Ravenborn #2

Echoes of Memory

Rate this book
After witnessing a terrible event that left Kaira changed in unimaginable ways, Chris knows he has to find a way to defy his destiny in this second novel in the suspenseful Ravenborn trilogy.

In the aftermath of the deaths plaguing Islington’s campus, a terrible pall has fallen over the students. Kaira is passed-out sick, and Chris—the only witness to the night Kaira invoked something otherworldly—is questioning his sanity. Everyone is willing to believe the deaths were normal, and without Kaira backing him up, his claims that there was something supernatural at work are getting harder and harder to believe. Even to himself.

Especially because now, the voices he’s locked away are getting louder. Stronger. Violent.

When the god plaguing his mind starts promising Chris a future of bloodshed, Chris knows he isn’t safe. He can’t be trusted. Especially not around Kaira, whom this god swears Chris will kill.

Chris only wants to keep his friends safe. Even at the cost of his own life.

But when the gods of the Underworld are involved, not even death is an escape. It’s just the start of another, darker, journey.

Ummmm... if this is actually a duology like I originally thought it was, I’m miffed. That was a terrible ending! If it’s a trilogy, I’m okay with it. Also, I feel really dumb that a lot of the stories were from other mythologies. This book was really good, but wayyyyyy darker than shades of darkness ironically.

*4.5. This book was WAY better than the first in all honesty. The first took awhile to get any information, but everything was explained efficiently. My only complaints were that Ethan was annoying (he was my favorite character in the first book) and I didn’t feel like he was justified in acting like a douche, and that the world building was a little iffy. For some reason I just couldn’t picture Yggdrasil whenever it was mentioned. Other than that, solid book. A+.

Loved this series as well as all the Circe de Immortals books. Ravenborn Shades of Darkness and Echoes of Memory take place at a boarding school and is just as magical as the Circ des Immortals story word and his cast as mesmerizing. Kaira Winters attends a boarding school deep in the woods of Michigan and then the bodies start falling. She is the only one who can stop the violence, but must come to to terms with who she is - a goddess buried deep within her. Five stars for plot, character, and descriptions and dialogue that sizzles.

I was extremely disappointed in this book. I was so excited to see there was another book out and I bought it as soon as I could. The book was printed the wrong way. I missed a whole chapter and the ending just sucks balls.

I don’t know if it was my book that missed 5 chapter, but this makes me extremely upset. I hope y’all had a better time with this book, because I didn’t.

Cheers.
