She’s the one women he knows he shouldn’t touch.

Jase - Dirty cop. That’s what everyone thinks of me. Only I know it’s a lie. They took my gun, my badge, my soul. I have one last shot to earn it back. My job? Go deep undercover to bring down a ruthless drug lord. It should have been easy. Until I met his niece, Devin. I crave her just like the drug her uncle’s trying to push. Pure and simple. She brings out every protective instinct I have. All the wicked ones too. Except acting on them could blow this investigation and ruin my chance to clear my name. And it might get us both killed.

He’s the hero she never knew she needed.

Devin - When Jase walked into my bar, he turned everything upside down. He made me feel things I can’t want. I have to walk away. Because, I know he’s a liar just like all the others. He’ll tell me he loves me then disappear. Plus, I know he’s hiding something. But, his smoldering touch and perfect kisses are almost enough to drive my doubts away. Almost.

The truth will either save them both, or burn them to the ground.

By Jayne Blue

I received this for a honest review.

Awesome Book!!! I just love Jayne Blue’s books. One of the series I loved of hers is the Great Wolves MC series. We got to meet Jace through that series since he was the twin brother of Colt… who is Prez of the Great Wolves MC Lincolnshire, Ohio. I always found these two brothers very interesting since they started of being so different – like night & day
Jase mark as dirty cop in Lincolnshire they have taken everything he knows from him, run out of town for something he didn’t do. Jase was giving the opportunity to go undercover to shut down drug ring. Jase was willing to take the chance to get his Badge & Gun.. Or more like desperate enough to do anything to get his life back

Devin co-owner with her uncle ( Cy Marsh) of Bar & Grill in Northpointe, Ohio …Devin is fun loving sassy women, even though she seen so much in her short life- Mother & Sister (Mandy) bother junkies- father alcoholic.. The only family left by her side is her Cy who has reputation of being a ruthless businessman

Jayne Blue always has tendency of throwing in Lil Suspense- A lot of Romance & some very Spicy sex screens… I am looking forward to Mitch's story

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes their romances hot & spicy… Also don’t worry this book is a standalone

This was a good read that I liked a lot. Jase is Colt's "Great Wolves MC" (which I haven't read yet) twin brother and is a cop on the Lincolnshire's Police force until something happens and Jase is fired. So he is looking for a way to get back into law enforcement and is called into action by another city's Chief of Police to rid his town of drugs. So Jase goes undercover in Devin Marsh's bar The Dive Bar to discover where the drugs are and who is moving them. At first it is believed that Devin knows everything about the drugs that are moving through her place but as Jase's investigation keeps going on he discovers that Devin doesn't know anything about the drugs but there are others in her midst that do and now Jase's focus has to shift to those people but he also has to protect Devin from them. I really liked both of these character's when I first started reading this book I didn't know it was connected to another series and I almost didn't read it, but I got sucked into it and couldn't stop reading it. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am read this author before and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

OK< this is an author that every time I read, I fall in love with her work more and more! The story;in was great, mysterious and full of action and yet was genuinely sweet and a whole lot of sexy:)

Jas and Devin were spot on PERFECT. Perfect characters with perfect qualities as well as just being a perfect match for each other! I would LOVE to have a future novella of them just to catch up and see how their together progresses....like I want and need the marriage and babies too:)

I've read several other Jayne Blue books and loved them but this is my favorite! After reading COLT, I was excited to get to know his twin, Jase. Jase was everything I expected and more. Tough and intense but caring. The same description applies to Devin. The plot was intense, leaving the reader to wonder how in the world they would ever get out of the situation. The sex was, of course, hot! Jayne Blue's new releases are automatically must reads for me.

My 2 stars has nothing to do with the writing or plot of the story, but I had a hard time with this book from the get-go. For the life of me I could not bring myself to like either of the main characters. I feel like Jase wasn't fully fleshed out and Devin was woefully naïve. I also question the judgement of a cop who is trying to get back into good graces, who sleeps with a suspect before ruling her out in an official capacity? Especially when lives are at stake? I understand it's only a story, but the blasé way Jase handled things was amateur hour.

Freaking finally! I've been wondering when we were going to get Jase's story and I was so excited when Jayne sent out the email stating she was going to start a new series...yay!

If you haven't read the Great Wolves MC series, first, you need to because it is great. Not to mention that Jase is featured in a couple books and they help to explain how he got in the predicament he is currently in. He has been labeled as a dirty cop after helping out his twin brother Colt, GWMC president of the Lincolnshire charter. Jase's department was full of actual dirty cops, but when he helped take down scum that others made money off of, he got booted out of his job. No he has been given an opportunity to earn is badge back by going undercover in Northpointe in order to take down a man pushing drugs in the area. He is supposed to buddy up to the owner of a local bar called The Dive so he can get information about the drug kingpin Cy Marsh. Jase just never expected the owner to be the hot woman he ends up saving from a drunk behind the bar.

Devin is the manager of The Dive, and is hoping to own it in the near future by buying it from her Uncle Cy. She's worked very hard to get to this point in her life after everyone she's ever cared about has left her...except her Uncle Cy. He put her through college and helped her start the bar. She is immediately turned on by Jase, and that is something that she hasn't felt in years. She knows there is more to him than what he allows her to see, but she can't help her attraction to him.

As Jase gets deeper undercover by working at Devin's bar, lines start to get blurred. He has to do things he doesn't want to get in with the bad guys, but then the closer he gets to Dev, he has to figure out if she is as innocent as she seems.

Another great book from Jayne Blue! I'm not lying when I said I was excited about Jase's story. I always felt he should have his own book after reading about Colt, and Ms. Blue did not disappoint! Got to read more about what Jase was willing to do in order to put away the bad guys, but also got to see him get the girl. Devin is feisty and sarcastic, a little vulnerable at times, and just what Jase needs in a woman. Their daily interactions were great but their chemistry was hot! I loved trying to see if the other cops trying to help Jase were actually trustworthy or not, and when I found out who was the local supplier, well I didn't see that one coming! If you've read any of Jayne's other books than you will love this one just as much.

I was going to say that this is the BEST book so far in this series, but then I remembered it’s the first book in a new series. Still, those who have read the Great Wolves MC Series are familiar with the hero, Jase, who is the twin brother of Colt, president of GWMC Lincolnshire, OH chapter. We first met Jase in Colt’s book, and he also played a role in later books of that series. Jase is a cop and was caught between a rock and a hard place when helping his brother’s club cover up the “disposal” of some local thugs. He lost his badge and was sent packing.
Now he’s in Northpointe, MI, and has one chance, working undercover, to prove himself and be accepted onto the Northpointe police force. They are trying to gather evidence and set up a case against Cy Marsh, drug kingpin of the Northpointe area. They suspect he is running the drugs primarily through a bar her owns, “The Dive”. It is run by Cy’s niece, Devin.
She’s a strong, no-nonsense woman, with a bit of vulnerability thrown in.
Jase, using a fake last name, applies for a job there, and is hired as a dishwasher. He needs to identify the players in the drug-running scheme. He is totally taken with Devin. He believes she is innocent, and doesn’t know what’s happening around her. But is that really true, or is that just what Jase wants to believe?
These characters are so good together. Both are from broken backgrounds, and the chemistry and play off each other is excellent. Devin knows Jase has told her lies, and she knows she’s going to get hurt, but she lets herself fall for him anyway. And Jase knows Devin may be one of the very people he’s trying to take down. Yet there is a beautiful tenderness between them, and a protectiveness on Jase’s part, surrounded by all the crazy lust.
This was a really enjoyable and suspenseful read. You can tell all along that Uncle Cy is one mean and ruthless man, but you don’t really know just how bad until things head to a climax. A great start to this new series, and I am definitely looking forward to the stories to unfold in the rest of the “Tortured Heroes” series!

I enjoyed this book although I do feel I would have benefited from reading the Great Wolves MC series first. It can be read as a standalone but I don't think I was as invested as some other reviewers when it came to hearing Jase's story. I did enjoy it and it was well written so I'm off to read the Great Wolves MC series now.

We met Jase in the Great Wolves MC series. He is the brother of Colt: MC Biker Romance, a series that I highly recommend. This book is the first of a spin off series for this author. Jase was an intriguing character in the first series and I was looking forward to his book. If you like hot, alpha men in uniform, then this is a book you will enjoy. Jase lost his job because of his ties to the Great Wolves and is seeking desperately to get his badge back. He agrees to go under cover for a new department and ends up working at Devin's bar. Devin is a strong heroine but unfortunately is being manipulated by her crime boss uncle. Jase fights falling for Devin and ends up being torn between his duty and his feelings for Devin. This is a great love story with a good plot and likable characters. I'll definitely be reading the next book in this series.
This book is not about the MC and none of the Great Wolves appear in the book.

I have read some of her other books, so I was looking forward to read the first book of a new series.
What a book, I loved it and couldn't stop reading. This is one of these books when you think, just one chapter and before you know it is another one and an other till the book is finished. I just had to know what was going to happen next.
If both of the will end up okay at the end and how.

Poor Devin for all the trouble in her life and it hasn't ended yet, the worst has yet to come and it is coming in this book.
Jase is born to be a cop, but got fired in his last time for the wrong reasons.
Now he can make it up, but he didn't count on falling for Devin and he is falling hard.

Great read, lots of action, scary moments and steamy hot attraction between Devin and Jase. They try to fight it, but it is stronger.

Looking forward to read more in this series.

Devin's uncle is a criminal and she runs a bar with him as a silent partner but he's not very silent. Jace comes in as an undercover cop to see if he can get evidence to put the uncle away. Devin and Jace fall for each other now Jace has to figure out if he can keep Devin safe and Devin has to decide if she can trust Jace after he lied about who he is. The story was good, however I felt Devin was too naive. With her family history, it seems like she'd be a little more aware of what her uncle does.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I just felt like she'd be more aware and I thought the wrap up was a little too neat. I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll just say it seemed really convenient how things worked out so quickly at the end. I am interested in reading Mitch's story and I like Jayne Blue's other books so I intend to continue the series.

I haven't read any of the Great Wolves books, so I had not been exposed to Jase before. I think all the characters in this book were great, and I enjoyed the storyline. It is, of course, predictable, but has a HEA that you are gunning for the whole book.

Jase is the right level of alpha male but has this sweet spot for Devin. And vice versa, Devin is hardened because of all the bad things that have happened in her life, but Jase provides something that noone else has. Everyone plays their part in the story well - even the baddies.

I'd definitely recommend for anyone who likes a little bit of justice mixed in with their romance.

This was a great romance with a lot of suspense that wasn't just sexual in nature. The main characters come to life even though the second string not so much. Which kind of surprised me since one of the second string characters is the main character in the next book in the series. Up until the end of the story I had a completely different mental image of the guy than what the author intended. There were also a few cheesy moments that were out of character for the characters in question. I won't say too much about that to avoid spoilers. All in all a very good romance if you're a romance junkie. You won't be disappointed.

Good start

A good start to a series. Jase is reinventing himself working undercover after being thrown off the force. He helped his brother in the Great Wolves series and suffered for it.

This was a new author for me. It started off a little slow, I had a hard time getting into it. I'm glad I stuck it out. This book is a suspenseful mystery with lots of twists and turns. At times it was infuriating. The chemistry between the characters was off the chart.

Well written, very good! Jase and Devin are a cute couple, and I like how he struggles to decide if she's involved in what he's investigating or not. I love her attitude and strong drive toward her goal of owning the place free and clear, getting out from under her uncle's thumb. Fun read!

Having read only book six in this series, I decided to go back and start the series with the first book. I’m glad I did! The story has a little of everything...suspense, mystery, romance and a few surprises. The characters are well developed, likable and realistic. The storyline is paced well and keeps the reader’s attention. Highly recommend!

Another winner for Jayne Blue. Hot sexy undercover cop Jace takes a job as a dishwasher in a pub he is investigating a drug kingpin. Of course he falls for his boss Devin, there is not a whole lot of sexy times, as they spend more time focused on the job. Overall a satisfied read.

Drugs Are The Ruin, If Abused

We have a disgraced cop on the mend working undercover in a new town. He has a job as a dishwasher in a bar. The owner of the bar seems to be a gal. Sparks fly, with trust at stake. An enjoyable read!

I received this for a honest review. WOW!!! I just love Jayne Blue’s books. One of the series I loved of hers was the Great Wolves MC series. We got to meet Jace through that series since he was the twine brother of Colt who was Prez of the Great Wolves MC. I always found these two brothers very interesting since they were working toward the same goal just on different sides of the law. Don’t worry this book is a standalone and you will have no issue keeping up.

Jace who was handsome and very sexy was also one when you looked at him you knew he meant business. He was a cop but had his badge and gun taking away from him. Now people looked at him as a dirty cop. Being a cop meant the world to him. It was a part of him, it was imbedded in his soul and to have that taken away was like taking a piece of his heart. He is giving the chance to go deep undercover to stop a drug lord and get his job back. He wants more than anything to be a cop again.

Jace is a type of person that you cannot help but fall in love with. He truly has a good heart. He does not see things black and white but knows there some in-between. I would like to think if given a chance to go back and change things that he would stand by the decision he had made.

When Jace first met Devin Marsh I almost died laughing. Devin Marsh was this strong woman. She was everything you would want to find in a female character. She was a hard but yet fair boss. It was unfortunate she had a slim ball of a uncle. He was her only family. The only other one was her sister and she was missing. Devin has learned that through life you can only rely on one person and that is yourself. Seems like everyone that has been in her life that was supposed to love her had failed her. Which I found pretty sad. She truly has trust issues and a wall built up but you can’t really blame her.

Jace will have to obtain a job for his undercover job at the club that Devin owns. There will be feeling that arise between these two. Jace will have to have some hard decision. He will have to determine if Devin is on the up and up or if she is part of the drug trafficking that is going on in her club.

You will met some interesting characters in this book. You will see Jace scared of losing the one person he has fallen in love with over the lies he has to tell. You will see Devin suffer through more heartache then one person should have to face. Lives will be in danger, important decision will have to be made, and lives will be changed forever.

So enjoyed this book and one well worth reading.
