Charlie Gavin is a panther shifter and the Beta of the Thirteen — the group to become the next Dásreach Council. But, to become the council the Thirteen must find their mates. When he received a phone call from his best friend and Alpha, Kai Darrow, Charlie was happy his friend found his mate, but a bit jealous too. That was until he saw Natalie on the side of the road with her friends after a blown tire. His panther’s natural instincts immediately took control and his passions rose with each interaction with the emotionally distanced ex-Marine.
Natalie Hunnam, goes by Nat, decided a long time ago that living life only got you hurt. She devoted herself to the Marines and when she couldn’t handle seeing the aftermath of the conflict of being a soldier; she retired and started helping those wounded soldiers that spoke to her own wounded heart. Her life was rewarding, but lonely, until the Book Worms. Control and logic ruled her life, but paranormal romance and her Book Worms gave her a place to release her deepest hidden desires. Desires that manifested in one cocky British Dásreach panther.
Unbeknownst to the Thirteen a darkness is working against them, preventing possible mates from coming into contact with them. Working in the shadows and using human pawns, the darkness has set its sights on Natalie and her friends.
Can Charlie convince Natalie that sometimes you need to let go and live before it’s too late?
Josette Reuel has been creating stories since she was a small child. As an avid reader from her earliest memories, Josette enjoys many genres; however, her current passion is anything Romance. Oddly, it wasn't until her forties that her writing became a lot more grown-up. Josette believes in love at first sight, finding romance in the small things, and being open to exploring new things.
Josette writes M/F, M/M, menage, and reverse harem Contemporary, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, and Paranormal Romance of varying degrees of heat. She also co-authors those genres along with Dark Romance with her critique partner, S.E. Isaac.
She believes in realism along with the fantasy and writes her characters with a variety of body types and backgrounds.
Her stories often fall within the "Forever Safe" sub-genre with their love at first sight, fated-love themes.
Josette's third installment is classic! Lots of verbal sparring and action. This is Charlie and Natalie's story. Josette has done a wonderful job in honoring our military in this book. It's a treat to see such hard exteriors come through to the other side of softness while still being pillars of strength. Highly recommend. 5 out of 5 stars.
Natalie Matthews is an ex marine, a psychologist and a brave woman but also emotionally damaged. When she is being kidnapped and dragged across the country by a huge , sexy man who must be crazy ( he believes he can turn into a big cat ) it is very difficult for her to stay brave. Her friends are in trouble and are also with crazy men, so she must get back to them. Charlie Gavin is beta of the thirteen who are set to become the Dasreach council and a panther shifter. He knows Natalie is his mate but she will not accept anything he says. With enemies on their tails and an extremely stubborn, and beautiful woman to handle the trip home holds lots of excitement. This is the third in the series and you need to have read at least book #1, to understand what is happening. Saying that you could enjoy this book on it's own. There are lots of emotional moments, plenty of danger, excitement and sexual tension. There are times you might want to slap our hero for his pig headedness. Other times, bang the heads of the pair of them together. I loved every page and can't wait for the next book in the series.
This is my third full-length novel and my seventh published work. With each new adventure I learn more and more about the worlds that I create.
Releasing the Panther has the benefit of utilizing what I learned in the past and provides a deliciously unique view of two of the most difficult characters I've ever had to put on the page. These two had a mind of their own and knew how they would find their HEA before I did.
Releasing the Panther rounds out the first three book trilogy of the Dásreach Councel Novels series. We first met Charlie and Natalie in book 1, where Charlie is overwhelmed by his need for the most standoffish female you'll ever meet. Nat is a warrior -- once in the Marines, she now works as a psychologist helping those dealing with life after war -- and doesn't give an inch as Charlie works to find the pathway to her heart.
I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I've enjoyed writing it.
This is a series that I will always read due to the amazing world the author has dreamt up and the exciting characters we have heard things about but have yet to meet. That being said, just like with the other two books, the amount of detail and constant rehashing of the inner workings of the two main characters minds regularly had me skimming sections. And while I think detail is important to create and bring a world to life, in my opinion, the author takes this to the extreme. I will buy the next book, I will be hooked and excited as I was with this one, but hopefully, unlike with this one, I will not find myself wishing for the end, skipping huge sections to find the next section of dialogue. It may be just me, some my love all the detail, but I just found it tiring after a while.
This book started out great, a lot of action that held my attention. I liked the characters and was looking forward to getting into the story more.
Somewhere by the middle, it kind of fell off for me. The characters seemed to constantly question themselves, they changed quite drastically. I had a bit of a hard time with it.
But, the end of the book was really good! I enjoyed the action and I loved seeing the characters from the first couple books. There is also a great humorous scene that had me laughing and laughing. And, it ended in such a way that I can't WAIT to see what the author comes up for the next book.
Read this one about a year after the 2nd book. Fell right back in love with the Dasreach. Can't wait for the next installments. Please hurry Josette, I'm waiting impatiently.
