I want Daisy Crest, and I always get what I want.

The name Camden Rutgers is golden in Hickory Creek Township, Tennessee. My father is the president of the Serrated Brotherhood MC. My mother is a member of local royalty.

More than my good name, I have the looks, money, and power to entice any woman to slide my Harley between her legs and take a ride. I expect the same response from Daisy when I make my move.

Let's just say things didn't go well.

For months, I assume Daisy will run back to me. Too bad she hates exercise and her ego refuses to let her grovel.

Frustrated with waiting, my heart demands I claim the quirky virgin. Daisy can hem and haw, play cold with my heart, and even try reasoning with me, but nothing will prevent her from becoming my Bourbon Babe.

Bourbon Blues is a standalone romance within the Serrated Brotherhood MC trilogy.

***Warning: This novel contains scenes of a sexual nature, violent themes, and coarse language. It is intended for mature readers.***

They're Funny ... AT FIRST

description

Her

"Chivalry isn't dead, but it's lazier."

Him

" My inner caveman demands she knows I'm a good provider. I'll get her the best booth, order any food she wants, kill potential predators, and buy her the best cave on the block."

Her

"Can we have a real date? A real date where I'm not wearing 'geek' on my shirt and my sisters aren't keeping score. Is it too early to ask for another date , or do I need to wait and see if I ruin the rest of this one?"

Him

So you think you'll lose interest once I put out?

So, they're funny for the first 20% or so.
It's a slapstick, dirty-mouthed, ditzy romance about a nice caveman biker guy who has decided that he's found the one & pursues her endlessly.

I was loving it ... And then it became clear I was on a train to nowhere and the humor gas tank was running on empty.

description

Where The Fuck Is The Meat & Potatoes ?!?!

description

So, the humor dissipates and I'm left with no real plot here outside the romance going from a -z, .... and what little there is isn't finished by the end of the book.

description

It's a lot of redundant RAMPLING on their future sex life and what it'll be like once he takes her virginity. This is sprinkled with fat girl curvy girl and carbs talk, how Viking Camden is, dating and girl's nights, and how everyone seems to think they aren't a fit for each other.

description

They have sex, and it's redundant RAMPLING on their current sex life and future sex life. This is sprinkled with family drama w/secondary characters , how Viking Camden still is, how her magic boobs can win arguments, and how everyone seems to think they still aren't a fit for each other.

Here's what I got for your damn carrot offering...

description

Anyway...

Aside from the romance, the MMC wants to be pres of his MC gang, his brother and cousin have a tangled up past with her sisters, and his newest cousin may be a con man.

I'm bored.

description

Wish granted

The humor resurfaces during a fight scene near the end of the book between a bad guy and the FMC's trailer park crew. Hilarious. But, it's too little...

description

The End ?

While an extended epilogue years into the future was nice for the readers still giving two dipsticks about the romance, it also only further put a spotlight on the rancid smell that the author didn't finish what little non-romance plot line was here....

The MMC never becomes pres, he's bro issues aren't resolved, his cousin issue isn't resolved, the new strip club / pizza place burning isn't resolved, etc. I guess all things TBC in future books.

It's just A LOT to leave open and call this a "standalone" in the blurb!!!! The only standalone element is the romance itself.

Editor Needed

A lot of typos like ..

"You're an asshole," she says, sitting up and pulling off your nightgown.

This is certainly not the caliber of accuracy I'd expect from an author with 23 titles credited to her name.

Bottom Line

description

A one-trick pony book that loses its luster fairly quickly. Nice romantic wrap up, but all the other balls are left dangling in the air or dropped on the ground for future books to pick up.

3 stars for first 20%
1 star for last 80%

I'll give it a very, very generous 2 humorous stars.

Camden sees Daisy, i.e. Bourbon Babe, at a party. During a quick make-out session in the bathroom turning into more, Daisy gets scared and runs. Camden is pissed that she left and spreads a nasty rumor about her, well partly. What was supposed to be a quickie in the bathroom turns into an obsession and Camden decides to pursue her. Once he sets his sights on her, she is HIS.

This was totally hilarious. I lol'd quite a few times and could not help but to smile. I absolutely LOVED Camden. He was that OTT possessive hero that I just can't get enough of. Though Daisy had some self-esteem issues, I loved her as well. She soon became as addicted to Camden as he was to her. Both of their families are a hoot. I'm not sure I'll read Ruby and Bonn's story. Unfortunately, BUT So, I might read it...maybe...probably.

Though this is technically a motorcycle club, we really don't get the typical stuff which I really appreciated. We also get a cameo of Hayes, Candy and the weird twins from Junkyard Dog.

There were a few editing mistakes that kept catching my eye...missing words or the wrong word used. But overall, I really enjoyed it. It was fun and I loved the Epilogue.

This book is so close to a 5 star rating for me, I literally didn't go to sleep till I finished this book(I got 4 1/2 hours of sleep and I love my sleep). The second I finished this book my mind wouldn't stop racing thinking about what would happen with this person or this person, how it would all end, would this person get what was coming to them, would this person get a book, please let this person get a book. My brain wouldn't shut down, I had so much fun reading this one.

At a party that Daisy is convinced to go to, Daisy see's Camden. Camden is a man used to getting his way. His dad is the MC president, and his moms family runs the town. Camden is used to getting his way and in fact always gets what he wants. When he see's Daisy he wants her and sets out to get her. When they are together that night at the party Daisy gets scared and leaves. Even though Camden can get pretty much any girl he wants he can't get Daisy out of his head.

Daisy knew they were very different what she didn't expect to happen was for Camden to chase her which is something he has never done before. And once Camden sets his mind on something nothing will stop him, now he plans to everything he has to to get Daisy even if those around him don't want him to. As Daisy and Camden fall in love Daisy can't believe the turn her life has taken and more how easy it is to love Camden and be with him. Daisy will also have to find out pretty quickly if she is strong enough to live in Camden's world.

While they are falling in love changes are coming to the MC and those Camden knew he could always count on seem to be turning on him and making new plans. Camden always knew he would fallow in his dad's footsteps but now it seems some want to take what is rightfully his and what he has earned. And when some new people come to town to cause more problems they have no problem hurting Daisy to hurt Camden in the process.

You know if its a Bijou Hunter book that you will laugh many, many times while reading and she did not disappoint. My loving family just ignores me or laughs at me. The heroine Daisy was so funny, she has some comments and thoughts that had me rolling on the floor. Camden our hero of course is possessive. Daisy is it for him, he doesn't care what anyone says she is it, she is his number one priority and he will get what he wants no matter what. They are so perfect for each other, their difference work and make them better people together. We also get tons are great side characters that I loved just as much as our main characters, hence one of the reasons my brain wouldn't shut off I kept thinking about the characters I wanted to have books(and thank goodness they will all be getting book).

We get a great build in Camden and Daisy's love after reading this book I know they are solid and in love and that thirty years from now they will still be just as in love if not more. I loved how much we see of them falling in love, getting to know each other, and Camden learning that yes he gets his way but that he has to compromise (I love how Daisy gets that to happen). I just loved seeing them fall in love and grow in love. And then when the conflict comes in you couldn't have pried my kindle from my hands without a gun to my head, and I couldn't wait to see how it all ended.

This book has a great hea, and you know we get an amazing epilogue(Bijou Hunter is a girl after my heart with her epilogues) but the main story/conflict of the MC isn't finished. This books isn't a cliffhanger we just have to read the entire series to see how it will all end like other series by Ms. Hunter. I am about bouncing in my seat wanting to read the next two books in this series, and I have no clue how those two books will go and I love that. I can't recommend this book enough. It will be a re-read for me. I am always amazed at Ms. Hunters talent all I can think of while reading her books is yep she did it again but after so many amazing books that really shouldn't be a surprise.

*Thank you Bijou Hunter for this Beta/Arc read.

This book was a RIOT.

I enjoyed this one for the most part. I LOVED Camden and Daisy and their interactions. Her family was also sweet. However, I LOATHED Camden's brother Dayton and doubt I will bother reading his book.

I also found it to drag a bit, and wished there was more information about the MC. It's hovering there in the background, but nothing is really fleshed out with that aspect of the story. I think had there been more time spent on that aspect, and a little less on "farts" and sometimes really juvenile dialogue. It would have garnered another star from me. Also, the epilogue confused me a bit. Obviously we are shown into the future yet we everything seems to be the exact same MC wise??

Overall though I am glad I gave it a read.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
From start to finish this was a fun amazing read.
The hero and heroine what a great pair and their love of different music sounds just like me and my husband!!! Omg it was awesome. I loved these two as a couple. They worked at it and made it work.
I was floored by how much the heroine is willing to risk and how loving the hero was towards the heroine.
So great a five plus star read for me. I even enjoyed her sisters and his crazy family. I may read the rest of this series.
No matter what this book is a standalone and can be read as one.
Awesome book a keeper!!!!!

I have a GR friend who just loves this author (you know who you are :)) and I finally decided to take the plunge and do a read.Well,I was not disappointed ,the book was enjoyable along with the characters. There were a few times that I laughed at some of the MC's comments and I never read a book where the hero "farted" before!
There was a portion that dragged, but it soon picked up and I was able to read this in one sitting.

2.5 Meh.

Nothing special with this one, can't think of absolutely anything to say. Don't even know if I'd recommend it to someone (but can't decide if I wouldn't, either).

So have fun, whoever reads it, and hope you enjoy it more than I did!

Camden Rutgers wanted Daisy Crest, he had been biding his time before he made his move though and when he did she succumbed beautifully until she freaked out and ran. Camden has been waiting for Daisy to beg him for another chance, now two months later he is realizing it is not going to happen. Game change for Camden, he does not chase any woman but where Daisy is concerned he will make the sacrifice.

Daisy doesn't want to go out with Camden, he spread a rumor and she is not sure she will ever let it go. Camden is persuasive though and has a quirky view of wooing her, after one night though she decides she wants to explore what is going on between them. Camden is next up as leader for his MC, but he needs to find a way to ease Daisy into his life and not have her run off. Daisy though might just surprise him.

I loved this, it was funny and just pure enjoyment. Loved Daisy and Camden, they are in a world of their own. Witty, charming, and pure entertainment.

Bourbon Blues was a second chance romance by Bijou Hunter. It was the first book in the Serrated Brotherhood MC trilogy.

Camden Rutgers was the rich son of the President of the Serrated Brotherhood MC. He was used to getting everything he wanted, when he wanted it and how he wanted it. He watched Daisy Crest from afar and finally decided it was time to have her. She didn’t fit his normal type, so he had to modify his approach and learn a few lessons.

Daisy Bourbon Crest was the daughter of a single mother and was raised in a trailer park with her two sisters, all of whom had different fathers. She was still a virgin but just hadn’t found the right person to lose it to yet. She knew Camden and lusted from afar, but wasn’t a risk taker and he was way too much of a risk for her lifestyle.

Bourbon Blues was told in a dual POV. The storyline was primarily about the chase, the adjustments in each of their lives and setting the stage for understanding the background and foundation of the small town, and its crazy residents. It was interesting - had some humor, a little suspense and some intrigue. The characters were well written and well developed but they were immature, so they weren’t my favorites. They were, however, in their early twenties, so it was fitting - just not my favorite type.

In the end, I am curious and intrigued about the other stories. There were some loose ends from the MC storyline that I’m hoping will be further developed as the series progresses. It has promise of deceit, action and suspense. Next up is Ruby and Bonn’s story. We had some appealing teasers so I’m expecting an explosive and drama filled story.

Bijou writes fascinating characters with sharp dialogue and laugh out loud humour and on the whole I love her books, 'Gator' being the one huge exception to this.
This one has all of the above and it looks like being a great series, as always I liked all the characters, the dialogue was great and of course it wouldn't be a Bijou book without the humour.
Talking of humour I have to admit that I laughed so much while reading the fight scene that I had to put my kindle down.
But if I'm being totally honest it doesn't have a whole lot else, fans of Bijou like me will probably be happy just to sink into the book and enjoy the whole experience, thinking how Camden and Dayton are a bit like Cooper and Tucker and is....you know what I mean.
While I enjoyed this read I always felt more was to come and I'm sure it will in future books, this one sets the scene nicely.
It's always difficult with Bijou's book to pick a line because there's just so many so this one was chosen at random

I love Bijou Hunter’s brand of down to earth characters, humor, and grit that she weaves into her stories. I had to remind myself of this after the first few pages of Bourbon Blues. There was some truly idiotic immaturity happening that had me rolling my eyes more than once. I’m glad I pressed on since it finally settled in and the author’s trademark banter had me grinning.

Bourbon Blues is a sweet story but centered around a not so sweet guy, Camden Rutgers. The spoiled golden boy of the Hickory Creek township, he almost let a temper tantrum keep him from gaining the woman of his dreams. I decided he was unbelievably self-centered and had some serious growing up to do. What saved him in my mind, was that he also had an insight into what was important in life that no one else in his family seemed to have. I gotta say, this contradiction in his character was fascinating and could be quite funny at times.

Daisy, aka Bourbon (her middle name), was the shy sister in an eccentric family. Full of nerves and lots of weird little foibles, she ended up being stronger than anyone ever thought she could be. Camden’s temper tantrum caused her to lose what little self-confidence she had so she was struggling. He needed to fix what he broke pronto, but she was understandably reluctant to have anything to do with him.

Once Camden got his head out of his posterior and started going after what he wanted, things got interesting. He came up with ways to chase her down that, although immature, had me cracking up. He also could dirty talk in such a way I thought I’d fallen into a Jordan Silver book. It was all kinds of dirty, raunchy, and hot. Just wow.

Their families were crazy, kooky, and not quite right. Some things were just plain sad with lots of fodder for more books in the series. I found myself wanting to drop kick Camden’s dad and brothers but hug Daisy’s sisters. The Mom’s just cracked me up.

I’m not a big fan of new adult books. I tend to only like them if the characters show a level of maturity not seen very often in the genre. Ms. Hunter has a special ability to make me laugh even though my eyes are rolling. She also can write characters that remind me of actual real life people, no matter how crazy the character acts. This alone keeps me coming back for more.

I clicked this book for free on amazon in May and only now I read and just loved.
The hero and the heroine has really funny scenes. The hero is a little crazy and the heroine and her sisters are hilarious.
The hero sees our heroine and no other woman is on his radar. He only has eyes for her.
Our hero believed to have granted that he's going to inherit the Presidency of the motorcycle club is faced with new candidates who present themselves and endanger his position. The twin brother and a cousin are vying for the presidency. A plot begins and our heroine is attacked and awakens even more the protective instincts of the hero.
I enjoyed and recommend.

"I’ll get her the best booth, order any food she wants, kill potential predators, and buy her the best cave on the block."

“One day, he’ll be old as fuck, and twenty-year-old sluts will suck him off and giggle at his stupid jokes. Except they’ll only do it if he still has power and money. If he gets hurt or ends up broke, do you think any of those girls will waste their time with him? Do you think they’ll take care of him when he’s sick? Nope. He’s only as sexy as his power and money remain attractive. In reality, he’s a lonely, old man begging for scraps from bimbos. I won’t follow that fucking route.”

“We only smoke when we drink, and we only drink when we gamble, and we only gamble with people we trust. That’s how we keep it safe and sane.”

“I want to fuck you right here,” he growls when our lips part. “Don’t you mean you want our souls to touch through our crotches?”

Daisy and Camden.
In some small town in Idaho (i think?) there is yet another biker club. Camden is the heir apparent. There is also a trailer park full of feisty sisters and their cohorts, named 'the Devine sisters'. But they aren't a country band; They only sing Karaoke (every Friday).
Camden is the prince whom everyone loves or wishes he loved them, (and he has for quite a few of them) and Daisy is the Cinderella (a virgin of course) but instead of a hateful Stepmom, the town is full of hateful spiteful women (other than her sisters of course). After a rocky start, Camden proceeds to woo Daisy, much to her consternation at first. That's most of the story, plus throw in a shady new guy in town and his evil minions. There's plenty of set up for the other sisters' stories and I confess I am drawn to Ruby's story like a moth to a flame.
The banter is good and that is really what kept me reading, cause otherwise it would have been pretty boring, and I did consider DNFing a couple times. I skimmed quite a bit through the middle.
I really enjoyed the characters. Daisy is no doormat and Camden is pretty thoughtful for a conceited biker hot guy. They were a good match!
I would try more by this author though and, like I said, sign me up for Ruby's story!

A light funny read with a ditsy virginal h and a H who tortures/kills as part of his day job! I enjoyed it in bits and pieces where it does not drag like it does in the middle overs.
I especially liked the H…a biker bad boy hell bent on becoming a steady married guy-a virtual impossibility but there you have him!
I can’t wait for the other two stories in the series. Those characters and their conflict drew me in more than the present story.

I give up. I keep trying to read it and keep stopping. I just can't do this humor. It has a fast pace type of writing you associate with a comedy but I just didn't find anything funny though. I was more annoyed than anything and I kept trying to relax and get the humor but it really just isn't working for me. I know others will enjoy it but I think the humor and me don't mix.

Funny, sweet and hot! That is just the tip of the iceberg to describe Camden! He saw Daisy and knew he wanted her and went about getting her in all the wrongs ways! Soon he realizes that she isn't like other women and changes tactics. This was such a great, light read for me. I consider it a safe read. Once Camden decides he isn't taking no for an answer, he is all in with Daisy. After their kissing fiasco at the party, she won't see him or take his calls. He tells her he did try to be with two other women ( one exactly like her and one exactly opposite) but he can't, she is it for him. I'm glad that she didn't push him away for the majority of the book. There is no cheating, no ow/om drama, no love triangles and we even get a HEA. The book has a lot of funny banter between the characters. I hope there is more to this series and we get more of glimpse at this amazing couple!

Camden is definitely one of my favorite heroes in a book. Daisy is also a favorite heroine of mine. This book has humor along with the romance and that's something you always get with this author's books. Camden is so possessive and in love with Daisy. I love that he always put Daisy first above all else. He never cared what anyone thought or said. He was his own man and loved with his whole heart. He would never make the mistakes his dad made before him. We also get a great epilogue. I can't wait to read Bonn and Ruby's book. I have a feeling Dalton (Cam's twin) may be the H of the third book but I'm hoping he isn't. I did not like him at all. He's weak and a little puppet. Harmony deserves a better man than that. I really can't say enough good things about this book. It had everything I look for in a book. And I absolutely loved all of the ladies of Lush Gardens.

I love the sarcastic ways the characters talk! I haven't laughed that hard since the Little Memphis Series. Daisy was so sweet and Camden was so alpha that it made the couple perfect. The fight scene in the trailer park was the bomb!!! Another great read from Bijou Hinter. I can't wait to read Whisky Blues!

I fell into this story from the first page, while the characters actions kept my interest, and I couldn't put the book down until the story was done. The hero is a smart mouthed, funny kind of guy. He is a smart alpha male. The heroine is an independent, intelligent woman who learns ways to hold her own with her alpha male. Some things she does annoys me, but other times her thinking and actions are like how women react to those situations. The characters come alive in this story for me. There are steamy sex scenes mixed in with the romantic story. I found myself chuckling frequently while reading this story. I always enjoy the epilogues Bijou writes. I think it is my favorite part of the story, hearing how they end up. This is a good start to a new series. We are left with some questions that I think will be answered in the next books. I enjoyed this book and I look forward to the future ones in this series. There are some men and women I would like to see get their happy ending as well.
If you have read Bijou's previous works, this book is a lighter story then the others. Another good one from Bijou!

DNF @ 33%.

I tried to give this one a shot but it was too boring. The characters sucked. I had a real problem with the h. She had WAY too many issues with her self-esteem and weight. So she has all these hang-ups and here comes a big, popular, good looking guy who makes it all go away with his attention.

My rating: 3 stars

What I liked: I really loved the banter between the H and h. The H is really sweet, yeah he wants things his way but he definitely loves the h.

What I didn’t like: I didn’t like how the book hardly had anything going on. It’s one of those books you read and later you forget what it’s about.

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Triggers: It’s mentioned that her sister was cheated on by H’s cousin (who gets their own book), also the h and her sister are assaulted but everything works out.

Final thoughts: This was an ok read. I will definitely read the next book since it’s the sister that was cheated on.

Damaged World Reading Order From Author - - -

I'm often asked about the best reading order for my books related to the Damaged series. My website has the series order. Of course, I attempt to write each book to stand on its own. So if a reader skips a book or a series, they shouldn't be lost. However, below is the chronological order each book connected to the Damaged series takes place.
****
Sunday Morning (Damaged, Bk#9)
Damaged and the Beast (Damaged, Bk#1)
Damaged and the Knight (Damaged, Bk#2)
Damaged and the Cobra (Damaged, Bk#3)
Damaged and the Outlaw (Damaged, Bk#4)
