Struggling writer and nearly bankrupt Sean O'Shea is searching for the blockbuster story from which he can create a best seller. The goal is to regain his financial independence and self-esteem. When he learns of a horrific 1936 UFO crash in Germany's Black Forest, he chases the story to its origin. The discovery of insidious Nazi involvement piques his interest and when he unearths secret assassinations of previous investigators, he is hooked. As his probe continues, witnesses are murdered and he becomes the target of deadly agents sent by the most powerful man in the Vatican-The Black Pope. The cover-up is greater than he ever imagined. When he discovers that UFO's, Nazis, Wewelsburg Castle and the Vatican are connected, he has the killer story he envisioned, though it just may kill him to get it published.
Brian Gallagher’s first novel was the award-winning historical conspiracy thriller, Vatican Protocol. Gallagher's novel has been sold in more than twenty-five countries and is available in print, Kindle and as an audio book.
His latest novels, Serial K, Serial K Returns and Real Monsters represent a departure from the religious conspiracy theme of the Vatican Protocol. Serial K, Serial K Returns and Real Monsters are psychological thrillers that delve into the mind of a serial killer. This trilogy features recurring characters on an evolving journey. Serial K and Serial K Returns are both award winning thrillers with Serial K Returns named as 2017's top thriller by Readers Choice Awards. Real Monsters was released in late 2018.
The son of parents who met in art school, Gallagher discovered Ian Fleming's James Bond in high school. He was later fascinated by Robert Ludlum's stories of conspiracies between religious factions, governments and clandestine groups and is a strong influence on his writing today.
He is a graduate of Milton College, where he studied history, political science and religion. Gallagher's long career as a software executive led to extensive and frequent travel throughout Europe. The combination of his education and European travel created the foundation for his historical and psychological thrillers
Gallagher's style encompasses the following:
*Thorough research of his subject matter leading to a historically accurate narrative
* Expose little known facts that will shock the reader
* Include rumor, legend, superstition and purported facts into a plausible story line
*Provide factual detail for hotels, locations and as granular as restaurant menus
*Unmask institutional and governmental hypocrisy when appropriate
*Create multiple plot lines that builds suspense and allows for a fast-paced tale
*Leave the readers questioning if the story could be true
*Provide an outlet for social commentary
Gallagher released both Serial K and Serial K Returns in the first quarter of 2017 and Real Monsters in late 2018. Serial K Returns was named “Thriller of the Year” by Reader’s Choice International Awards in 2017.
All titles are currently available on Kindle and in print through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, selected book stores and over thirty online sites. His fourth novel, named Real Monsters, was released in October of 2018.
A crackling thriller about a writer's present-day investigation into rumored UFO crashes in Nazi-era Germany and Poland. He organizes a team to hunt down the truth, while a powerful person in the Vatican is determined to thwart their efforts. The author does a great job of weaving factual historical information through this fictional story. Highly recommend.
Vatican Protocol by Brian Gallagher starts off in the era of Nazi Germany, with very real and documented events concerning a UFO crash in 1936 near Freiburg within the Black Forest. The story is very well told, and catches the reader from the very first chapter with explicit details of a cover up of the downed saucer by the Nazis. As they race for world domination, soldiers of the SS recover the craft with mentions of the Vril secret society and Hitler's scientists looking to reverse engineer the technology that they happen to come upon for the V-2 rocket. As we know, the Nazis didn't win the war, but the cover up of the downed craft remained a secret for many years thereafter. The fable continues in modern times, when struggling author Sean O'Shea is seeking to write a best seller in order to save him from his financial woes. He confides in close friends familiar with the UFO story, and soon learns how deep the secret of the UFO crash goes-Up to and including the Vatican itself. Without a doubt, this book was very well researched with dates and events mentioned matching precisely to the history books, news, and documentation. Even the locations of businesses and restaurants are all very real, making one wonder if the story itself actually happened. The author is also talented in his detailed expression of writing, painting clear and intricate scenes of the situations at hand. This novel would be best enjoyed by those craving a great story about UFO conspiracies, and cover ups by the sometimes nefarious clandestine societies guarding the secrets of the crash. I also believe it's a must read for fans of History Channel's Ancient Aliens, along with listeners of the popular radio talk show Coast to Coast AM. I gladly, and without reserve rate this title 5 out of 5 stars. With such attention to detail, and documented facts peppered throughout the book, I will want to read it again and discuss the topic with other fans who I'm sure will find it as intriguing as I did.
The Vatican Protocol by Brian Gallagher is one highly entertaining novel. It's one of the few novels that exactly holds every theory on aliens, government, and religion as well as the advance technology. As a Catholic, I enjoyed this thriller like rush, of a plot and the determination of the main character. Readers can easily lose themselves in this complex tale. The danger creates an edge of your seat thrill that readers can't deny. I was so deep in the story that I read it all within a day.
Vatican Protocol shows a writer looking for an interesting story to write. Low and behold, Sean O'Shea finds just that...but what he didn't expect was for his story to be more than just an interesting bestseller...it was real. Agents, UFO crash, the Black Forest and Nazis involvement is sure to gain readers' attention. What started off as a research for a tale turn out to be a whole lot more complicated and deadly. As the writer continues with his research people are being murdered and he becomes the next target. A cover-up that involves the world's greatest conspiracy stories is found all masterfully woven inside this remarkable read. The question on whether Sean O'Shea lives to tell it is one that readers must dive into themselves to solve. Overall, I loved reading this brilliant thriller, and I highly recommend it to readers everywhere.
Remember how the Israeli secret agents in Steven Spielberg’s Munich enjoy a huge nosh up before going out to catch their prey?
In scene after scene of Brian Gallagher’s engagingly improbable romp** I recalled both the movie and the gag about Jewish history I’ve used in the title of this piece.
A first-time published writer, Gallagher weaves a deftly plotted tale involving Nazis, aliens and malevolent forces at the Holy See, while ensuring that his fictional cast remains very well watered and fed even to the end.
But readers must develop both strong digestions and a willing suspension of disbelief as the often gory thriller careers wildly from pre-World War II Germany to modern Oregon, USA, back to at least a half-dozen locations in present-day central Europe with loads of shooting and lusty swearing before landing comfortably back home in the final leg.
Gallagher is a natural storyteller but he needs to look at characterisation and style. While 'The Vatican Protocol' is not over-long, it is choked with faintly sketched figures in too many locales which makes the plotline difficult to follow and easy to forget. Several times I had to turn back for a recap.
Never mind! It’s not every newbie author who spots his novel nestling cheek by jowl in a shop window with one by Stephen King or who indeed is praised by the master’s first editor, Michael Garrett. To cap it all, the book’s cover has been placed first for the '2016 Book Cover of the Year' by 'Urban Lit' magazine.
However, I must warn Gallagher that he has hit on a magical mix of ultra-popular themes for 'The Vatican Protocol' and may need to work yet harder in order to maintain the pace.
This novel featured an extremely-engaging plot that moved at a fast pace and was constantly providing twists, turns and surprises. It was packed with murder, mayhem, danger, intense action, intriguing speculation and smartly-written elements of suspense. Gallagher managed to combine Nazi Germany, UFOs, aliens, the Catholic church, the Vatican, the CIA, Black Ops groups, assassins and an old, German castle without any of it seeming hokey or contrived. I found that, alone, note-worthy and quite admirable.
The characters were complex, vivid, relatable and had depth and substance. I loved the aspect of close family bonds and unity that prevailed throughout. It was both heartwarming and humorous how much these people loved to eat, drink wine and share a good meal together.
This story satisfied my literary hunger by delightfully and diligently feeding the conspiracy theorist in me. If you're looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and reading "just one more chapter", until you realize you have reached The End, then this is the book for you!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
Amazing twists and turns in this creatively written story!
I LOVED this book! I have recently discovered Brian Gallagher's books and so far I have yet been able to put them down once I start reading them!
This one has so many characters who are pretty active through out the whole story. That is something I love when reading! The descriptions that Brian uses for the people and locations and situations are so detailed that you can picture it all in your mind while reading it!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a little history and a lot of mystery!
An Excellent, well written book. It will grab your attention and not let you go, so make sure You have enough time on your hands to read it. Kudos to the author.
Enjoyed the story and description of their find. More people are getting a new view of alien beings and suspense filled book done by the author. Kudos to the author
Fun romp through conspiracy theory, history, religion, UFOs with a little wry humor thrown in here and there. I found myself referring to the Internet a few times to dig a little deeper into the historical events and found this fictional tale to be well grounded in facts. It's a fun read when you get to decide if you consider it fantasy or historical fiction. Thanks Brian Gallagher! I hope you are working on another novel!
