I liked how it was all spooky and scary, and that it had an unpredictable ending for a change. It was worth reading. It made me want to keep reading the serious--you can just stop reading the series with an unfinished ending.
The land of the lost was so fun. So many interesting characters. Typically you can spend as much time as you want in droon and it not matter. But having to leave the city by midnight is interesting to add in
And we left this book off on a cliffhanger!!!! Can’t wait to see what this means for the later books
- Pipe broke so looking for a wrench but find a message from keeah. They go to droon first because of the way time works - Orb draws attention and forces the truth out - Land of the lost is where living people can’t harm each other but must be gone by midnight - City of ghosts is underwater - Shago a rat looking thief - Ghosts are cheerful each day but become less colorful as they realize droon is not at peace yet - Sparr battled the queen for the wasp. She died and took it with her - Trapped keeah in a maze - Eric has the mail in his mind from the orb - Call galen with the mirror to unlock his mind - Sparr has a skeleton army so they can fight - Shago stole the queens cane to help fight. Turns out it was the golden wasp - Ghost’s color is coming back. They have hope in the friends to bring peace - Shago gave julie her bracelet back after stealing it. But… it has a different charm on it. One from droon… - Eric’s dad disappears and charm begins to growl!! What!?

SUMMARY: Lord Sparr has taken Princess Keeah to help find the Golden Wasp which is hidden in the Land of the Lost where the warriors of Droon wait as prisoners in ghost-like form until the day when they are set free. Eric, Julie, and Neal are summoned to Droon in hopes to spoil Lord Sparr's plans before time runs out and they become ghosts themselves.
NOTES: A very good volume in the Droon series packed full of adventure and story line reminiscent of Tolkien's LOTR series. One of my favorites in the series so far. -- It is also the only volume so far that has a cliffhanger ending that leaves the adventure unresolved.
That terrible awful rotten writer Mr. Abbott has apparently watched some old episodes of Flash Gordon, Buck Rodgers, or some other movie short that has inspired him into the Cliffhanger Phase of his books, Has nobody told him how harmful it is to put a poor child into suspense at the end of his book forcing the innocent victim into buying the next book to find out what happens only to be thrown back into another cliffhanger repeating the horrible cycle over and over until the victim becomes a fast and avid reader? well now he knows. This was a good read.
Ooh, finally an ending with a cliff hanger! I had been waiting for something like this to happen since the first book...
Eric and crew head to Agrah-Voor, a land where the ghosts of fallen Droon warrior heroes reside, in an attempt to save Keeah from the evil Lord Sparr. Excellent world building, characters, and plot as usual.
I liked this book because I like really super duper duper mega hyper secrets. I also liked this book because I liked the part when everyone went into the "black" water.
The Droon books are getting more and more engaging, as the plotting is better, even if the writing isn't particularly improving. The books still have tons of fragment sentences, and Abbott is really, really overfond of onomatopoeia of his own invention. But the plot races along in an engaging way.
Needless to say, since I've been expecting with every book that the kids would stay in Droon, this book was a welcome change. While they don't stay in Droon, it's nice to have that additional cliffhanger that they've actually gone back to Droon to rectify their mistake...
The characters in this book are Eric, Julie, Neal, Mr. Hinkles (Eric's dad), Keaah, Max, Sparr, and Galen. Eric, Julie, and Neal found this new world and no one else knows about but them. Julie and Neal came over to Eric's house but Eric and his dad were still trying to fix this leak under the sink. Mr. Hinkles turned the nozzle then the pipe broke and water squirted everywhere. Eric's dad told him and his friends to go find a wrench but instead of finding a wrench for his dad they went into the "secret world". The secret world time is not the same as the normal world. They went to the other world because when they see a ball that means that something bad is happening. Keaah is a princess and Max is her friend, and Sparr is a wicked sorcerer. Sparr is trying to look for the golden wasp but Keaah the princess hid it somewhere, Keaah wouldn't tell Sparr so he got this magic orb to make Keaah tell him where she hid the golden wasp. He used it and Keaah told him where she hid it so Sparr took Keaah and took off to find the golden wasp. Galen is a wizard, he told Eric, Julie, and Neal that they need to go to Agrah-Vroom . The Wizard told them the shortcut to that place and Sparr doesn't know the shorcut. So if they take the shortcut they should get there before Sparr does. If they stat pass midnight then they will turn into ghosts. After all this book is a really good book.
While I did already read the series when I was younger, I decided I wanted to read it again and relive the fun. I was surprised to see the book wasn't quite as long or fun as I remember it was still quite enjoyable.
Even though I restarted here, I always recommend to start at the root, so have at it, hope you enjoy.
I've decided to read The Secrets of Droon series entirely for Christmas since i've been feeling a bit nostalgic. I want to be able to live a bit of the magic of being a kid and what beeter to help than this incredible series. This one is full of action and we also get to meet a new cast of interesting characters. What I really like about this book is the cliffhanger that it leaves us right at the end. Each book gets a bit better than its predecessor, adding a bit more wonder and adventure to the series.
I read this book in like 4th grade. I loved it. The Droon books were very interesting and sparked my imagination. This was the most exciting one of the ones I read. To be honest, though, I don't remember a ton what it was about. I just remember that I liked it.
