'Tempting Mr. Wrong' by Kerri Carpenter is book two in the "Wrong Man" series. This is the story of Lance Townsend and Carly Quigley.
Carly's brother died and now she is raising his small little girl. All is going okay for her until Lance shows up. Lance was her brother's best friend and also an old love of hers. Lance now comes to her after she found a letter address to him from her brother. Lance finds in that letter words that ask Lance to help take care of his daughter if something was to happen to him. Lance is the child's God Father so he goes to visit Carly and his god daughter. Lance has never stopped loving Carly but at the time didn't want to really be tied down. Now he is back and we get to watch how they get a second chance at love.

Another entertaining read by Kerri Carpenter, I really enjoyed Tempting Mr Wrong.

I enjoyed watching the romance develop between Lance and Carly. They were both good people who were trying to live life the best way they could with what they've been given to deal with.

Watching Lance with Carly's little niece made my heart swoon. He was sweet, cute and adorable.
Then when he was with Carly he was this sexy, dirty mouth guy who was hot as sin!
Lance was the perfect man for Carly.



Overall Tempting Mr. Wrong was a well written friends to more romance with great characters that will touch your heart.

I'm a fan of Kerri Carpenter's writing and once again she's given us a heartwarming, sweet and entertaining read. I highly recommend Tempting Mr. Wrong.

It's never the wrong time to pick up a sweet and sexy, quick and easy read like Tempting Mr. Wrong. This one is a happy-making kind of book—simple and not overly taxing on one’s emotions, but fun nevertheless. One you'll close with a smile on your face, but, to be honest, start to put from your mind after a few days…

Not that that makes this a bad book—far from, in fact. Tempting Mr. Wrong was gentle; it flowed and ebbed around an obstacle that perhaps wasn't as…err…obstacle-y as it could have been, and was filled with truly likeable characters. I enjoyed the very easy style of Kerri Carpenter’s writing, and the fact that this book didn't expect too much of me, and I hope that the books that come before and after are the same. In fact, I jumped right over to Amazon and one-click book one in this series, Kissing Mr. Wrong, and will definitely be on the lookout for future books, because ADAM.

But not just Adam. I would like to know what comes next for this couple, because both Lance and Carly were kind, strong, caring people. Selfless, really. Lance, in particular, was very, very swoony in his scenes with Mya, the daughter of his late best friend, and his own goddaughter. The commando play-time scene is worth the cost of admission on its own, IMHO. Likewise, Carly’s moments with little Mya were lovely, and that kind of picture-perfect that makes the heart throb, just a little. So, yes, it would be wonderful to catch a glimpse of their future, while seeing Adam—also kind and caring—settle.

All in all, Tempting Mr. Wrong is a book I am MORE than happy to have picked up. It didn't take me long at all to read, and I closed it feeling pretty good. I may not remember everything about it in the weeks to come, but since it's never a bad time for a book as adorable as this one, it just means I'll have to pick up again in the future. ~ Beth, 3.5 stars

This was a nice, sweet little story. Carly and Lance were great together. But there was something missing that didn't make it a winner for me. Between all of the "I can't, she's my best friend's sister" and "I know he's leaving soon, but I can have some fun and not get my heart broken" I got a little bored. It just was missing that zing! that I need in my romance. Too predictable, too...nice.

This story was totally safe. Love that Lance wasn't a man-whore.

Lance Townsend is ready to ride the wind and be free after living in the Army. When receiving a letter from his best friend who passed a couple years prior, all these dreams change. Thoughts of the sweet little sister, that he knew was hands off then and still should be hands off now, come rushing back to memory. Cari Quigley wants as far from Lance as possible. She feels like the "baby sister" and not the sexy adult she is. Obviously that has to be how Lance viewed her when her left her high and dry. Now that she has been left custody of her brother's daughter, her niece Mya, life has changed. All of her focuses are on this precious child who life dealt a tragedy. But can Cari's heart deal with a tragedy when she finds that bad boy Lance is Mya's godfather and it was requested he also be in her life with her?

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It was a quick, fast paced book, that I didn't want to put down. The two are really cute together as characters and I liked seeing the story unfold. This is the second in the series Wrong Man by Ms. Carpenter, but the plot line was so good and such well written that you didn't have to read the first book or been introduced to these characters to fall in love. Great read!!

Loved, loved, loved this one! It was light, funny, sexy, and heartwarming. A perfect relaxing read!

Lance Townsend has spent several years in the army, living a very structured life and now that his commitment is up he's ready to experience a little fun in life. Before he can start his adventure though he receives a lost letter from his now deceased best friend. His buddy's request is simple. If anything happens to him he wants Lance to check in on his sister and his buddy's daughter and make sure everything is ok. How can Lance not go?? Even if Carly is the one woman he wants but knows he can't have. So the first thing he does is go to visit Carly Quigley and her niece Mya. While these two seem to be getting along well, the house is in need of some major work. Lance knows his buddy intended to get the fixer upper in shape so Lance will stay and do what he can knowing that his time is limited here. Then he can get to his "bucket list" adventure!! After a few weeks of domestic bliss and spending time with Carly and Mya, his adventure doesn't seem as important as it did just a few short weeks ago!

A good read and one I definitely recommend.

This is a second chance military romance with great characters and an engaging plot. I really enjoyed the first book in the Wrong Man series, Kissing Mr Wrong, and this sequel is even better!

Even through his childhood, Lance Townsend has followed the rules and had a very regimented life but he's about to finish serving in the Army and he can't wait for the freedom to do what he wants, when he wants and where he wants. It as he anticipates his freedom that he receives a letter written by his best friend, Chris Quigley, before he tragically died. In the letter Chris asks that, should anything happen to Chris and his wife, Lance should check that all is well with Chris's daughter (who is also Lance's goddaughter) and Chris's sister. Lance met and was seriously attracted to Carly, the younger sister of Chris and one of the bridesmaids when Chris got married. Their attraction was mutual but Lance knew better than take things any further with his best friend's baby sister. Now Chris is gone so Lance goes to check up on the Quigley red heads - Carly and Mya - just hoping he can still resist temptation!

I have no hesitation in highly recommending this for anyone who enjoys second chance military romances - this is a delightful, sweet read with an adorable four year old orphan to add the aww factor! A story of living after grief, doing the best you can for the survivors and taking a chance on love. The contents of the final part of the letter is brilliant adding to the family feeling of this delectable, well crafted story.

I really enjoyed this one. It does start off on a sad note with bittersweet moments scattered throughout for the characters in this book. I just loved all the characters in this book. Little Mya was so cute and had me laughing a lot. The characters in this book are moving on after a tragedy. There is a lot of chemistry between Lance and Carly. Neither of them were looking for forever, but sometimes life puts people in our paths just at the right moment. I just devoured this one and couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this one.

I started reading series stories recently and now I’m obsessed. I love the fact that even though each story is a stand alone, you read about characters that are connected to the ones in the previous book. It gives me warm and fuzzies and added bonus is that you get an update on them as well.

This is a really sweet story set in terrible circumstances, it really gave me a good cry at times. But..... it’s also funny, the characters are lovely and it reminds us that no matter who we are or how old we are it’s never too late to learn what love and happiness really is.

This is book two in the series by author Keri Carpenter and this is the story of Lance Townsend and Carly Quigley. Carly’s brother died so she is now raising his little girl. Everything was going good until Lance comes back into town. Lance was her brother’s best friend and they used to be lovers. Lance comes to Carly after finding a letter among Lance’s old belongings that was addressed to him from her deceased brother. In that letter, he states he wants Lance to raise his daughter should he die. Well, that so did not go over with Carly at all. Carly and Lance dance around each other and they know they need to raise her brother’s daughter but Carly doesn’t want to do it with Lance. Her emotions and feelings are still smarting from the loss she suffered when he left her before.
This is a good 2nd chance romance because the male lead/MC shows that he does regret his choices and does everything he can to make up for what happened in the past. The female lead/MC is stubborn and does try the patience of a saint but I competently understand why she gets so upset at times and gives grief. There is a give and a take. I did appreciate the sensitivity shown about the loss of a parent and the writing in of a small child who is suffering grief. This is a good story to get engrossed in and become enthralled over. The ending was fantastic and the end of the seat action was good. The romance and suspense was other winning points for this story.

Lance gets a letter from the woman he should stay away from, but the letter is from her brother who is his best friend. Lance’s best friend passed away with his wife and left his little sister as the guardian of their daughter. Lance’s best friend’s last wish is for Lance to go check of Carly and his goddaughter Mya, to make sure they are doing well. The last thing Carly wants or needs is to see the man who walked away from her years before, but she can’t exactly turn away her niece’s godfather. Extensive time under the same roof with an undeniable attraction, what could possible go wrong. Lance has no plans of staying long term because he has his own bucket list to complete yet he doesn’t count on falling for an adorable little girl and her beautiful aunt. When lines cross and attraction get put to the test will Lance give up his plans for them or leave them behind? I loved the story and Mya sounded beyond adorable! 5 Stars!

Lance has served his 8 years in the military and making plans for his bucket list. His whole life has run on a schedule from the time he was a child. No more. For the first time in his life, he's free.

The story opens with Chris, Lance's best friend and brother to Carly writing Lance a letter because his wife thought he needed to since they're now married and have 2 year old Mya. In the letter he asks Lance to look after Carly and Mya, making sure they are okay should something happen to them.
Lance and Carly met at Chris's wedding and the sparks flew, but at the end of the evening Lance shut her down. Hurt and a little bewildered, Carly moves through college and grad school; living with Chris and his wife during grad school. When the unthinkable happens, Carly becomes Mom, dad, caregiver, and all things Mya. Doing her best to raise this little girl left to her care.

Just before Lance is due to be discharged he gets that letter from Carly that was somehow misplaced, reading it, knowing that he needs to do what his best friend has asked. He is Mya's godfather as well.
When Chris and Gretchen got married, Chris bought and old handyman special, which he put a lot of time and work into, but still lacked in some basic areas. When Lance darkens Carly's door, he's so busy taking in all the things he sees wrong, meanwhile still taken with Carly and Carly is stunned to see him. She never read the letter. His plan is to spend two weeks, get all the work done and hit the road because his bucket list awaits. And as much as he's tempted and wow does Carly tempt him, he tells himself it's just wrong because you don't do your best friend's sister. Lance is also taken with Mya and Mya with him.

Things heat up eventually with these two and the feelings deepen, the inevitable happens. They're a great match. Carly is all things carefree and happy and Lance is learning to loosen up and not worry so much about the toys in the room. Carly's even looking for a job and with the help of a friend lands her dream job with a non for profit that meant a lot to her and Chris. Their parents were in the military and they were shuttled between relatives and grandparents the whole time they were kids. They only had each other. So this job for Carly is huge. Lance and Carly are settling into a routine of sorts until one night one of his Army buds calls and his mother had gotten him a free suite for a week in Vegas at the Bellagio. Problem is, he has to be there in two days. So what does he do? He packs and leaves. But that's not the end of the story and you have to read the book.

I loved these two characters and of course 4 year old Mya lends a great bit of comic relief as only a 4 year old can do. Carly never once complained about her new role in life and took everything in stride, clearly her life revolved around Mya, putting her first. Lance I thought was a little rigid, but considering his upbringing and 8 years in the service... but his rigidity extended beyond that. It was nice to see him loosen up and let go. Thank Mya and Carly for that too. There are a couple of twists, small ones in the story and you hope for the best. This was a great read, it's romantic enough with no descriptive sex for those who are concerned about that.

This is technically the second book of this series but you definitely do not have to have read the first book to enjoy this one. There was cursing (including f-bombs – one of which was inexplicably dropped in front of a four year old) and on-screen sex, so if those things turn you off from a book, you should probably skip this one.

Although the first book of this series was okay, this book blew it out of the water. It is a quick, easy read, the kind of thing that most people will read in a day, but it is also emotional and sweet and really well-written. I was surprised just how quickly I found myself invested in Lance and Carly's relationship, and how well Mya was written. Seeing them bond with each other and with Mya were the best parts of this book.

I really, really hope that Adam is getting his own book because I found myself smitten with him and I really need to know he is going to be okay and have a happily ever after.

I would recommend this book to someone who likes swooning over a big bad military man falling in love with a little girl (oh, and full-grown her aunt) and/or anyone who enjoys getting teary-eyed and smiling and sighing happily.

This book was a light-hearted, easy read. Perfect for a lazy afternoon when you're looking for a simple, sweet read to pass the time.

Carly and Lance had a real connection when they first met at Carly's brother's wedding. Carly wanted to take the connection further but Lance turned her down out of respect for her brother. Years later, Carly's brother and wife are killed in an accident and Carly is now responsible for their daughter, Mya. Lance is left to fulfill his best friends last wishes to go check in on them and finish repairs on their house . Their connection is still strong and, despite Lance's hesitation to give into it, it's not long before they give into their mutual attraction. They both know that it's temporary because Lance has dreams to fulfill and plans to leave. Soon enough Lance will have to choose between his plans and then girls who have stolen his heart.

The highlight of this story for me was Mya. She was adorable, smart and intuitive. The interactions between her and Carly and her and Lance always had me smiling, even the times when she almost broke my heart talking about her parents.

A perfect in-between angsty reads kind of book.

Lance and Carly were a lot of fun to read about, but honestly I think little Mya stole the show! She was hilarious and sweet, and you could see how much she loved her aunt Carly and Godfather Lance.

The author injected the story with just enough humor and romance. It didn't feel over the top or unrealistic. I liked how both Carly and Lance loved Mya more than anything. It was wonderful to see them both step up to take care of a little girl whose parents had passed away while she was so young.

I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading others from this series.

This was a nice, short, safe, sweet romance that could be read in an afternoon. I had a few complaints about the storyline however, I am also uber critical so I won’t mention my nitpicky thoughts. I appreciated this wasn’t another billionaire office romance trope and I did think the two main characters were genuinely nice people attracted to one another that grew into love. I didn’t particularly feel any sort of spark between them, but I guess not everyone needs fireworks in their relationship.

Lance is three months away from completing his required eight years with the military and is looking forward to freedom. Doing things by his own schedule, or by none at all, just living in the moment, something he's never been able to experience, even as a child. Of course, it's a bittersweet freedom as he's still struggling with the loss of Chris, his best friend and fellow Army teammate, who died nine months ago, along with his wife, Gretchen, in a fatal car accident. Unbeknownst to him at the time, but two years ago Chris wrote him a letter, detailing his wishes if Chris and Gretchen were to pass away. One of those wishes is to finish any remaining repairs on his and Gretchen's dream house. Another is to watch over Mya, their young daughter, Lance's goddaughter. The other involves Carly, the woman Lance can't forget, Chris's younger sister.

Carly, now the legal guardian of her four-year-old niece, while missing her brother and sister-in-law something fierce, is determined that Mya live a happy life in a loving home and she's succeeding wonderfully, as evidenced by how much her niece adores her. She's recently finished grad school and is currently looking for a permanent full-time position. If her personal life has been a bit neglected lately, well it's just going to have to wait in line.

Upon seeing Carly for the first time in years, Lance is once again struck by the attraction he's always felt for her, but never acted upon, much to both his and Carly's regret. He's also inspecting the house with a critical eye and noticed several repairs that need completed to his protective satisfaction. Now to figure out how he'll survive being in such close proximity to Carly for an extended amount of time.

As Lance and Carly, for the time being at least, essentially live and raise Mya together, the chemistry between them is still just as strong, if not stronger, than it was years ago, and their connection is growing by the minute as they get to know each other and the people they've become over the past few years. It isn't long before they can no longer deny what's burning between them and the outcome is explosive.

Will Lance still adhere to the man code stating best friend's sister are off-limits even though Chris is gone? Or is he just more focused on his ever growing bucket list of things to do post-Army? Will Carly let herself fall for Lance even though she knows he's only there temporarily? Does Carly get her dream job? Will Lance realize he can have both his adventures and a family? Will Lance and Carly get their HEA? Does Adam, Gretchen's brother, get his own story? *sad eyes...I'm not above begging Ms. Carpenter.*

One-click this book now. It's a fantastic story. I laughed. I cried. I fanned myself a few times. The sadness these characters feel grips your heart and you wish you could wave a magic wand and take all their sorrow away. The happiness, and the adorable Mya, will leave you grinning from ear to ear. The path to HEA may be a bumpy road at times, full of speed bumps, potholes, forks in the road, and detours, but the final destination is always worth it.

Being in the military for so long, and living a very structured life has taken a toll on him, and he is ready to jump head first into his newfound freedom. But before his new adventure starts he receives a lost letter from a fellow (now deceased) soldier, and he makes one small request for his friend, if anything happens to him he wants Lance to check in on his sister Carly and his daughter and make sure their doing alright. Which seems easy enough, that is until he's face to face with Carly, they have history, and the minute he sees her again he's reminded of what they had, and what he lost... now he just has to figure out how to convince her they deserve a second chance.

The minute Carly Quigley opens the door and sees who is standing on the other side, her life takes a turn she never anticipated ... seeing Lance again is almost more than she can bare, he broke her heart a long time ago and she has never really gotten over it. But she can't really send him packing because he just so happens to also be her nieces godfather and he is there to fulfill a promise he made to her brother, so she reluctantly lets him back in. As much as she tries to avoid him, he keeps finding a way to sneak under her radar, and starts to find his way back onto her good side, and has her thinking things she thought were no longer in the cards for them... and it has her wanting to give him a second chance!

This was my first experience with Ms. Carpenter's work, and I have to say if left a pretty memorable first impression, her sexy soldier really lured me in, and had me at his mercy from start to finish, and swooning the whole way!! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of Lance and Carly's story, it instantly grabbed my attention, and had me devouring the pages as fast as I could swipe them ... and staying up well past my bedtime just to see them get their second chance at a well deserved happily ever after. I've got to say it is definitely one of the most enjoyable first reads I have had in a while, and I look forward to submersing myself into more reads from this author in the very near future!!

If your looking for a heartfelt read, with a sexy soldier at the helm, then look no further " Tempting Mr. Wrong" might just be the perfect read for you!! Lance is sure to steal your heart and have you swooning the whole way through!!

This was a cute read. I thought it was original how Lance came to check on his little goddaughter and ended up her aunt. It wasn't just the usual single parent, etc. plot line. I felt there was a great variety of emotions displayed and expressed well. Fun read!

This is a cute contemporary romance, with a guy who has been responsible and good all his life on the verge of going out into the world and exploring everything he’s never had a chance to do before – but before he can, he just wants to check that his goddaughter is all right. And it has nothing to do with her attractive aunt. The same aunt that’s been avoiding him ever since they shared many dances and serious chemistry at a wedding, before he ended the night by turning her down.

It’s the usual story – she was his best friend’s little sister, too young for him, so he did the honourable thing and walked away. Except to her it was apparently completely humiliating (he didn’t shout at her in front of everyone or anything, he just said no to going back to her room) and she has shown her maturity in the years since by hiding away.

He hardly jilted her, but there we go. That’s kind of the theme of this book, blowing up little things into huge, massive, insurmountable issues that cannot be dealt with simply by having a conversation and five minutes of thinking. Instead they are often resolved in cheesy coincidental ways.

It’s not a bad book, but it didn’t sweep me away either. Lance is pretty sweet and very useful to have around, but apart from travelling the world and ticking off his bucket list, he seems to have no idea of what he’s doing with his future now he’s out of the army – he just seems to have lots of money he can comfortably spend, while he drifts about aimlessly.

Carly is okay too, doing a great job of raising her niece. I have to say I found her kind of boring. At first I thought she’d be more unconventional and interesting, but sadly not. That’s the thing about this book, when it’s not making storms in teacups, it’s all very nice and steady and sweet, but not exactly memorable. While I definitely could have done without certain stereotypes cropping up here and there (Lance’s mother in particular), I did, however, love little Mya. She stole the show and I would have loved to have seen more of her and Lance doing less girly-things. So cute.

Overall this is okay, it has a lot of sweetness, some sexy chemistry, more cute kid time than you can shake a Frozen-themed stick at and lots of very nice people being very nice to each other. If you want something quick and easy, give it a go. I did enjoy it, but it failed to leave much of an impression.

Sometimes life throws a few curves at us, how we deal with them can change lives. It all started with a letter. One of those “if anything happens to me please send this to Lance.” types of letters. Years earlier Lance and Carly had met at her brother’s wedding – she was interested and not afraid to show it, he was attracted but more cautious because he didn’t feel his friend would like him being involved with his little sister. So there’s unfinished business now standing between them.

After the death of her brother and sister-in-law Carly has guardianship of their adorable little daughter and a home that could lovingly be called a fixer upper in dire need of fixing. She’d found the letter to Lance and dutifully sent it off to him, never expecting it to amount to anything.

Lance was finally out of the structured life of the military. He had plans to do some totally free and spontaneous living starting with his bucket list. When the letter arrived he planned to make a quick trip to check up on the girls and them continue on with his plans. And you know what they say about best laid plans…

Tempting Mr. Wrong is a delightful adventure into unexpected parenthood, possibilities and finally being right where you always belonged. A quick trip to check on his Goddaughter and the girl he let get away turns into staying just a bit longer to do some repairs round the house. It doesn’t take long before the charms of a little tyke is making that bucket list look not so important, especially when the attraction to Carly is growing and maybe returned.

This is a light romance, with some serious undertones, but really it’s a second chance romance. Lance has to decide if his longed for bucket list trip is more vital to him than staying right where he is surrounded by the love of two very special ladies.

If you’re a reader who loves second chances, and an uncomplicated love story then Tempting Mr. Wrong should be on your reading radar.

At the age of 23, Carly has just finished her master’s degree and about to start her life when fate took a different turn. Carly has been thrust into motherhood after a tragic accident took the life of her brother Chris and his wife Gretchen. Carly has taken on the sole provider for 3 year old Mya.

Chris wrote a letter a couple years before his death asking that Lance check in on Carly and Mya, look out for them and ensure their safety. So the first thing Lance does upon is discharge is head to North Caroline to do exactly what his best friend asked him to do. He would do anything for Chris, the bond is deep and Lance knows that Chris would have done the same for him. His only reservation is Carly. He has only met her once, although he had heard many more stories. That one meeting, at Chris and Gretchen’s wedding was enough to know that his control would be tested because the attraction between the two had been strong and instant. Lance’s plan is a quick in and out, check on the girls, make sure the house is up to par, and on to fulfill his bucket list.

Lance realizes quickly that Carly is stronger than anticipated but that she also would even think about their safety. It’s just not on her radar and quite frankly with everything she’s been dealing with, he’s not really surprised. Lance stars going about his business of fixing the house. He doesn’t know anything about relationships or children but he finds himself quickly weaved into the fabric of these two women. He’s not sure how it happened but his bucket list is slowly losing its importance but he’s set a plan and his not a man to change that plan once he’s set it into motion.

In the end, can Lance find a way to have it all or will he give up love and family for the independence that he’s been seeking his entire life?

This was a fun read, it had me laughing out loud a few different occasions. The characters have good chemistry and the dynamics worked well. Honestly, I don’t think my review does this book justice. This is my first book by this author, I look forward to more works by this author in the future.

Wow if you are looking for a book that is full of laughs with some sadness and lots of love then this is one read that has all of that.

This is the second installment in the Wrong Man series and this read had everything that I love. There was one scene in this read that had me balling because of an adorable little girl wanted to know when her mom and dad were coming home. She knew that her parents were never going to come home but when she asked her godfather that small question I couldn’t hold it back. These two characters are fighting their feelings for each other but sooner or later they are going to end up being together but it is going to take time for him to realize that he is in love.

Lance Townsend and Carly Quigley had meet the night that her brother got married. She put the moves on him and he turned her down. Carly is kind of woman that goes in it with all her heart and ends up falling head over heels in love and in the end the men always leave her. Is there something wrong with her? Of course not she is a woman that any man would want to fall in love with and she is about to find that one man. Lance receives a letter from his bestfriend and knows what he needs to go after he leaves the military. He is going to visit his goddaughter, Mya, and make sure that their house is up to par. The only thing was that he needed to keep his feelings in check when it came to Carly but then again Carly is ready to play. She knows that he will not be sticking around and playing with him will be fun. In the end her feelings are all in and once again she has falling in love and Lance is about to leave to Las Vegas.

Tempting Mr. Wrong was a wonderful read that I enjoyed immensely. I fell in love with all the characters and there was one more that I would love to learn more about and that was Adam Stone. He was Carly’s sister-in-law’s brother. The chemistry between Lance and Carly was beautiful and passionate. Ms. Carpenter’s writing comes from the heart and I could feel it in her writing. I can’t wait to see what is next in this series!!
