This introductory book is really good for beginners to study basic concept of Raw Material Management and the comprehensive view of Supply Chain Management. The first part of the book was a bit boring, because it was all logic, but reading further caught my attention.

Later I was given a tour in one of the production plants of DAF Trucks. All the theory from this book fell into place here. Although the theory in this book seems so logical, it is unimaginable how it actually works in practice.

Since this subject has my full attention I wished it would have gone more into detail, but as the title says; it is an introduction. It clearly explains the basics and covers several materials management and it was very well explained for those who read about Supply Chain Management for the first time. Some formulas are given and you don't need to be an advanced mathematician to understand these, because of the simple explanations and the examples used.

This introductory book covers several materials management in a very general & comprehensive level. Without going too much in details, it clearly explains the basic concepts. Note that additional books may be required for more detailed understanding. For someone that was a noob on the topic, it was very well explained.

This is directly in line with the current arc of my career. Materials Management encompasses supply chain, logistics, planning, and shop floor control, and, in my case, a very healthy dose of Continuous Improvement / Lean. This text was used for the first course of a certification that I am earning, and it was indispensable for me to learn what my new position entailed at the time.
