Catalyst immediately puts you in the middle of the action! This story was thrilling from page one and didn't stop until the very end and even though almost every page is full of action the pacing was perfect for this type of novel! The character development of Stormy and the other characters is very well executed. You can really sense their fears about the situation they are in and their hope to take back their lives by taking out Cold War.
What this story really lacked was world building. It is hard to connect to Stormy and Matt as a couple because we only see them together before the Supervirus attack for a page or two and Matt is sick the whole time. I had trouble fearing Cold War as a real threat because the characters never really mention what they did before the attack and it seems like they came from nowhere. Catalyst could have used a good 20 pages of set up before the hospital scene to set the stage for the readers or what is to come.
In short, This story is great for hard core apocalypse and apocalypse readers! The writing style, pacing, and character development are great just be prepared to use your imagination when it comes to the world building.

What a rollercoaster! This book was great and definitely had me on the edge of my seat. The characters were great and flawed and so realistic, which I loved! I think that Wars does a great job of pacing the story and building these intense scenes followed by moments where I could catch my breath, all the while hoping that Stormy and Matt make it. I'm not a huge zombie enthusiast, but this romantic dystopian grabbed me. I think it had a lot to with the author's unique voice in a militaristic world. You don't get that too much in a book, that military style storytelling. I really enjoyed it. If you are a fan of the Walking Dead, you should give this book a try. But be prepared to grab a box of tissues. Heart tugged!!

I won this book and it was inscribed " Read feverishly", well that's strange - but oh so true! I read the first half the book in a continuous 8 hours then the world intruded- food, sleep, children. Feverish IS the only pace to read with this book. Terrorists simply want to upset the apple cart, because they can. Not for their beliefs, not for power, not for money but just because they can. A handful of people survive field test #2 barely, all strangers who must now work together to survive and outwit the terrorists, the government and the diseased. How well would you work with complete strangers in such a situation - would you rise to the occasion or be every man for themselves. Yes this is a zombie book but they are fast smart and they can open doors zombie. Beware, and yes read feverishly!

I was hooked into the story right from the beginning. The drama of the escape in the beginning was palpable. There was some areas I found difficult though, I felt like as the middle of the story came, the drama was more in the background. It picks up again at the end, but only some. I feel like if I knew more about, or if the characters had more direct interaction with, the villainous group I would have been more invested in their struggle.
