Julie Kreel has almost everything -- a plum of a job, caring friends, a supportive church family, a handsome colleague who wants to be more than a friend. But her bitter past with Paul Shannon rises often to mar her prospects for future happiness. And when her ex-husband reappears unexpectedly, their former life binds them together like a string around a packet of old love letters. Can she, however, ever forget the pain he had caused her?

Yes, this is heavy on the Chrisitan theme, but I didn't feel like that I was beaten over the head w/ it. I actually had tears coming to my eyes when Cindy ran off like that. I felt that Paul had truly changed and the story takes place over months instead of a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am situation. I think looking back Paul could see where he did build his priorities on a flimsy foundation and Julie had to find it w/in herself to forgive. She wanted to, but she was hurt very badly. Yet, as she spoke to Cindy I think she saw pieces of herself there and the wisdom behind her words seemed to hit her too.
I think it helped that I knew going into the story that it would be heavy on the Christian theme but I never felt like it was saying she had to forgive him because he was more of a Christian now. He was definitely looking for that forgiveness though and he truly wanted to be back w/ her. What he did was cold hearted but I never felt like he did it out of malice. IMHO Paul made some horrible choices and because of them that was the result. He made a mistake and he seemed to realize it and wanted to make amends for it. Maybe I'm just in a forgiving mood :D
His actual betrayal and what led up to it bothered me a LOT, but more so the actual getting caught by Julie. I did wish that the spoilers I read stated where he and the OW were found. That was a horrible of him and of course it is blamed on alcohol, but seriously you saw it coming from a MILE away. It really was just a matter of time before he ventured down that road, so not buying the drinking thing. He couldn’t even be bothered to introduce her to the OW when she first came on the scene AND he defended the OW to his wife at that party. It didn’t help that she ran, but who could blame her? It seemed that he was selfish and he was looking to fulfill his needs in all things. But he seemed to have changed when he came back on the scene in her life several years later. The other thing that bothered me was the fact that he claims to be a Christian, good thing as she is too, BUT he lied to her from the get go just to get what he wanted. So does that mean it’s another case of the ends justifying the means?
Given that, I still enjoyed the story and I liked several of the characters by the end of the book.

This was a decent read. The h and H get married while he’s finishing law school. He’s very ambitious and not as devoted to Christianity as she is. These differences are revealed in their differing value systems and as a result, they began to fight on a regular basis.

He gets an opportunity to work at a firm with a very attractive woman. The H and h fight about her going to a conference for her job instead of accompanying him to a party given by his law firm. He drinks too much and his female coworker drives him home to his and the heroine’s apartment worker where they sleep together. The heroine regrets leaving the H and returns home early and catches them asleep in her marital bed.
They part and meet up again several years later when the H is a truly committed Christian and wants her forgiveness.
As a Christian-focused romance, I knew what to expect. This is a 2.5 star read. However, because the heroine had the balls to leave and immediately divorce his cheating ass, I’d give it another star.
