Fast-paced thriller. I thought I knew where it was going but then it curved slightly into a better direction. If you're a writer, no matter where you are in your career, you can relate to what the main character is going through. Will read more from this author.
When Stu first rests his fingers on the keys of the old typewriter, he begins a new chapter in his life. The path he travels is clear to only one person, and that person is not Stu. It’s not the reader, either – I didn’t see the end of Stu’s story coming until the last few pages. The story is fascinating and the characters are very real. I wanted to take Rolo home with me.
This is a stand-alone book set in the unusual town of Weston, part of the larger mythos that Hank Garner is developing for the town’s history. It’s great entertainment, loaded with feeling. Read and enjoy.
Hank did a great job throwing a twist into this type story. A tug at the heart strings that wraps them around your spine and then ties it all up in a beautiful bow.
Weston is a special place... If you've read anything by Hank Garner you probably already know this. Stu knows he's stuck with the worst case of writer's block ever... He's broken and drinking. His publisher is after him and he knows that something has to give before those words will flow... find out how a typewriter, an angel, and a sick little girl helps Stu out of his predicament... This is one of the best serialized stories that I've read this year and look it's complete in one... So what's holding you back get the story...
What do you do if you have writer’s block and your latest manuscript is already overdue? What do you do if you buy an old manual typewriter at a yard sale and discover that whatever story you write there seems to come true?
This delightful, well-told tale, with its plot twists and an unexpected surprise or two, captures the reader’s interest from the beginning and keeps the pages turning right up to the unexpected ending readers won't see coming.
This is another story that deserves more than five stars. It was so very well written, and I have to admit that the end choked me up a bit. The characters have a depth that many authors have a hard time achieving. Garner makes it seem easy, and you won't be able to put this story down until you finish it. Bravo, Hank!
Engaging storyline with excellent character development. Highly recommend. Title got my attention, but not about what I expected exactly. You won't be disappointed if you read this well crafted novel.
