Sinclair Vinemont, an impeccable parish prosecutor, conducts his duties the same way he conducts his life--every move calculated, every outcome assured. When he sees something he wants, he takes it. When he finds a hint of weakness, he capitalizes. But what happens when he sees Stella Rousseau for the very first time?

Sinclair is a prologue to The Acquisition Series and is told entirely from Sinclair Vinemont's point of view. It can be read in one sitting.

★★★★★! Sinclair, book 0.5 of 3. Introduction to the Acquisition series. How Sinclair met Stella & how that affected her role is in a devious game called the Acquisition!

“I wanted to give it back to her, make her scream and call my name—in agony or pleasure, or that perfect mix of both.”

Books in Acquisition series should be read in order:
Book 0.5: Sinclair
Book 1: Counsellor
Book 2: Magnate
Book 3: Sovereign

Sinclair (prologue) is the introduction to the series and the man that will dominate the pages of this story and Stella Rousseau’s life plus keep you coming back for more!

It’s an uncanny glimpse into the mind of counsellor at law, businessman and heir Sinclair Vinemont, Sin:

With a flashback from his past shaping him into the man he has become.

“Nothing was out of place. Perfection was my favorite form of control.”

It covers his first meeting with artist Stella Rousseau.

“She was fire, but she could be contained. Dominated. By me. And I already felt the need to do it again.”

Which had everything to do with the direction their lives took thereafter.

Sinclair told from Sinclair’s POVs introduces us to a dark legacy, a challenge called The Acquisition. Set amongst the glamorous Louisiana elite a clandestine, deprived game of power, sex and greed is set to play out with Sinclair and Stella center stage.

Suspense! Intrigue! Erotica at its best! Brilliantly told!

For those of us that loved Celia Aaron's 'Acquisition' series, this was a nice little extra. I didn't really think it added much to the story, but it was still nice. At around 50 pages, it was also an incredibly quick read.

Told from Sinclair's POV, this novella provides some insight into his mindset in the days leading up to the start of the Acquisition trials. Mostly, this short prequel describes how it is that Sinclair came to be chosen for the Acquistion trials and how Stella came to be his selected acquisition. For the most part, this was nothing new or surprising, although I found Sinclair to be colder than I remembered.

This novella also elaborates a bit more on the traumatic events that took place in his childhood, forever changing the man he would become. His mother played a vital role in molding him into the aloof, entitled man of present day. It ends up that the Acquisition trials had impacted his life long before he was chosen to compete.

All in all, this was a nice way to spend a little time. It can easily be read in one setting. Although it provided a few more details and some insight into Sinclair's thought process, it wasn't essential to understand or enjoy the series. If you want to pay the $.99 to savor a little more time with Sinclair, great. If not, it isn't necessary.

I would like to start by saying the Acquisition Series was a favorite read for me. The wickedly wild mind of Celia Aaron delivered a mind blowing read that kept me riveted. So when she announced that she had written a prequel to the series I was super excited!!!

This story, Sinclair, as in Sinclair Vinemont, is about the beginnings of how Sinclair and Stella meet. Having read the series, getting more background about Sinclair was wonderful . Sinclair is an enigma of darkness and his thoughts and desires are told in his POV........snippet of his childhood, his life as a prosecutor, his life as an Acquirer and how he Stella changes his world.

So what I want to say........If you read The Acquisition Series (Counsellor, Magnate, Sovereign) you will love Sinclair. If you haven't read The Acquisition Series and love dark, sexy, wildly wicked reads, then get started and rest assure that this prequel is a perfect start to an amazing series.

So I have to confess I have read Sinclair (Acquisition #0.5 ) by Celia Aaron backwards. I read the Acquisition series quite a while back, only discovering I should have started with this after.
So this little morsel has been sitting on my TBR pile for ages.
Problem is when you know how the story progresses it's like a huge spoiler alert blinking at you.
Then I read Celia's Incubus and this just happened to be a freebie at the end, so I was out of excuses.
So This is short and sweet, of novella length.
It's basically a brief intro to set the stage for the upcoming series.
So Sinclair gives us a peek into his head, what makes him tick and it's not a pretty picture to behold.
Told from his POV we get to see Sin in all his arrogant glory and he comes across as a grade A tit, an over-privileged stick up his bum douche.
Should just say That I Was kinda expecting that considering I knew how this series plays out.
We don't really get to see much of Stella here, that comes later, as I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, that the following books are told from her POV. (It's been a while)
So as I mentioned earlier Sinclair set's the stage hoping to draw us into reading Councillor.
Does this do that? Well, I did enjoy this but it didn't blow me away.
If I was considering reading the whole series, well I'm not sure this would have done that, it was just average.
But don't let that put you off the Acquisition series makes for some brilliant fiction, it's honestly up there with my favourites. and I read a lot so that's quite a feat.
I'm even considering a re-read of this if I can fit it into the books I want to have another go at Pile (there's a few on that one as well)
So that's all folks, hope you give this ago it's a small snippet that leads into a fabulous series.

In Sinclair, a prequel novella, we are given more insight into Sinclair Vinemont’s motivations and inner turmoil. Told in Sin’s POV, the book opens with an early memory that is permanently etched in his mind. Setting the stage for what is to come, Sin’s mother is intent on raising Sin to be a man of strength and unbreakable resolve.

“Don’t you ever beg anyone! You hear me? You’re a Vinemont. You don’t cry. You don’t beg. You do what you have to do to keep this family on top. Do you understand me?”

Fast forwarding to the present, the next Acquisition trial is looming with the three Acquirers to be announced by the current Sovereign. Parallel to the forthcoming edict, Sinclair, a district attorney, is immersed in a legal trial he hopes will benefit him in more than just a professional level. Sin sets his eyes on Stella Rousseau, the daughter of the defendant, and is determined to use her to his advantage.

description

“This was only the beginning. Her hatred would build until her other emotions were weak whispers next to how much she wanted to destroy me. I needed to taste her rage, to savor it on my tongue.”

By reading the entire series before the release of this prequel, I was at an advantage of knowing the end result; however, it did not lessen the impact of looming doom and deviance that lay ahead in the series. Therefore, this novella sets the stage and gives the reader a taste of the pervading darkness and how Stella will be indelibly weaved into the world of the Vinemonts.

“I knew I wanted her beneath me, my hands on her body, and her blood in my mouth.”

The Acquisition series is masterfully written with compelling characters and a multi-layered plot centered on themes of intrigue, deviance, power, greed, lust, redemption and love. I highly recommend!

Sinclair is a prologue to the Acquisitions series and offers the perfect introduction in a bite-size chunk as to the tone and feel of what a reader may expect from the series. It provides a taste of the crazy depraved story and shows the promise of a potential romance that remains at the heart of the telling throughout the series.

For readers who have already devoured the Acquisitions and have felt the full force of the story then Sinclair doesn't really offer further development in terms of what we already know but rather expands on the scenes we are privy to prior to the start of COUNCELLOR, so for fans of this series it will be a total treat to read more Sinclair.

***Ideally Sinclair should be read first and leads directly into the full first novel of the series.
(A taste of which follows on after Sinclair.) -->

SINCLAIR is the PROLOGUE to the ACQUISITION three book series which should be read in the following order-->
Sinclair
Councellor
Magnate
Sovereign

I once read this autobiography written by a real life, medically classified, psychologically bonafide sociopath, and let me tell you something, it made for some pretty tedious reading. Turns out, when sociopaths aren’t killing people they are pretty goddamn boring. Apart from that, reading about a person with zero inner conflict, a lack of self-preservation and no emotional connection to anything is a sure way to put you to sleep. Why am I telling you all this in a review about another book? Because if that book had an opposite, it would be Sinclair.

High-functioning, non-criminal (the boring, non-killing) sociopaths are charismatic and charming. They are charming and ruthlessly manipulative. They study you quietly to find your flaws and feel no guilt or remorse about exploiting those flaws to get what they want. I believed Sinclair Vinemont to be a sociopath. This prologue to the Acquisition series does a fantastic job of setting him up as one and an even better one of setting up the entire series without giving anything of the tumultuous journey ahead away. It doesn’t give great insight into Sinclair’s mind. It only hints at the shocking things to come. But it does create room for inner conflict, it does instil fear and it does promise great emotion.

The Acquisition series is a brilliantly written series which had me feeling many things. Mostly rage and hatred. But the development was perfect and the reveal of secrets and motivations was perfectly timed and Sinclair is the perfect setup to a series of books that proved to me one thing: Under the right set of circumstances, just like these characters, I am probably capable of murder. Though instead of turning into the female version of Dexter, my murderous rage would be fuelled by passion.

This is how everything started. My only complaint is that we get to see only glimpse of very important events pre- Acquisition:

-Young Sinclair watches his mother killing someone, listens about the Acquisition games for the first time and is forced to grow up prematurely.
-The first time Sinclair lays his eyes on Stella and he decides that he wants her badly and not in a very conservative fashion.
-The show trial where Stella’s father is evicted fair and square.
-Sinclair finds out that he will be one of the players in order to become the next Sovereign.
Cake with blood, anyone???

I read this short book, after I read the Acquisition trilogy.
I was expecting to dive more into the subconscious self of Sinclair, to learn more about the events that made him what he is. Unfortunately, it was too short. A lot of events described very briefly like I was watching a photo album.
I would prefer it more if the story concentrated in one event and the description was expanded e.g. Sinclair’s childhood or how he behaved with Stella before he made his proposal.
Nevertheless it is a good introduction to the series and it can be read at the beginning or at the end. If you start with this, it will not influence how you will perceive Sinclair or Stella in the next books.

This book tells us how Sinclair became the man, whom Stella hates at first sight. And how Stella got his attention the first time he saw her.

While a trial is going on, for the indictment of Stella’s father for unscrupulous business dealings, Sinclair can’t help but smitten by the beauty of Stella and imagine everything that he can do to her to give her pleasure in bed. Would she beg? Would she fight? Sinclair can’t wait to find out what Stella is made of.

A perfect prologue to a great series. Kudos Author Celia Aaron for letting us into the mind of an unforgettable Counsellor.

5 "There is no going back." Stars

To preface this review I must state that I've read the Acquisition series in it's entirety before reading this prequel. For me personally, this was a nice little ditty allowing me to crawl further into the mind of the one and only Sinclair Vinemont. However, for readers who've already read the series the prequel doesn't offer a whole lot of new information. Although it was a treat for me to back inside Sin's mind because oh, what a wicked place to be.

With that said, Sinclair is the perfect prelude for those who haven't read the Acquisition series. This short story tantalizes and teases readers leading them to the edge of the dark world in which Sinclair lives. The Vinemonts are haunted by the world they live in and Aaron skims the surface alluding to the depth of story she creates throughout the whole series. You meet all pertinent characters to the trilogy. Celia Aaron did a fantastic job opening up the series with this prequel because of this. The strength of her writing and story telling chops show brilliantly in this beginning chapter of the depraved world of the Acquisition.

Now that the series is complete, I'd suggest starting here with Sinclair and strongly urge the move forward to the rest of this hauntingly beautiful series. Celia Aaron's mind is deliciously twisted place to spend your reading time.

My 5 star reviews for the Acquisition series:
Book One: Counsellor
Book Two: Magnate
Book Three: Sovereign

I quite enjoyed this glimpse into the mind and thoughts of Sinclair Vinemont and the events that precede Counsellor, Magnate and Sovereign.

I especially loved the fantasies he had about Stella oh la la *fans self* smoking hot don't do them justice. I should warn that reading this will make you want to re-read the entire series and if you haven't read them you'll definitely want to start Counsellor immediately after finishing Sinclair.

All in all Sinclair is a short yet enjoyable read that I'd recommend whether you're a fan or new to the series.

Sinclair is handsome, dark, and determined to bring justice against the criminals in his parish. He goes after what he wants and he gets it. His family has wealth and power, everything you could want, but when he sees her he knows he has to have her. Stella has a strength in her eyes that he wants to break. Sinclair is the prologue to the highly rated Acquisition series.

"I kept the image of Stella in my mind, relishing the way her hate kept me warm."

As someone who read and loved the Acquisition series prior to this prologue it is so hard not to go on and on about Sinclair without giving anything away, but it is everything you want to know about the handsome Vinemont and then some. Those tiny questions you might have had lingering in your head about him from the series? Answered. Maybe you're interested in the Acquisition series and you're too afraid to start at number 1? Definitely start with this prologue. It gives you just a taste of what is to come in the series, teasing you with Sin's thoughts and getting you right to the edge of the haunting Louisiana parish he resides in. Sinclair is a closer look at the handsome Sin Vinemont that you don't want to miss and a brief look at the past that leads up to Counsellor. The writing is fantastic and weaves you into the story from page one, you'll find you won't want to stop with just Sinclair, this prologue is not to be missed. Celia Aaron has once against masterfully brought to life the dark, seedy, and sexy world of the Acquisition series.

I highly suggest starting the Acquisition series from the prologue and continuing with the rest of the series from there. My reviews for the remainder of the series are linked below.

Sinclair is a perfect introduction to the Acquisition Series, a novella that allows you to become acquainted with the darkness, corruption and more importantly Sinclair Vinemont. Celia Aaron gives readers insight into his twisted thoughts, his attraction to Stella and the possibilities in his future.

Reading this book after I had finished the Acquisition Series solidified my love for Sin and Stella. Giving me the chance to indulge in more of the debauchery, I was taken back into their world and left wanting to re-read the whole series. Given another layer to add to the multifaceted man named Sin; Sinclair is everything a reader needs and didn’t know was missing.

For readers that are new to the series, this will have you frothing at the mouth and desperate for more. I envy your introduction into the series and love that you’ve been given another reason to love Celia Aaron, her writing and Sinclair and Stella.

Solidifying my love for this author, her creativity and her characters, Celia Aaron has made sure that this series is unforgettable.

This was a short dark quick read that I liked. Sinclair " Sin" Vinemont, an impeccable parish prosecutor that uses his position to get what he wants. This was a prelude to a new series to me and this book was a good start to what Sin wants and he wants Stella Rousseau. Stella has watched her father being found guilty to running some kind of scheme to get money from the elderly. Sin is harassing her family making their lives hell she knows what he is doing is not right. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Sinclair is the prologue to the Aquisitions series and is told in Sinclair Vinemont's POV. I was pretty sad when the Aquisitions series ended. I wanyed to burst into tears because I truly loved the series so much. When I heatd that Celia was going to do a prologue on Sinclair, I junped for joy. (I love Sinclair Vinemont). I was so happy. Even if this book was short, I was just happy because it was more about Sinclair and I slways want more Sinclair.

Sinclair was really about understanding the events that led to Stella and Sinclair meeting. We got to see a little glimpse of Sinclair's past and how he got to be the man he is and I loved it. It allowed me to understand him a lot. Plus reading it in his POV provided more depth to him and his character. After reading this prologue, it allowed to fill in all the missing gaps it needed to better understand how everything happened. I thank Celia for writing this short story because it allowed me to see who Sinclair really was before Stella came to his life and also how his attraction for Stella started

Sinclair was a short story but it really gave us a compelling and unforgettable story. It had the drama and intrigue just like the rest in the series and of course it was oozing with darkness. I highly recommend this book and you have not read this book then you need to asap.

The prequel to Celia Aaron's Acquisition series, Sinclair, is perfect. It contains just enough information to whet one's appetite for the series itself. It helps us understand a little of the background and present day mindset of Celia's lead male character, Sinclair Vinemont, heading into the first book of the series, Counsellor.

In retrospect, I recommend reading the series first and leaving this little gem until later just for suspense' sake. But maybe that's just because that's how I did it and it was very satisfying.

Wow !! ATTENTION GRABBER !!

If you are new to this series, as I am this short prologue will definitely grab your attention.
Sinclair was just the push I needed to get my butt in gear to reading the rest of the Acquisition Series. To say I am intrigued with Sinclair and Stella is an understatement. While this a a little taste of what to expect, there is much going on. It will definitely leave you hungry for more.

Overall I loved it and I am quite excited to see where this series takes me..

Sinclair is a must read for those who have read or are reading the Acquisition Series by Celia Aaron. This was an excellent kickoff for the series. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it......but I can’t read the next one. The thoughts running through my head as I read were horrible. My stomach is actually queasy thinking of the hell hes going to put her though. I’ve read books like this before with just a slight discomfort But this man just oozes Evil without the slightest moral compass. (Shiver)

"Don't you ever beg anyone! You hear me? You're a Vinemont. You don't cry. You don't beg. You do what you have to do to keep this family on top. Do you understand me?"

Sinclair takes place before the events in Counsellor and dives into Sinclair's mind as he learns he will be an Acquirer.

This was a quick and enjoyable read! I loved reading from Sin's perspective and found the opening part of this book added to the overall series. Something extra. Something dark. I definitely have a book hangover from the whole series and would LOVE maybe another novella or spin off *pretty please*

One thing though I wished there had been maybe a chapter or two more- we didn't get to read HOW Sin convinced Stella's father to let him acquire her.

Overall, loved it && I'm going to miss (most) of the characters ♥
