The Brotherhood #4

Lured to the Night

Rate this book
A woman tricked into marriage.

Seduced by the persuasive words of a rogue intent on stealing her humanity, Isla Maclean betrayed the man she loved and married a stranger. Abandoned less than a week after her wedding, Isla has spent three years lurking in the shadows, hiding her monstrous affliction, praying no one will discover her terrifying secret. But the villagers are suspicious by nature and someone is determined to use any means necessary to convince them she’s cursed.

A man who swore never to forgive her.

Three years of drunken debauchery had failed to dampen Lachlan Carrick’s desire for Isla Maclean. By rights, he should despise her. He should be the one leading the locals’ revolt against the woman they believe to be a devil’s disciple. But just because she had broken her oath to him, didn’t mean he felt any less responsible for her. Indeed, the passage of time had only served to prove that love was everlasting, and even the most wicked sins could be forgiven.

A Satisfying Ending to a Treasured Series
Gah, Novellas! What to do with you!! I wish this one were longer.
description
I felt there were things that could have been more developed if the author had given it more time. I don’t understand why she didn’t make it a full-length novel instead of a novella. Isla is a sweet, vulnerable, and intriguing heroine. Lachlan is a betrayed, strong, masculine hero. Their story of lost love was beautifully heartbreaking.

I don’t recommend reading this one unless you have read the rest of the Brotherhood Series. I have read everything published by Adele Clee and one of my favorite things about her is her consistency. I think of her 18 works I've only given two 3-star ratings. The rest are 4s or 5s. So, if you liked this book I would recommend more of her books. A Simple Case of Seduction is my personal favorite. WARNING: there is sex in this book, it is not erotica, but enough to be a steamy & hot adult romance. Please do not read if you are looking for something PG.

Lured to the Night is the final book in the Brotherhood series , a series that has kept me riveted, it’s fast pasted and never a dull moment.
Lachlan and Isla , have been promised for years , but then Isla changes her mind and in no time at all marries a stranger.
Lachlan is devastated and leaves for Edinburgh, throwing himself into a life of drink and women, for the next 3years.
Isla has had it worse , after being compelled to marry Nikolai, he leaves and she hasn’t seen him since , but she’s been left with a condition, no daylight, drinking nothing but blood , and now the locals are loosing cattle and blaming her , she needs help and fast .
Meeting Lachlan again is painful , but she needs him , together with Leo and Ivana who have brought a possible solution they continue to fight for a future for them both
Sorry to see an end to the Brotherhood books , maybe we can compel Adele to write more !

I wasn't sure about this book before I started reading it, but I did enjoy it. As an actual Scot, I tend to be wary of Highland/Scottish books written by non-Scots. Often the attempt at writing the Scottish accent sets my teeth on edge. Thankfully, this book did a good job.

As with the previous book, I thought the couple were overshadowed a little by a previous couple. While I do like characters from previous books being involved (it's always nice to see them again), it's important to get the balance right, so we still get plenty of the new couple. It wasn't as bad as with the previous book, but there still wasn't quite enough Isla and Lachlan.

I liked Isla and Lachlan and enjoyed their story, but I do feel their issues were resolved just a little too easily. Much more could have been made of their story. Still, it was an enjoyable book.

Isla and her curse

When Lachlan comes home he is surprised by the news that the village folk think Isla is killing their stock to drink their blood.
On visiting her she tells him of her illness, and how it means she is unable to go out during the daylight hours, so she goes out after the sun goes down, which is when the cattle are being killed.
On her return home she finds a carriage in the yard with a couple awaiting her return.
This is an extra to the Brotherhood series, which I recommend you read first. If you enjoy mythical stories with a strong love theme these are a great read. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have.

I ordered this book because it had my favorite couple, Leo and Ivana, in it with a surprise for everybody. Unfortunately, the story of Isla and Lachlan was not what I expected. It was mostly a rather sappy love story. Yes, there was a small mystery to solve. However, I identified the villain after a short read. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 3 is the fact that the motive of the villain was eluding me until the very end. That part was well done. And the book itself is a short and easy read.

Lovely ending to the series

This was a great easy read, and made one happy that there wasnt a lot of angst. The first three books had a bit more mystery and concern about the outcome for the characters, but I liked the flow of this book and how it brought about closure with a bit of spice love and romance., I would recommend this book after you read the first three. This author is one of my favorites and I will be starting the last of her series since I have read her other books. Enjoy

Wonderful!

Another wonderful addition to the Brotherhood Series! ❤ lvana and Leo travel to Scotland after Ivana has a dream. Isla is another one of Nickoli's victims and the people of her village are accusing her of being a monster. Lachlan has loved Isla all his life and will do anything to keep her safe. Absolutely love this series! ❤ ❤

This was a pleasant surprise of an ending to the brotherhood series. I thought another book would spoil what was achieved by the first 3, however, I was wrong. This book ties up loose ends very nicely. I love the fact that Leo and Ivana are in this book. Lachlan and Isla are interesting characters and I enjoyed them coming out from under the evil of Nikolai. A good round up of the tale.

Good

I really liked this book. It was great to see 2 ladies coming together in friendship to overcome a debilitating condition and both to find their one true love and overcome such odds to try and live their happy ever after.

Oh my...Isla and Lachlan's story was just as sweet and sexy as the previous couples' in the series.
With their story, the origin of the vampire curse is revealed. A very enjoyable read! 4.5 stars.

The end of a great series

I am sad to reach the end of the Brotherhood Series. What more can you ask for than a Regency romance with magic and vampires? I hope Adele Clee decides to write another series that combines Regency romance and the paranormal.

Enjoyed

I read the series - well written and enjoyable. 11 more words required which is ridiculous just to submit a review

Wonderful ending

Oh my how perfect the ending is... But now it makes me curious about the one who started it all and how he may have infected accidentally...
