Perfect for reluctant readers and word lovers alike, Dan Gutman’s hugely popular My Weird School chapter book series has something for everyone. Don’t miss the hilarious adventures of A.J. and the gang.
The author of over 80 books in a little over a decade of writing, Dan Gutman has written on topics from computers to baseball. Beginning his freelance career as a nonfiction author dealing mostly with sports for adults and young readers, Gutman has concentrated on juvenile fiction since 1995. His most popular titles include the time-travel sports book Honus and Me and its sequels, and a clutch of baseball books, including The Green Monster from Left Field. From hopeful and very youthful presidential candidates to stunt men, nothing is off limits in Gutman's fertile imagination. As he noted on his author Web site, since writing his first novel, They Came from Centerfield, in 1994, he has been hooked on fiction. "It was fun to write, kids loved it, and I discovered how incredibly rewarding it is to take a blank page and turn it into a WORLD."
Gutman was born in New York City in 1955, but moved to Newark, New Jersey the following year and spent his youth there.
This is a good, fast and easy to read book, with a big twist at the end. But I feel like Andrea went a little too far with the zombie costume. And Aj’s parents should have been a part of deciding whether he was a supermodel. All in all, this book is good for any reader.

It was picture day and Ms. Joni was the photographer. She took photos because that's what a photographer does. She did a lot of crazy stuff. In the book, there was a girl named Andrea and she dressed up as a picture day monster and ripped up all the pages that Ms. Joni had taken of AJ because he had become a supermodel and Andrea wanted to be one, but AJ got to be it.
It's Picture Day at Ella Mentry School! And the photographer wants to make A.J. into a supermodel.
Another fun installment of the series. While a lot of parts in the series seem repetitive to me as an adult, my seven-old-year son still enjoys the books.
Totally inappropriate when Ms Joni wants AJ to put on a bathing suit and be a model on a sports magazine. Seems like his parents should be involved in that decision. And also it makes Ms Joni seem like a creep.
A view on picture day from a quirky, sarcastic 3rd-grader named A.J. Will A.J. become the first male-supermodel? Dive into this hilarious turn of events to find out!
The book kept glitching on my Kindle and said I was at page 500 like what the heck it just kept turning back to the first page. My advice? Don't get this book on kindle app.
