With the candidates for queen giving their selling points the book begins with Emilia beginning her proclamation but the ill will of those in court that she reminds them of the witch of jealousy breaks her confidence as she tries to say what is on her mind. Roswaal explains his choice angering Subaru and a display of power is launched from multiple sources. Mind you it is only the beginning of the book but you should read to find out how the action goes down. :)
Now the surprise final candidate in Felt (who showed up in the 1st chapter) must decide to what fate she will succumb to as old man Rom worried for her has been making trouble and the two meet again. Wit ha strong family bond at stake the wheel of destiny turns once more as all of the candidates are ready to begin the process.
In the mean time Subaru wishing to serve Emilia the best he can but continues to disappoint as he can't seem to stop from doing stupid things that make Emilia worry about him. We get a heart to heart between Emilia and Subaru showing the frustration for both of them as stress is at an all time high for both of them for different reasons. So Subaru's only option is to continue to improve so he can be worthy of Emilia even though she was hopeful at least he would treat her like an ordinary girl.
Elsewhere a dark gathering surrounds bowing to a man in what appears to be a cave. The man in question whom I assume is the true villain of the chapter bites viciously on his thumb causing it to snap time and again as he stares at an image of Emilia on the wall. I am sure the action is going to ramp up from here. After all Subaru hasn't dies in two books yet so he is due some resetting. :)
My favorite part of the book would have to be Felix's big reveal of gender to Subaru even though it is fairly famous in the capital. Poor Subaru just can't get any breaks. :)

The drawings are very nice and detailed. Subaru is well characterized, while Emilia, even though she is the main character, has little involvement and dialogue. She seems to be an insubstantial character. The characters start to be many. A new character is introduced at the end of the chapter who does not seem to have good intentions.
