In those days kissing was the most explicit intimacy disclosed: the hero and heroine went to bed and came out the next day with smiles! I had no idea what happened, but I was intrigued. My mom had shelves and shelves of them. Over the long summer breaks, I barely left my bedroom! My busy parent had no idea what I was up to. I’ve always been fascinated with love stories. I started writing in college, but I never expected anyone would ever read my whimsical musings. LOL! Now years later, after husband and kids, and a solid career in finance I’ve started publishing those early ideas.
I write my stories so that every woman would be inspired to find the other half of themselves. With every story I tell, my Caribbean sisters are highlighted. Our culture is a melting pot of all ethnicities, where love has no color. We love who we love and make no apology for it. These stories are also infused with my love for sports and action thrillers. I’m an avid sports fan. Tennis, football, track and basketball are my favorites. I devour dramas and action movies. So it’s to be expected that my books have a healthy dose of adventure.

I already knew that I was going to enjoy this book because I have read everything by this author but to continue with stories that gets better with each book is amazing the way she can express the love and passion with action and words just takes you there I'm definitely a fan for life!

Loved It
I love D. M's style of writing. It was very interesting. I didn't want to put it down. The only thing is I wished she had gotten pregnant at the end so that Richard could experience it that time around

Very good reading. I couldn't put this book down.
The suspense was captivating and the ending was great. I'm going look for more books by this author. I hope there is a book with Sean's story.

Hot ..sexy...and action packed! Loved the chemistry between Kiya and Ritchie Rich. The supporting characters are very enjoyable story well written. Several typos in this one...still a great read! Definitely a fan of D.M. Mortier.

I knew going into this one that I was going to be in love with the characters. I loved it more after taking the journey with them. She was an enigma. She was the forbidden piece of fruit. She was the one thing he could not stay away from. She was going to be his not matter the consequences. Richard went after what he wanted. And he protected what he claimed. This angel, Kiya, was sent to him straight from heaven. She was to be his everything and then some. She was the key to his whole world.
The action, intensity, chemistry. All of it makes the reading so enjoyable. There are many characters to fall in love with. There are characters you want to know more about. There are other stories waiting to be told. I look forward to them all. D.M. Mortier has me hooked.

Just Amazing and out of this world sheesh
Ok this Authour is skilled in sex scenes, makes me feel like.i have never been loved correctly, anyways this book was amazing the plot the characters (SPOILER) the surprise twins I literally thought the nibbling on his leg was some dogs lmfao but kids omg, I only hated how stubborn Kiya was sometimes it was for good reason but mostly just her being overly independent which is understandable yet annoying but I still was rooting for her cause she didn't take no ish, as for my baby Richard his character again a strong alpha male he was everything he didn't have any bad flaws in my opinion a lil bossy but all for good reason, I hope to get a future series on an adult Ryder or a book with all the characters having dinner or something, I love how all her characters from diff books just pop up and connect to her other books. I read about Sean and Malika's story first so i jumped into excitement to see and reread their meeting like I said amazing book def recommend

Better than the first
Whew..this one cleansed the pallet from the first book in the series.I actually started this book first ,stopped ,read the first one, and then returned.im glad I started his one b fI re hand cuz the first book on its own would have made me give me up.i like the fact that this as a strong character , self assured and kinda kick ass. Love the fact that although she made some mistakes, she was not about to be pulled around by some alpha bully under the pretense of all consuming love.she was smart sexy bad ass and could take as well as sheet. A little weak in some ways but not a complete pushover like Mari and Richard was not a total waste tool like Nico.skip the first one and read this one instead.

This story has passion, action, mystery all wrapped up in one nail- biting read. The hero, Richard has one very dark past which you would never have guessed from meeting him in the previous novel ' I want to be yours'.in which he is perceived as the inveterate play boy. The heroine Kiya (aka Angel) also has her secrets. You will also meet Ryder and Kiana, both of whom you will absolutely love. The Guardian gang will also make an appearance and they will be needed in this intense story of love, sex, kidnappings, crime lords and long held vendettas. Oh yes! this story has it all in spades. A fantastic read Ms Mortier. Your books never, ever disappoint!! I would wholeheartedly recommend any and all of her books. Thanks for a thrilling read!!

OMG!!Just Good!!
What do you get when you mix two head strong people together? I can tell you great chemistry!The execution of this story is just so good that you are just shaking to get through till the end.The fact that we have children also included is just an added bonus,and they are just great.This was a blast of a story and I can't keep from singing its praises.Take a trip with two in love people and follow them on a high speed chase of mystery,murder,action and sexy characters and chemistry.

Oh my emotions...
Loved it! I can't help saying it every time I finish a D.M. Mortimer book. This one had me feeling all the emotions written - the highs, the lows, the crying, laughing and loving. I think I rode the roller coaster with each of these characters more so in this book than the others. I tried real hard not to finish this book because I truly didn't want it to end. Need more and more and more please?

First let me say I happened on D. M. Mortier by accident. Looking for a new book to read (while waiting on my favorite authors to release the next book in never-ending series, UGH) I loved "Secret Obsession" so much I checked out other books. I loved Richard's character, now i understand his behavior in "I want to be yours". Just was a strong black woman and I loved her character. I'm a true fan now Ms. Mortier. Now reading The Guardians.

Great story
Richard and Kiya were the shyt. They matched each other from wit to wit. I enjoyed reading about them and getting to know their story. These characters got on each other nerves but loved each other unconditionally. The author did a great job of mixing laughter with the serious of the story.

One of the best books I have read for a long while. Generally well written, well crafted story although a plot hole or two and the heroine somewhat annoying in bits. Well worth the read.

This story pretty much pissed me off. Did not feel any love between the two. Some parts were borderline rape. Only part that interest me were the mafia parts. He owned like an object and her weak a$$ let it happen. I don't know that I want to read the next one at all.

I loved Richard ... however Kiya got on my nerves by being so doggone hard-earned. All in all it was a good book and I recommend you read it.

Another excellent read. I love a story with a good mix of intrigue, strong female lead, alpha male, action, sex, and HEA. This story delivers on all fronts. I couldn't put this book down. I was kept on the edge of my seat through out.
It was also nice to see my suburb of Southgate in North London mentioned in the story.

Enjoyable.

Such a shame
The book was well written, with a mix of action and romance. Richard was a magnificent hero. Strong and fiercely loyal. However I just couldn’t stand Kiya, making it impossible for me to give a harder mark. She was childish and irrational. Five years before when she was Angel. She said she loved him, so why all the secrecy about her identity? It made no sense whatsoever. She then decided to leave him because, instead of communicating she convinced herself it was because she was a model that they were attacked. So why is she mad that they spilt up? He had lots of women afterwards sure but what did she want? For him to mourn her for years? It’s not like he could have found her to reconcile. Then she found out she was pregnant and did the unforgivable. She knew where he was but decided to be vindictive and make him pay for some imaginary sin. Now five years later and she is behaving like a lunatic. Again instead of asking him more details about the situation with his family, she is behaving like a toddler putting herself in danger to prove a point. Again with the running away and trying to dictate their life because he didn’t fall at her feet while she is clearly in the wrong. Unfortunately she never redeemed herself as a character and the final nonsense with the shaking up was just that nonsense. They barely had a chance to reconnect yet and sort out their issues. On top of that she prises herself in being a modern, independent woman so what the hurry?
Ryder was an amazing child. He obviously inherited Richard’s strength and analytical side. Ivan was obviously Richard’s dad, ready to sacrifice his life for Richard’s family. Call me resentful, but I would have never forgiven Mari and Mrs Darian for their interference. Mari, because with friends like her who needs ennemies. She was more concerned with staying in good with Nico’s family, than helping a friend in need. And the aunt was even worse. She knew Kiya was pregnant, she knew Richard was the father and instead of looking out for the welfare of these kids, she judged Richard with this nonsense about him having moved on and lied to him. Now 5 years later, after the birth of her own grandchild she had an attack of conscience and decided to play matchmaker. Too little, too late in my opinion.
Would love a sequel with Ryder as the Hero.

Debated reading this book for a while now and I’m thrilled that I did. It was very cuteee!! I loved how Kiya was portrayed as a strong FC and having her ish together whilst being pursued by the foineee Richard. The action was definitely gripping, even though I think the poor kids went through so much but overall the plot was good. Wasn’t a huge fan of how bitter they were at some stages but I guess it made them love even harder.
Overall, I loved how everything came together with romance, action and humour. Three key components to any romance book in my opinion. D.M Mortier definitely knows how to tell a story.

Oh, just So Good!!!
Richard and Kiya are the bomb. Richard is a strong, sexy as heck alpha male, and Kiya (Angel) is a beautiful, strong, intelligent woman. They both are stubborn. I love the suspense, the action, the mystery and the sexy chemistry of these two. The addition of Kiya having the twins was a beautiful part, but she should have told him. I love when Dominic and the other "Navy SEAL" guys show up to play. The laughter, action, and comradery to protect each other and their families when these guys help each other is so awesome. This is definitely a must read.

I have a problem with women who hold grudges against a man, especially about something important! Kiya is portrayed as this strong woman type, but to me she was often stupid and put herself in danger needlessly. Her character had to grow on me, which it did. Richard was the man and showed her his devotion to her from the very beginning. I really enjoyed this book along with the others from this author! Thanks, Ms. Mortier!
