Louie Stowell started her career writing carefully researched books about space, ancient Egypt, politics, and science, but eventually she lapsed into just making stuff up. Louie Stowell currently works as the publisher of Ladybird Books and lives in London with her wife, Karen; her dog, Buffy; and a creepy puppet that is probably cursed.

Brer Rabbit is being chased by Brer Fox and finds a really good hiding place in a bucket in a well. The problem is that the bucket descends into the well and Brer Rabbit is stuck down there. Brer Rabbit convinces the fox that there are lovely fish to eat down there, and the fox with a love for fish, helps the rabbit out of the well. The fox climbs in the bucket and he too gets stuck in the well after realising that there were no fish there, and that Brer Rabbit had once again outwitted him. This is a first reader for children learning to read and the pictures and short sentences make the book an enjoyable one. The puzzles at the end of the book assist in not only understanding emotions, but encourage comprehension of the story.

I liked this story because the rabbit was pushed down the well but he got out and put the fox in the well.
