! Some of the dialogue at the beginning threw me off a bit and I found myself having to re-read some, but once this book hit it's stride, it never relented! This was a quick, fun read that kept me on the edge of my seat, always leaving me wanting to know what was going to happen next.
I think the most unique thing about this book was the plot. As I have said above, this book centers around a female MMA reigning champion fighter. I loved how it went into detail about the fights, giving details so readers understood how extreme and gruesome these fights can actually get. The picture that Garcia was able to paint was perfect. I could actually see this book play out in my head as if I was there! With the popularity of so many male MMA fighter books, it was a breath of fresh air reading a beloved genre, but with a new and unique spin!
One of my downfalls of this book was my lack of connection with the characters. I did really like Hazel, but at the end of the book, I still did not feel like I really knew who she was. I liked her dark past and how it caused her to constantly push people away, but her mood swings started to wear on my nerves at times. Although her personality could be grating, she still felt like a very real, concise character. Knox was absolutely amazing! He was hard, but soft at the same time. I loved how he stood behind Hazel no matter what and was willing to pick her up every time she fell. I instantly fell in love with Knox and can’t wait to dive deeper into his character in book two!
The romance in this book was good, but my lack of connection with Hazel made me unable to fully commit to it. The thing I loved most about the romance was the fact that Knox loved that Hazel was a domineering, successful, powerful women and could hold her own without his help. I LOVED how he stood on the sidelines and cheered her on at her fights, never loosing confidence in Hazel’s ability to perform. However, I did sometimes found the pet name (AKA ‘stud’) Hazel called Knox a little annoying. It never felt fluid and at times took me out of the story.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. Although I loved the plot and the concept, I was never fully able to fall in love with the characters. I did start to feel more connected to them at the end of the book and hope that the continuation of Hazel and Knox’s story will only progress that farther. I hope to be able to read some more of Dee Garcia’s work in the future and am planning on continuing on with this story in book two!

For the month of May I choose to read two new indie authors and two best sellers. The indie books I choose were by the authors running the Dark and Dirty event at the Borgata in Atlantic City next summer. I Am Lioness, by Dee Garcia, is a debut indie novel. I have never read a book about a female fighter. I shy away from watching fighting on television, but I didn’t shy away from reading I Am Lioness.
There were parts that read slow, and parts I wanted more, but I always wanted to get back to reading to see what happened next. A clean debut novel for an indie author whom I look forward to reading more from.

I enjoyed Lioness very much. It was really quite unique and I found that it was not what I'm used to/what I usually like, and that's what I ended up liking most about it!
For starters, I feel like most books in this genre are focused on the hero, while this was heroine-focused. She's a total badass, but also very real- flawed and emotional. Then there's Knox... he is sweet, sexy perfection. Something I noticed right away about his point of view that I loved- he was not only focused on her looks and/or sex. The trend is these guys who are so obsessed sexually with the heroines, despite that the heroine may be going through emotional/physical trauma... the dudes still like "all I can think about is sticking my cock in her!" LOL Nope, not Knox. He actually gives a shit, ya know? He's actually the one turning her down because he knows she's in a bad place emotionally. You just don't see that very often.
That being said, I love my dark and steamy sex scenes as much as the next person, but it makes a book seem unrealistic when they're boning constantly, even in the midst of really hard/bad times. Again, big difference here- the characters actually wait quite a long while and it works amazingly. You can actually feel their connection as it grows, and then how it changes them once they take that step.
This was my first Dee Garcia book but absolutely not the last! I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This book is so incredible. I was hooked from the first word, and just kept drawing me in from there. Amazing writing. To start, Hazel Lioness Perry is one badass mama and that is so rare in books right now. Yes, you have strong females and characters, but not like this. And not as the main MMA fighter, where it's the guy who is in her corner supporting, and coaching her. It is a magnificent story. So many turns that you don't expect that keep this books light, and fun. So much love is shown and everyone fights for it. Especially Knox. He refuses to allow Hazel to pull away when he knows how much they mean to eachother. She tries more than once and both times he fights her, for her.
Knox, mmmmm what can i say other than...DAMN!!! So sexy. So sweet. So real. So manly. God, he is incredible. He is a big, strong beast that not only woo's, yes woo's Hazel, but he stands behind her, beside her and never tries to be her dominant other than in between the sheets. Which is perfect. He supports her in everything she does and he knows what she needs before she even does.

WOW!!! I had a feeling this book was going to be really good but omg was it AMAZING!! From the very first chapter I was sucked in. The words drew me in and just would not let me go! I love how in the book the roles are basically reversed when it comes to other fighter books. Hazel is a sexy badass who knows what she wants and what she wants is Knox. But she is scared. Scared she will be hurt and left alone once again. She is a fighter in the ring but she doesn't know how to fight for what she wants in her personal life. She is sexy and beautiful and so strong!! Konx. Oh Knox you sexy beast!!! He is sinfully sexy and will make you drool with what he says and does and you will love every minute of it! The way the treats and loves Hazel will make you swoon!!!!!! He is tall, full of tats, has hair you can grab onto and lips you just want to kiss and bite! he is just a dream! This is Dee's debut book and let me tell you she hit hit out of the park with it!!! The dynamics of this book and the storyline of this book was incredible. The chemistry between Knox and Hazel was electric and sizzling off the pages. I love how Hazel was strong and fierce but also so vulnerable at the same time and the contrast came across so well. I love how we got to know Hazel so well but felt cheated that I didn't get to know Knox the same way. That's the only thing that I have to say in the negative about this book. But other than that you would never believe that this was her debut novel. It was so well written with such depth and feeling that you would thing this would be at least her fifth book. And also this was a fantastic read and when you start you don't won't to stop....I didn't finished in one sitting. I would definitely recommend this book. So yes give this new author a shot you won't regret it!!!!

I kept seeing the teasers for this book on Instagram and after one of my current favourite Authors recommended this book it sealed the deal for me to preorder the book. Once the book hit my Kindle I was addicted to this story. A strong female character by the name of Hazel The Lioness Perry grips you from the start. She is woman and hear her roar. As a debut book for author Dee Garcia she should be extremely proud of what she accomplished with this storyline. The story is strong and grips you from the start to the very end. Hazel and Knox will take hold of your heart and hold it strong even after the story has come to an end. If you enjoy a book about MMA fighting, a strong female character, a hot as alpha male character and suspense, drama and some seriously steamy action then this is the book for you. Bring on book 2 as I can't wait to see what Dee has for us next in this fabulous new series.

Holy titfire... where oh where do I begin? Normally I am not into MMA type books. This is ironic because I LOVE UFC fights. Yet, in book form it doesn't do it for me. It is hard to describe a true MMA fight and do it justice with words. However, I stand corrected after reading this book. I am a believer. This book was descriptive. It captured the moments, the training, the dedication, and the blood.
Hazel. Sweet deliciousness. I have a serious girl crush. I almost want to push Knox out of the way just so I can have a chance with her. As Shakespeare said, "all though she be but little she be fierce." It describes her to a tee. She was sex on a stick. While she might have been lioness she didn't stand a chance when it came to denying her feelings towards him.
"The look he was giving me was similar to that of a lion hunting his prey. I could feel it raining over me, honed in on any and every little movement I made."
Knox. That man makes my ovaries explode. Dee could not have picked a better man for her muse because it was not just Hazel who felt that,
"All he had to do was flash me that damned smile, and I’d drop my panties faster than a crack of lighting."
Seriously, just take them. He was the perfect balance of sweet and dominant. He knew what he wanted and that was Hazel. He made it perfectly known upfront that the moment she gave in that she was his.
“I’m only going to say this once, so listen very carefully. If I kiss it.” I kissed her neck… “Lick it.” Another one on her chest… “Fuck it.” Between her tits… “And make love to it, then it’s mine. You are mine."

She gives enough details without it dragging on or being too much. This is not an easy balance to keep especially in sports romance where the women are usually not going to want to read about something (especially fighting) when they are here for the love and searching for their next book boyfriend.
And finally let's talk about the steam. Holy Crikey. These two are HOT. The chemistry between them was palpable from the start. When they finally did act on it my kindle was smoking. That being said though this book wasn't all about the sex as the first one didn't happen until around 60% There was an actual story written around their relationship that built up to that point and then continued after the fact.
Looking forward to the next book. I found this author via another reader group that I am a part of. I had not read any of her work but I followed her anyway because she struck a chord with me. I liked that I could follow her and watch her soar. Having finally read this book, and getting ready to read her other book I have no doubt she will become a favorite one click author for many.

This book. Oh man oh man! On instagram, there were teasers for this book waaaay before it came out. I was immediately intrigued and I was intrigued rightfully so!
This book in one sentence: Talk about a beautiful and stunning debut.
After reading the description, I knew immediately I had to have this book!! In this book we meet Hazel and she is a no-nonsense, head-strong MMA fighter. She's all about her training and has this unbridled passion for fighting. She's well aware that fighting consumes her entire life, but she's also aware that fighting isn't the only thing on her mind when her eyes meet a pair of piercing blue eyes that belong to a heart-throb named Knox Carr. Completely Gorgeous, insanely tattooed, and swoon worthy Knox feels the same immediate attraction Hazel does and once they meet, the rest is a whirlwind.
There are so many things I need to say about this book and I'm not even sure where to start. The relationship and chemistry between Hazel and Knox was complete fire! It was developed well and was incredibly real! I loved them together but I also loved them separately. We get to see how strong Hazel is and we also get to see why she became so strong.
