Modern Fairytales

With out of control curls, a smattering of freckles, and glasses hiding her dark eyes, Chrissy Masterson has always been the ugly duckling. She never thought she was pretty enough to garner the attention of her crush, Trent McAvoy. With countless nights spent dreaming of just one kiss from the tall, enticing quarterback, she's devastated when he leaves abruptly, their chance at love vanishing as quickly as the crowd after a football game.

Six years after leaving, Trent returns to his hometown hoping to find the girl that once stole his heart way back when, her wavy dark hair and gorgeous smile haunting him for all the years since they've been apart. He catches a glimpse of his curvy beauty one afternoon in the midst of her dance routine and is stunned to find that she's even more gorgeous than he remembered--she's blossomed into a devastating beauty in his absence. From the moment their eyes lock, he's smitten all over again. He'll do anything to get Chrissy in his arms and under his body, making up for all the lost time between them and taking chances he didn't have the courage to take last time.

Warning: Swan is an 11,000 word fairytale short story. It's all about syrupy sweet second chances at first love, and stolen kisses in the moonlight with a swoonworthy virgin hero and the woman he never could quite forget. Enjoy!

Type: Standalone Short Story
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Chrissy thought herself as an ugly duckling. She hid behind her glasses and quietly fawned over the high school star quarterback, Trent McAvoy thinking he would never notice her. She was disappointed when he disappeared out of town. Six years later, he's back and ready to claim her.

There was nothing standing between us anymore, and even if something did, I’d move hell and high water to make her mine.

This one was a cute read. The quiet girl who thought no one ever seen her lusting after the popular boy only to find out later that she had been on his mind since the beginning.

“God yeah,” he groaned as his body tensed beneath me, his hands around my waist, his head cradled between my voluminous breasts as he shot jets of white hot cum into my body.

And to add glitter sprinkles to it, not only she's a virgin, but he was too! [insert aww sound effect] But rest assured, that doesn't stay long because they were at each other as soon as they reunited haha!

Swan is an adorable quick read about finding love and recognizing one's own beauty. It's perfect for when you want something short and sweet.

There was nothing wrong with this one in regards to the writing or story, it's just that my personal preference is for more of a manly man. Trent was too soft and too much of a Momma's boy for me. I like a slightly grumpy, commanding, rugged and possessive man. Not to mention that the two sides of his character - the soft sweet Momma's boy and the dirty talking man - didn't feel like they meshed together very well. That meant that the sex wasn't sexy and the whole thing fell flat.

And that epilogue caused me to develop a spontaneous toothache. Sweetness overload. Jeez

Can someone please tell me if all this author's stories are like this one, because if they are it's best I just avoid them.

3.5 stars! So this was a sweet, too short sexy read. It was a bit rushed and I wish there was more to their story but I enjoyed it! The hero was exceptionally sweet and I loved him !Love their epilogue:)I'll definitely be reading more from this author as long as she stays safe for me:)

Safety gang safe
both virgins
both dated others
No details on what they did with others but it seems that they were true virgins and never did anything but kiss others:) I'll take it!!!
heroine did have a bf off and on for a year and was broken up with him for 6 weeks at the start of the book.
he shows up once and texts her a few times but she doesn't want him never really did!

What a beautiful and sweet quick read. My first book of Aria Cole and definitely not the last. In fact, I'm so glad to say that she's an auto-read for me because her books will always be safe from cheating, love triangle, sex outside the H/h, menage/sharing and abuse/rape. Plus her books will always be HEA.

The story was about Trent and Chrissy, both 22.

Trent left six years ago to study and he got his degree in sports medicine. Now he's back in town for good as the new coach and he wanted Chrissy to be his.

Chrissy was a nerd and an ugly duckling at the time but Trent wanted her even before he left. And now that he's back, he wanted her even more.

Everything happened so fast but they already wasted six years and they didn't want to waste time anymore.

He was so good to her. They were so good together. And there's a cute epilogue. I can't wait for more Aria Cole's books.

Even though I don't like reading about virgin heroes that was a sweet and sexy story. Epilogue with twin babies was nice.

Love that they are both virgins and saving it all for each other.
Wow just great and hot but way too short.
The whole mama boy thing I don't see it as a problem because he respects his mother and it's sweet.
He treats her right and that's the way you want to be treated.
Respect and affection are not signs of a mama's boy to me. I guess I see it differently because I have 3 boys myself. It lost a half star because I could not understand how a man with no experience could be as OMG hot in the bedroom or any other room?
I mean wow really?!

I just don't get that.

What a beautiful and sweet story, i suppose almost everyone had a huge crush in their lives well Aria Cole brought this subject up by creating this lovely story Swan. Chrissy always thinking bad about her appearance and not be very bold but more like a mouse since she was little she had a crush for the quarterback Trent McAvoy and never expected that he will see her as she sees him, but six years later Trent is back and Chrissy is about to one Big surprise about that.

Trent wow Trent i loved his possessive, bold character the sexy male wanted her for many years back and now he will seize the chance he is been given to fill for all those years/time he missed. Their story is like a fairytale indeed like the "ugly duck who becomes a swan and wins the beautiful, sexy prince", it was very enjoyable and the author definitely will become one of my favorites, the ending was fantastic and sweet like a candy. I definitely recommend this beauty and i'm looking forward to read the next book the author will write!!!

Swan was such a cute read. Chrissy and Trent were so sweet with each other. After so much time had passed they managed to find their way back to one another. They had gone to high school together and the sweet need had a crush on the schools star quarterback. Unbeknownst to Chrissy, the star quarterback had returned her affections but was too shy to make a move. They find each other again and sparks fly between the two.

This one is perfect if you're looking for something quick, sweet, and a bit sexy.

There is short and there is short...this was too short. This has the potential to be a great story but it moved so fast, unbelievably fast that it just didn't give credence to anything that happened. It could still be a short story but it needs a little fleshing out in places so that you can at least know something about the characters. Took me less than half an hour to read, so you blink and it's over.

Chrissy Masterson has come a long way from the chunky teenager to the full figured woman she was today. With a bad relationship under her belt, she runs into one time crush from high school, Trent McAvoy. Trent wasn't mature enough in high school to take a chance on Chrissy, but six years later he plans to win her heart and soul.

The problem with quickies is they are too quick. This was fun, but not a lot of development with characters and rushed. I liked both Trent and Chrissy, thought they were a beautiful couple and the heat level was scorching.

This was a nice, quick story. I with it were a little longer so we could have more detail such as why Trent left and didn't come back home until 6 years later. We knew that Chrissy was 16 when he left and they had been childhood friends, but what prevented them from being friends in high school and also, how old was Trent? Was he also 16 years old? I could understand if he were 18 and she were 16 and he left to go to college, but what reason would a 16 year old need to leave? These are questions that probably should be answered.

Also, what is the deal with him living at her house? I know he came back to coach, but shouldn't he want to provide for her and move into a bigger place? I think this just bothers me because nothing was mentioned about where he was for the last 6 years...did he not save money or have any to help provide for her? I guess it is stereotypical of me to assume that the man would be the alpha and want to provide for his girl, but, hey, that's how I roll ;-)

Still, pretty good story by Aria Cole and after this I'm definitely looking up more books written by her!

I love a quick, steamy, hot read and that's exactly what Swan is and MORE! This little naughty taken on the ugly duckling by Aria Cole is like foreplay. You'll want to grab your significant other afterwards and act out this read!

We meet Chrissy who is a curvy dancer getting her life and thoughts back together after being with a grade A a**shole boyfriend. A hot sexy stranger (or is he?) startles her when she's done dancing and welcomes his devilish grin. After going to her favorite bar for dinner she's surprised when the stranger pulls up a seat next to her ... he's no stranger at all, he's former star quarter back Trent and he's back in town.

This will melt your panties, warm your heart, and give you the best post-read afterglow imaginable!

Aria Cole is becoming one of my top 5 favorite writers!! I cannot wait to see what classic fairy tale she takes on next!

First time reading this author's work and wasn't sure what to expect. I do like to read a sappy, fluffy romantic story at times, and this book imparted some of that. There was a tiny bit of dirty talk (at the end), a tiny bit of drama (in the middle), and lots of fluff. The two main characters waited six long years to find each other and once they reconnect, no time is wasted in planning to have children, moving in together, and quickly starting a life with one another. Those aspects made this story feel very much like a fairytale and very sugary sweet.

I didn't feel the connection, intensity, or passion that the two lead characters should have had for one another until the epilogue. Everything before that seemed a bit...dry. I liked the idea of two people lusting after each other for years only to separate and then find each other again, but the execution of this story didn't quite work for me. However, I did like the epilogue and this book may be perfect for someone interested in a book that features:

POV primarily from lead female character
Lead female character with the petname "kitten"

Very short story
Sugary sweet epilogue

This is one sweet quick read.
A curvy girl who loves to dance and grew up believing that she wasn't pretty enough. One night she's in the studio practicing, and looks up to see a handsome man watching her through the window. He waves at her and then winks before he walks away.
The author has written an updated fairytale based on the story of "The Ugly Duckling." I loved this version. The curvy girl and a handsome man. So sweet and sexy.
Oh, I almost forgot the best part. High school crush and male virgin.

Aria Cole I loved the updated version of "Black" and looking forward to the next stories you have to give us.

To be fair, its not a bad read, and I'm good with insta stories, but I guess I was in wrong mood to read it or it just wasn't for me. I was annoyed with Chrissy. For someone, who dreamed about forever relationship, like her parents, she so quickly spread her legs for a guy she just meet and who spew some sexy and sweet compliments to her. So what if it was someone she knew years ago and had a crush on him. She had no clue what kind of a guy Trent was at the present. It's probably my suspicious nature not happy with her actions. Lol. And also I think I had a problem for her reacting to him and his words that way because how she saw herself. Ugly duckling. She saw herself like that, so his words I think should have sounded as a lie to her or at least she should have some doubts. But she just absorbed Trents sweetness like a thirsty sponge. And maybe I would have felt differently if there was more backround built around characters. But then again, it was short story for that.

I love a sweet second-chance romance and this one fit the bill.

Can you imagine that cutie you were crushing hard on in high school, showing back up in your life years later and flat out declaring his love for you? Telling you he even had a thing for you back then but was just too shy to say anything?!? Oh how I would love that! And that's exactly what happens with Chrissy, when Trent moves back home after being gone for 6 years. The attraction between the two was immediate, but beyond the physical you could really tell how much Trent cared for her. They had an endearing connection and you couldn't help but want them to live the fairytale happily ever after.

This is a quick, sweet, enjoyable little read that will make you believe the ugly duckling really can transform into a beautiful swan...in the eyes of the man who loves her.

This very short story (510 locations on Kindle) had potential, but the shortness of the story gave no time and room for development of the plot and characters. It moved unbelievably fast it gave me whiplash. This read more like a rough outline of a story. I believe if Swan were to be expanded and developed with more depth I can see it being a good story overall. From what I read, I can't say that I enjoyed it unfortunately.

Yes, I have a thing for virgin heroes, and Trent is perfect. He is so sweet!
It's a really short story but Aria made room to show Trent's relationship with his mother (What? I was melting... so cuuuute!)
A nerd and a jock, years later, after they grown out of their pubescent minds... They find each other again, he is home again and he knows what he wants now.
Loved it!
So dreamy

Sweet and sexy.

Swan is such a sexy, sweet second chance romance. A virgin hero and heroine both looking for the perfect person, but unable to move past their high school crush.

Loved this one, lots of romance and dirty talking -- yum! And a happily ever after too!

Four stars and four wet panties.
