I've always felt very uncomfortable with how the Perry character was treated in the first book. I get that Ansel was unhappy in their relationship, but the way he handled it in the first book was not ok. I really felt her pain - I mean, she'd been with this guy for six or seven years, been cheated on but was in love with him and trying to make things work, shared an apartment, engaged to him even (which means at some point, he proposed to her - think about that), and he just straight out ghosts her on an overseas trip with their shared best friends, then pops up a couple months later married to some girl several years younger living in the apartment - in the same bed even - that they both shared.
I would have liked this story for the resolution of that alone. I appreciated that everyone involved admitted that the way they all treated her was terrible because it was.
Now... this story was good, and I love Not-Joe. He's so much more than he seems, and I want him to help Perry rebuild her confidence after the way she's been treated as almost a villain for acting like the heartbroken wreck she was.
I just wish there were more... All these damn books need epilogues, but none more than this one just so I can know that the characters I'm actually invested in are ok.
