An unassuming scribe in a quiet and secluded village has his world turned upside down when a band of marauders attack. Now he must struggle, time and again, day after day, to find a way to stop them. However, while he tries to find a way to save the village and everyone he loves, he also has to answer one question: How many times can one man die?
This was a quick read that that pulled me through a lazy weekend. I was afraid that it was going to get repetitive, but the author somehow found a way to change things up enough to keep me entertained. There's a lot in the book that goes unexplained, but it doesn't really detract from the story at all. I think it will be interesting if the author decides to follow it up with a sequel and flesh out some of the world. It may sound a bit morbid, but I loved watching Edgard die over and over again each day and his reaction to it evolve as the story progressed.
