The Blogger and the Hunk is a good opposites attract story by Jane Matisse. This is a standalone contemporary romance that is told from the duel point of view of the two main characters. It has a steady pace and a smooth flow which made the story quite easy to read. When I saw the title of the book and read the blurb, I was really excited to begin the story and find out what would happen. I did like the story, but not as much as I had initially thought that I would. Although the story is well written, with an interesting storyline and good characters- there was just something about it that didn’t gel with me, or allow me to fully immerse myself into the storyline or invest in the characters as much as I would normally love to do. I think a lot of it comes down to my initial feelings towards Jack and his attitude towards Penny at the beginning of the story when he was ‘sizing her up’. I know that attitude changed, but that feeling stayed with me the whole way through and irked me a lot.
The story is cute, with a little sprinkling of drama to keep things interesting. I did love the fact that there is a ‘Blog Post’ at the beginning of every chapter- it did help to set the tone and mood for each chapter, and the overall book.
I have read “Belleza and the Brute”, Ms. Matisse’s other book- and absolutely loved it- unfortunately this one didn’t have the same impact on me. But, I really am looking forward to seeing what she does next.

The Blogger And The Hunk should have been right up this book whore’s alley. These are the types of books I usually really enjoy, and I did enjoy it but I just didn’t love it. Penelope and Jack have a one night stand but neither knew that Penelope was Jack’s best friends sister so when they meet up again it isn’t exactly a happy reunion. There were some laugh out loud moments for sure in this book but there was a lot of back and forth hating/loving of these characters as well as comments made by Jack throughout the book about Penelope and her looks that really rubbed this blogging book whore the wrong way. I won’t even get into my feelings about her sister and how she treats her.
The Blogger And The Hunk had the potential of being a sweet, funny and sexy weekend read but it unfortunately fell flat, I didn’t feel that the connection between any of these characters was real, it felt forced. The angst that could have really propelled this book to the next level was mild and just didn’t add to the plot. I don’t know if this is a situation where it just didn’t work for me but will work for others or if it was the book itself but I sadly felt unfulfilled with The Blogger And The Hunk, so I hope others will like it better than I did.

So basically in one word, The Blogger and the Hunk is: okay.
The storyline is quite sweet, but nothing extraordinary. It's the hot guy falling for the wallflower, and while we at it let's throw in most cliches that are in that storyline. I did enjoy reading it, even if it was super predictable and rather full-up with cliches.
The writing is okay. I think, it's one of those cases, where I feel rather neutral about it, not overly in love with it, but also not terrible. Basically I don't have much of an opinion. At times it was a bit flat, sometimes it was however rather good. The dialogues were the same, some were funny and cute, while others felt constructed or really cliched.
The character building was simply cliche. While I found the plot quite entertaining, I found all characters superficial. In the way they were built, but also as the characters. Everybody has such preconceived opinions of everyone. Most male characters are man-sluts. The women are all gorgeous with one exception. Well mostly, there is such an emphasis on looks. It's odd. And the whole not my type thing... I mean well, I ended up with a guy that would not be my type, theoretically. But he totally made me swoon for him. Would you have asked me what my type was before, I would have told you, snowboarder, blond and green eyed. I married a guy who had barely seen snow in his life, has brown eyes and black hair. So I should be able to relate to some of the issues and I couldn't. At all. The point is: it didn't matter. Ever. I obviously was attracted to him and beyond that we just click. It was never a question if his looks fit my idea of perfect. EVER. And in this novel, more than half the book is about that... Well, either Matisse thinks all men are like that, or she believes looks do terribly matter. And if you the normalo girl, you'll never score the hottie. Either way, I disagree. Clearly.
Oh and I got 3 sisters. And yet I could not related to the relationship of Celeste and Penelope. At all. They both so .. jealous? or was it resentful? Not sure exactly. They are competitive for sure, something I can't relate to, especially with my siblings. But more than, that they are so opinionated about each other, and not in a good way. I really found it odd. Kept thinking, thankfully my sisters aren't like that....

The Blogger & The Hunk is an easy,light,funny,sexy and romantic read.
The physical attraction between Penelope,the introvert book lover, and Jake,the charming man,is over the top from the first encounter,even if there isn't any logic because they are so different from each other.
They try to stay away from each other but the Fate has other plans for them.
Other than the two main characters I really liked the supporting cast too,they made the story even more funny and hilarious.
I feel like I have a lot in common with Penelope and I'm waiting someone like Jake who finally sees me.
This was Jane Matisse debut novel and I liked it so much I hope to read more stories written by this author soon.

The Blogger and the Hunk by Jane Matisse a five-star read you will want to snuggle with. What a great debut novel, I really hope that this author keeps up the writing as I need more of her style in my life. This story may be similar to some others out there, but the author has taken a new spin and breathes life into the story, she makes it her own with blog posts at the start of each chapter and they all have great little quirks to them that make the story that much funnier. Penelope was a great character and I adored her behaviours she was a little crazy and quirky she was so prim and proper, and you couldn’t imagine her misbehaving then she goes wild and ends up stealing clothes, all of the little details made for such a great story that I just couldn’t put it down. Thank you Jae Matisse you have a great talent for writing and now you need to get back to the keys.

This was a book that called to me because of the synopsis and of course the fact that the heroine was a blogger. While I enjoyed the story, for me, this one lacked character connection and without becoming fully invested the story lost its mojo for me. This had the potential to be a great lazy day read and while it ticked some boxes, it didn't tick them all.

I have to admit I had high hopes for this book and I wonder if that's why I gave it a lower rating as it didn't grab me as much as I had originally thought it would. Though Penelope the main character was considered a hermit and not one to choose to club as she would prefer a night in with a good book and a glass of wine. I had assumed she would have come across more of a book lover as this one barely touched on her blogging and when she did blog it was more like diary entries rather than blogging of sorts. On a whim, Penelope heads out with her two friends, and it seems like Penelope is the DUFF of the group. Like the other two hook-up with guys at the bar, Penelope drinks and people watch. During her time at the bar, she meets Jack aka The Hunk. He is out with his friends and strikes up a conversation with Penelope, she isn't his type at all, but there is something about her he can't shake. One thing leads to another and wham bam Penelope ends up having a one-night stand with Jack, and that's the last time she sees Jack or so she thinks. Penelope's sister is getting married and wants her college friend Jackie to be her Maid of Honor. The thing is that Jackie turns out to be a guy named Jack and when Penelope turns up at a fitting, lo and behold it's her one night stand. As the pair keep getting chucked together with the upcoming wedding, we can't help but see sparks fly between the two. Is Jackie aka Jack the one guy who can bring Penelope out of her shell and will she be the one to bring Jack's bachelor days to an end? Find out in Jane Matisse's book "The Blogger and the Hunk."

For a lover of books with a "bigger than normal", "plus-size" and "curvy" heroine this book was just okay for me. Don't get me wrong this book was interesting but when you reach 90% of the book and the heroine is still acting like "whoa is me I can't believe a unbelievable good looking man might actually like me or God forbit he loves me" it gets annoying pretty fast. There was no dimensions or character development on Penelope which was sad because the book was hilarious at times. But hey, at least I did not DNF it.

5 stars! Oh my I absolutely loved this book!!! I could not put it down!! I finished it in one sitting that's how wrapped up in this book I was!!! I laughed I cried and then I laughed some more. You really feel like you know these characters they are so well developed! Well of course Penelope is an blogger and that's not to far of a stretch in most of our world's anyway but even tho Jack may look like a model he is not. But I'm not one to give away a book read the blurb it will definitely interest you but I will tell you that you will definitely want to read this book. There is only one thing wrong with it.......it's not long enough. ..lol I definitely wouldn't mind another book letting us know what's happening or even from some of the secondary characters that was funny. But I definitely recommend this book!!!!

If you looking for a easy read that is is fresh and a fun romantic comedy then this book is for you! I literally read it in a day. Penelope was kind of an awkward character but it was fun watching her come out of her shell. Between her and Jack trying to get under one another's skin and plan a wedding it was laigh out loud funny at times. I thought it was a sweet story how they hooked up and later found out their connection. I am definatly recommending this book to my fellow bookies that are looking for a quick and funny romance read!!

The Blogger and the Hunk is a standalone novel from author Jane Matisse. This is my second read from this author and I'm so glad that I got the chance to read this. This author has already shown how great her writing is, her incredible characters and brilliant plot lines are and this is only my second read from her. I can't wait to see what else this author brings I'm excited to find out.
This book was compelling, intriguing and I really enjoyed this read I couldn’t put it down.
This book was romantic, steamy, sweet, entertaining and funny, and it brought two brilliant opposite characters together and created an epic couple.
The chemistry that these two characters had was undeniable - I’m surprised that they only caved twice at being together. But even when they weren’t they had a brilliant connection, and made a great team working alongside each other even after the shocking circumstances that they met again.
I loved that Penelope(Penny) wasn’t your normal all confident women and that she had flaws that many women have. But I can’t believe how little faith she had in Jack sometimes. But I think at the end of the day - these two were made for each other as they both bring out the best things in each other, compliment each other and ultimately push each other to be better. I was shocked at how quickly Jack changed his ways but it just shows how much of an impact a good women can make someone want to change. I loved Jack throughout this read even when he was making silly mistakes.
These two except each other for how they are and love each other just as much, my only disappointment was that we didn’t get enough of them after what happened at the end of the book. I’d love to know where they are now and how far they have come.
We cannot forget to mention the secondary characters that come into this read. They just help make this read even better, they bring our main characters together and compliment them as a whole. I would love to see if anything blossoms between Nick & Amanda after the events at the end of this book.
But overall I’m glad that they both got their HEA.
I hope this isn’t the last we see of Jack & Penny - but if it is I’m glad I got to experience and enjoy their story. It’s one not to be missed!

The Blogger and the Hunk by Jane Matisse 5 stars
This is my first book and the debut novel by Jane Matisse. I really enjoyed this Rom-com book. I will definitely be reading more by this author. It was a quick, light hearted book. It does deal with body image and loving yourself before another can love you. The characters were easy to fall in love with and mostly true to life. The main characters seemed to take forever to acknowledge the way they felt for one another. Penelope was very lovable, but constantly put herself down, even when her family and best friends tried to convince her otherwise. It took a certain hunk, Jack, to help her realize her true worth.
Penelope is a wallflower. She never liked to be the center of attention. On top of being a blogger, she has her own editing company and works her own hours. She really enjoys reading and her books are her life. As a twenty-six year old virgin, she decided it was time to loose her v-card and have a one night stand. Normally when her friends begged her to go out on the weekends, she politely declined. This time she said yes with this mission in mind. She never thought anyone would ever want her and this would be her only chance.
Jack was a hunk and only slept with models. Not the relationship type, he was happy to love them for one night and leave them. For some reason, the curvy Penelope intrigued him. After their one night stand, he couldn't get her out of his head and even his friends were trying to figure out what has gotten into him. He couldn't explain it.
Penelope has always felt like she needed to protect her younger sister and always sacrificed things in her life to see Celeste happy. Penelope wears her heart on her sleeve. When Celeste announces she was getting married, she was happy for her yet devastated at the same time. When she named someone else to be maid of honor, it devastated her. She not only had to help plan her sister's wedding, but had to work with her best friend, Jackie who she has never met.

This was a difficult book for me to review. I absolutely adored Jane Matisse’s Belleza and the Brute, so I jumped right into this novel from her once I finished that one in hopes that I would love that one just as much. I am sad to say that I did not. It was NOT a bad book. Not by any means, but it was not my cup of tea, so to speak. I would have liked to see more of a developed plot and storyline that stretched beyond the atypical rom-com. This one ticks the necessary boxes but isn’t just that home run I was hoping for. With that said, I do believe this was Jane Matisse’s first book that was widely published and I can tell that she grew as a writer from this one to the one I mentioned above. I am positive that there are going to be more amazing books from Matisse in the near future that I won’t be able to put down. This just wasn’t that one. At a little over 200 pages, it could have been shorter even and still told the story well. I struggled to read it in one sitting and found myself stretching it over the course of a few days with a book or two in-between.

The story The Blogger and the Hunk by Jane Matisse is a romantic comedy. It is a book that I loved reading. It had me hooked from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. It is a story that at times had me rolling my eyes and laughing at what the main characters both said and did. Penelope Luciano and Jack Goodman are two people who could be more different. Penelope is a woman that would rather stay at home reading than going out with friends. She is not one with a lot of self-confidence. Jack is a player. The women he normally goes after are confident and experienced. These two meet and as the night progresses they find themselves spending a night of passion together. As it was a one night stand what will happen and how will they react when they find themselves being asked to work together? Jack can’t understand why he couldn’t stop thinking of Penelope after that night. Nor can he understand the feelings that he has for her. Penelope is a woman who has put a shell around herself to guard her against the pain of rejection. All she can do is wonder if Jack feels that same way about her as she does about him. Will these two find a way to tell each other what their true feelings are or is it easier to walk away? The pull between these two is strong. There is flirting and bantering. There are heartwarming parts to the story and then other times when you just wish that these two would communicate with each other. Read to find out how it all works out. I also enjoyed the other characters that you are introduced to and who interact with Penelope and Jack. This is a book that is well-written and a joy to read. I highly recommend it.

The story The Blogger and the Hunk by Jane Matisse is a romantic comedy. It is a book that I loved reading. It had me hooked from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. It is a story that at times had me rolling my eyes and laughing at what the main characters both said and did. Penelope Luciano and Jack Goodman are two people who could be more different. Penelope is a woman that would rather stay at home reading than going out with friends. She is not one with a lot of self-confidence. Jack is a player. The women he normally goes after are confident and experienced. These two meet and as the night progresses they find themselves spending a night of passion together. As it was a one night stand what will happen and how will they react when they find themselves being asked to work together? Jack can’t understand why he couldn’t stop thinking of Penelope after that night. Nor can he understand the feelings that he has for her. Penelope is a woman who has put a shell around herself to guard her against the pain of rejection. All she can do is wonder if Jack feels that same way about her as she does about him. Will these two find a way to tell each other what their true feelings are or is it easier to walk away? The pull between these two is strong. There is flirting and bantering. There are heartwarming parts to the story and then other times when you just wish that these two would communicate with each other. Read to find out how it all works out. I also enjoyed the other characters that you are introduced to and who interact with Penelope and Jack. This is a book that is well-written and a joy to read. I highly recommend it.

The Blogger and the Hunk is part comedy, part drama and all love story. It can be read as a standalone story.
I usually prefer a darker romance kind of book, but I decided to take a jaunt down comedy lane. What I came to realize early on in the book is that I could be the main character. Penelope (Penny) is an introvert who loves books and staying at home. You almost have to move heaven and earth to get her to go out. I can so relate! Also, she’s not your typical bombshell feminine lead character, and I can REALLY relate to that! Prefers comfy clothes over the latest fashion trend. Check. Doesn’t fuss too much with hair and makeup. Check. Works for herself. Check. Issues with self-esteem. Check. Very relatable.
One-night Penelope’s friends talk her into going out with them and she runs into an unexpected new adventure. After talking with a guy that she can’t believe is even speaking to her, Penny decides to throw away her virgin card for a one-night stand. Maybe it will keep her friends and her sister from hounding her so much. Besides, she figures she’ll never see him again. The Blogger and The Hunk is an ‘opposites attract’ romantic comedy by Jane Matisse which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I could totally connect with Penelope, the heroine of this book. Penelope is introverted, would much rather stay at home with a good book than go out. She’s only 5ft 1in and carrying a few extra pounds. Honestly, this could be my life story. Until Penelope finally allows her friends to drag her on a night out and she has, what she thought, was a 1 night stand with the very HOT Jack who she’d never meet again.
Only Jack turns out to be best friends with Penelope’s sister and is going to be her maid of honour at her upcoming wedding, meaning Jack and Penelope have to spend lots of time together.
I loved this story being told from dual POV. We could see Penelope fall for Jack but assume that he’d never be attracted to her as she’s ‘the fat girl’ and also we could see Jack’s struggle to realise that although Penelope was nothing like the girls he normally went for, he was actually falling for her. I loved that our heroine was not the usual tall, slim, blonde beauty that appears in most romance novels.
This was my first time reading a novel by this author and I’d definitely read more.

The Blogger and the Hunk by Jane Matisse is a great debut novel that is both light hearted and fun but still has you engaging with the characters.
Penelope lives a quiet life. Overlooked and happily so she is content with her books. But when she decides to spend an evening out with her friends her whole life is turned upside down – and she isn’t sure if it is for the better.
Meeting Jack was not part of her plans. Sleeping with him even less so. Therefore sneaking out of his place in the morning is the best thing she can do. She won’t ever see him again so she can just put the whole night behind her.
However when they meet unexpectedly her plan to put it all behind her suddenly isn’t so simple. Will they be able to go after what they both want? Or will they find too many obstacles in their way?
This book was highly entertaining. I found myself laughing at the story more than once. It was a quick and easy read but I still found myself captured by the characters and the story. As a debut novel this was amazing. Well written and it had everything you could possibly want. This is a must read book.

I adored this book. This debut novel is sweet, but at the same time had some serious fire. Penelope and Jack are two of my most favorite characters of all time. Their chemistry has some serious sparks to it.
Penelope is your typical shy, quiet technology loving soul. She will happily live her life quietly behind the screen and keyboard of her laptop and never think about rocking the boat.
Jack on the other hand, is what the author most aptly called, a skirt chaser. A love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy. They collide in one very serious night of hot passion and then when Penelope sneaks out from underneath him, he is at a loss. Isn’t he supposed to do that?
Penelope does have some body image issues, and while I had hoped that she would gain a stronger image of herself through the book, Jack’s impression of her and how he eventually grows to see her, adds to the value of loving yourself for who you are and what you are given.
This book is very sweet, a bit predictable, but very enjoyable. I read it in one sitting and would recommend it to someone who would like a good Sunday read.

The Blogger and the Hunk by Jane Matisse is a must-read romance! It’s my second book by this author and I loved it from start to finish. It’s sweet, funny, relatable, steamy and dramatic, everything I look forward to in a romance read. I really connected and related to Penny, her character felt so real and I felt so invested in her story and I loved how her story all played out!
Jane has an incredible writing style, it’s full of detail and the storyline flowed so well that it easily kept me intrigued and captivated the whole way through. It was a shorter read as I couldn’t bring myself to put it down. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future and I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next romance read!

The Blogger and The Hunk, written by Jane Matisse, is a fun, romantic, exciting read that I was able to read in one sitting! The Blogger, Penelope, the wall flower who would rather read a book meets the hunk, Jack, a womanizer who loves the chase when she decided to go out with her friends for a night of fun. Quickly things change when one kiss turns into a night of passion. The next morning, Penelope leaves knowing that she will never see Jack again. They keep being thrown together, and Jack is truly able to see all the beauty that she carries inside and out. Sometimes self-doubt gets in the way, these two need to find the drive to chase what they both want.
This was the author’s first book, and I have to say I loved it! She gave is an easy read with characters that you can fall in love with. I can’t wait to read more from this author, I give this book 4 stars!

The Blogger and the Hunk By Jane Matisse. This is my second book by this author and I’m definitely excited to see what else comes from here. This was such a fun read. I’m a sucker for a nerdy girl gets the handsome guy kind of books. Penelope’s character remains me so much of myself it was hard to remember I was reading a story, I just loved her. Jack while at times I wanted to smack was just as great. The characters meshed so well you just sink into their story and forget what time it is. This story was both lightheartedly funny and a bit steamy. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or dragging on. If you’re looking for a nice light rom-com for a quick read I highly recommend reading this book. I’m giving this book a five star review and am excited to see where the author takes readers next.

Fantastic story!! Penny loves her job, her parents, her sister, her 2 best friends, and her books. Happy in her own company, the last thing she's anticipating is her unwanted feelings for Jack. In a perfect world, her one night stand would have been just that, however fate doesn't always cooperate with what we want or plan. I can say it's not often I don't automatically like the male counterpart of a romance novel, but Jack took some time warming up to. Penny comes off as a quiet, inexperienced introvert. Jack a loud, opinionated player. They make an unlikely couple, and right off, I felt like Penny was better suited to someone with similar interests as herself. By the end, my opinion changed. I found this to be a quick read, with several twists keeping you hooked and anticipating what's to come next. 5 stars and looking forward to reading more by this author!

This formulaic romantic comedy was a quick cute read. It's the story about "the ugly duckling sister" and her experience with a hot guy while planning her beautiful sister's wedding.
Romance (check) Comedy (check) prat falls (check) self-involved bride who doesn't notice even the most obvious things (check) strong, independent woman whose body image ruins her life (check dammit). This is where it went wrong for me. I just couldn't connect with her and her conflicting self. I understand her, I "know" her, but the fact that she's 26 and in the predicament she's in was just so disappointing. I wanted to shake her (and her friends).
The book was well plotted and the characters well developed and I will read other books by this author.

This was such a cute book. I enjoyed the characters and the plot and I loved the relationship between Penelope and Jack. What was meant to be one thing turned out to be much more.

Jane Matisse's The Blogger and the Hunk was a solidly written romantic comedy. The author starts this story building up the characters and then delves into the meat of the story. The writing was light, but fun and was easy to read being a debut novel from this author. It had a lot of humorous dynamics loaded in throughout the story. I really liked Penelope's character and the development/growth she had throughout the book, it was steady and well done. Jack was outright fun, yet at times I just shook my head at his character. Overall, I think Jane Matisse did a tremendous job with this book and foresee some outstanding things to come in the future.

These two meet at a local club and head back to his place.what they thought would be a one night stand is out once they find their both going to be in the same wedding. I could go on and on but I won't. I do however recommend this book. I can't wait to read more from this author.
