This was a great first quilting book for me. We, that is, my family of origin and I, made a Christmas Sampler Quilt using these patterns for my mother. Well, I should say, we all made 2 patches and gave them to her on Mother's Day. She had to put it together and quilt it!! She is not a very emotional person, but the way she gingerly held and touched each patch, we knew she was absolutely thrilled.
This book, at this point in time, is still one I refer to, but the patches and the directions are sort of outdated, in my estimation. Still, it is a great resource for some of the more common patterns. I should also add that I got this book for my niece when she was learning to quilt.
