Fictionreviwer.com named 'Fledgling Jason Steed' Young adult book of the year 2009. The book was also voted as finalist in the 2009 'Indie book Awards'. In 2013 in the Beverly Hills Book Awards it came first in Juvenile fiction.
The Jason Steed series grew on me when I read the first edition of book Fledgling back in 2008 when I was in school. I enjoy the authors casual style of writing and the emotion he brings to the characters.
Jason Steed Face-Off continues the journey and growing pains of Jason Steed, a teen spy with martial arts skill. The witty comments had me laughing and the loss of a character who has been in the novels since book one was emotional. The story was what I had come to expect Jason was in various countries and in danger and yet again he saved the day in a great climatic chapter. An old enemy of Jason's reappears in Face-Off, bringing the action and suspense. I am not sure why the series is not better known, the author and publishers need to work on marketing. If you are looking for a fast emotional rollercoaster ride fun young adult novels start off with book 1, Fledgling and follow Jason's life.
This is an awesome series. Jason is growing up in this book. I really enjoyed it. I want to know what is going to happen to jason next. I do suggest that you read the series from the first one. It is nice to see how the books link together.
This series keeps getting better, Jason is now 13 but his boyish charm, big heart and spirit keeps him real. I loved this book, Jason seems to be taking it in his stride until hose around him become harmed. An amazing twist at the end. Good fun, exciting and a touch of the tears we always get with Jason Steed
This is becoming worse than Game of thrones, never get soft for a character because you can’t say who’s next...
Honestly, why this poor boy has to lose everybody he grows attached to??
And I hate his father from book one! Useless both physically and emotionally, he’s not even a good soldier. He was never there for his son, and once he finally could be present, the one that gets all his attention is the new instafuck, instawife and instapregnant (oh no we don’t plan to have a baby for now...) So the new baby will have it all... while baby Jason was all alone and wounded from the start...He’s the only character the author should have killed!
Entertaining and cool to see Jason gradually growing up throughout the series.
Some of the dialogue is a bit silly but considering my age and the targeted age range of the audience, not really a problem. There also is a sense of maturity in many instances for young teens, I think it's a pretty accurate presentation of them.
