A continuation of The Continuum Conundrum—finally broke down and bought the rest of the series of Comixology (having read Back to the Future #6 & Back to the Future #7 back in April. Had to reread my reviews to remember the story.

Back to the Future #8 starts with a flashback to the 1890s where Doc has taken the time circuits out of the train and put them into a steam car. Blatantly going against what Doc said in BTTF3, he finds a steep hill (that leads into a future state park) and uses gravity to reach 88mph.

Crash back into the present, where we left off in issue #7, and Marty is trying to get away from Needles with the junked up steam car... Marty avoids the “chicken” taunt and Needles crashes into a truck that’s not as messy as manure (leading to a weird chicken and egg pun).

Marty, Doc, and Jennifer escape with the mangled steam car, finding a parachute connected to the time circuits. Again, Doc’s memory comes back just enough to advance the plot, remembering how he used a hot air ballon to rise to about half a mile, before using gravity to reach 88 mph in free fall (and then the parachute after the time traveling). Marty, ready for some more adventures, decides to tandem dive with Doc and go back to the future (again) to help him finish his mission...

A little more of the actual story (I like almost learning how Doc got out of the 1800s) but the way his amnesia comes and goes is frustrating... lazy writing in my opinion.

These comics are seriously hard to rate, being so short but they are well done and continue the world of BTTF that I love.

Another excellent issue with more Needles, further answers for Doc's origins and memory loss and another great conclusion.

I do like Marty's pun about the chicken and the egg, but I'm not sure I can imagine he'd speak like that. And when the eggs fall on Needles' truck, how do they get on him through the windshield? At least we're getting concrete dates in this. And I'm curious about what the year 2035 will look like.
