Disrupt |disˈrəpt| : to cause (something) to be unable to continue in the normal way : to interrupt the normal progress or activity of (something) Marcus Nelson only wanted to take his son, Ali, on a college visit to Stanford University. An earthquake quickly turns the well intentioned father-son trip into an afternoon of terror. In A Hard Reset, the world before the earthquake does not exist anymore. The father, son, and the son's friend must use everything at their disposal to escape from the Stanford campus. Along with other survivors, they devise a plan to make it home safely. But any mistake can prove to be a fatal one.
I read the book first and then found this one so it was kind of a waste of time. This book is literally the prologue to the book and so is not needed as far as I can see. The one good thing is that it was free and so I do not feel so bad.
Oh my goodness, I loved reading this book. Very exciting story. I couldn't put it down and I didn't want it to end! The characters were easy to identify with i felt that I was there with them, but I'm really happy that I wasnt. I recommend this book to everyone! You won't be sorry if you buy this book!
It was a good short story. Definitely not what I am used to reading. It was hard for me to get used to but was ok once I did. I recommend taking a look and seeing if it is your type of book. I voluntarily leave an honest review of this advanced review copy.
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
Hard Reset is a short story in need of direction. I understand this is a work of fiction. But even fiction has to adhere to rules of continuity, believability, practicality. Humans walk and run upright, but these once human creatures run on all fours. This would slow them down considerably. Yet they now run faster. The human jaw can't rip through clothing and a mans chest to eat his heart in mere seconds. I'm left with a feeling that this is a chapter in a larger work. But the larger work doesn't know what it wants to be. Thus the chapter makes no sense.
A very short first instalment of a larger story arc with a cliffhanger ending. This took a while to get going, and there are aspects of the story that haven't been explained in this short taster. It didn't grip me enough to make me want to invest in the rest of the series, but it might suit those who like dystopian/zombie style fiction. Not for me.
A short read with what started out as a campus tour turned into a living nightmare. We don't get an explanation of the earth shaking and the light flashing or if or why this suddenly happened. Maybe in the next part of the story?
'A Hard Reset' was a little slow starting, but when I was closer to the end, the crap really hit the fan. A short story that leaves you with so many questions. Overall I thought it was pretty creative. I hope to read more of this series.
OK, the buildup was great and interesting. However, I did not understand how we got to the monsters on the campus and the ending left me a bit hanging because what happens after the shock and him saying we are humans.
A most interesting and riveting tale of terror. A must read for this time of the year. A fast paced read that keeps the adrenaline pumping as you read this story.
