Skylier has survived the wastelands outside Purenet twice. Buts she’s still not safe. Corruption is unfolding in the place which she once called home, and it seems everyone is involved.
Captured and forced to return to Purenet, she must face her fate as Xander’s Host. Will she be able to lead her new life as a Host and still keep her family safe, or does she already have the cure her mother needs?
First off, I have to say this cover is beautiful!! I love the art work and how it coincides with the book. Ok, so in the first book, Purenet, I honestly was mad at Skylier for rolling over and letting Xander win. It seemed as if this spunky girl had lost all of her hope and her fire. Host picks up right at the end of Purenet and overlaps a little with Aurum, so for some of the book you get Skylier's POV in the situations where you already knew Dax's. It is a great, subtle way to bring the books together. This book revives Skylier. She is no one's puppet. She doesn't always think things through, but she has the fire and passion back that she was lacking during the end of the first book. I love how family is the most important thing with her, and how she helps others, even after they have treated her questionably. She really has a sound moral compass, and some exciting new characteristics that she is beginning to uncover about herself. The pacing in this book is fast. I read the whole book in one sitting! I couldn't put it down!! Now I can't wait for the next one!! Read it! You'll love it!
I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review! Thank you H.J. Lawson.
Have you ever been watching a movie when it suddenly stops? That's what I felt with this book.
I really enjoyed the first book of this series, and I was more than happy to see Skylier's adventures once again. However, the ending caught me off my guard and I wasn't prepared for it.
As always, this story has a lot of surprises and it's so fast that you can't blink. I loved the new characters and how they interact with the others. Also, I'm glad that there are more and more mysteries to solve, so I hope to continue reading this series.
I enjoyed the story because even with all that action going on, you still can relate to the characters and follow their struggles.
If you're new, I recommend you to read first and then continue with the other books. Also, you can check because that series is somehow linked to this one even when they can be read separately.
-I received a book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion, which I did-
As always the covers of the book are really captivating and so is the story. Mrs Lawson does it again. The book was well thought out and even the ending, was something I did not expect. It would seem that finally Skylier has some moxie to save her family from her evil (and disgusting) brother Xander. More girl power is much appreciated. We're not always damsels in distress. Cant frigging wait for her next book!!!

Total Score: 5/5
Summary: Things at Purenet are not always what they seem and you never really know who your allies are. Skylier and Rian are determined to find a way to rescue members of their family who are being held captive and threatened if they don't do what they are told. Even with that threat, Skylier can't accept her fate to be her half brother Xander's host. They see their chance when her father, the chancellor, and her brother are attacked putting Purenet into chaos. Help comes from an unexpected source, but the danger is not over. Xander is determined that they pay for their actions and will sacrifice anyone to get what he wants.
This action packed story revealed that not everyone at Purenet is willing to accept the way things are in their society. There are many working in secret to effect change leaving Skylier and Rian in the middle of what looks to be the fight of their lives. I can't wait to find out what will happen next in The Sanction series.

The entertainment of the Purenet residents was suddenly interrupted by a Bazi girl with a beautiful gold tattoo, as she stabs the Chancellor multiple times.
Then, rather than rescuing Skylier and her brother Rian, Dax changes the escape plan at the last moment and rescues the Bazi woman. Although she had been cruelly treated by the Chancellor and his wife, to leave her behind would be a certain death sentence.
Now Skylier and Rian must find a way to save themselves. They must escape from the Purenet Sanction (domed city), and do it quickly! Faced with numerous challenges, can they also rescue their mother and little sister? Where do they start? Will they be able to find help? Is there anybody they can trust?
Skylier is in for an education; not only about how the Purenet Sanction functions and its people, but more importantly about herself and what she is capable of.
Back to the end of book one, "Sanction, by HJ Lawson,".....
But this time it is from Skylier's perspective. As expected, she isn't going to sit still and wait for the shinny knights to rescue her. She does seem to have a tendency to go of half cocked with limited planning, but she is the cat landing in the middle of those who will help her. A couple very interesting characters are making their debut, and a new ability surfaces within Skylier.
Same as 1 and 2, cliffhanger ending, and too short. Is this a conspiracy by publishers to sell more books. I have read 3 books within 36 hours and worked 2 jobs. I like this story, but I don't understand why it couldn't have been told in 1 or 2 books. Well off to start on number 4, "Captured Memories, by HJ Lawson."
Skyler has some major decisions to make throughout this book. Her powers help her in some ways but I also hinder her escape when she forgets to block xander reading her thoughts. I enjoyed finding out who she can and can't trust in her bid to escape and save her family. Really great 'page turner' of a book which will draw you in. The description of environment gives you the feeling you are there with Skyler. A recommended read.
Very good read. This is book 3. The books are short, so be prepared for abrupt endings. The characters are great and well defined. The world building is very nicely done. I would think at some point they would all be combined into one book. It would certainly be a book you wouldn't want to put down.
