* Redd's Descent was originally part of the Wicked Legends box set, but is no longer being published. I *may* resurrect it and the series in the future if the interest is there. But for personal reasons, I have currently taken it off the market. If you have the original Wicked Legends box set, you can find it in there.*
The Dark Woods Series: The dark fairy tales your mother never told you about.
Celtic folklore warns its people not to enter the Dark Woods at night if you want to live to see the light of day. For Redd Kearney, he has no choice after the death of his grandmother at the hands of the vicious, mythical half-breed creatures. But what he finds is way worse than any childhood legend ever could have warned him about.
Finding himself chained up in the creature’s den, he has two choices: surrender to her evil to stay alive, or die resisting. But the stakes are high when he has a new travel companion whose virtue he needs to keep intact, and when his wife Aine’s life is threatened if he doesn’t comply and give the Alpha what her pack needs to survive.
Can Redd surrender to his dark side without losing himself in the process? Or will Mac’s dark, insatiable desires cause his full descent before he has time to escape?
Redd’s Descent is a dark retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, where roles are reversed and the big bad wolf literally means to eat her victim alive.
Warning: Redd's Descent is dark, Gothic, Gaelic, has mild violence, and has VERY explicit sexual encounters, sometimes bordering on kinky.
If this is not your thing, please check out my first novel, Faith in Love instead. It's a light-hearted contemporary romance novella with a little heat, lots of sweet, and is inspirational to boot.
USA Today bestselling author C.M. Albert writes heartwarming romances that are “sexy and flirty, sweet and dirty!” Her writing infuses a healthy blend of humor, high-heat romance, and most of all—hope. When not writing, or kid-wrangling with her handsome hubby, she’s either meditating, kayaking, reading, hugging a tree, or asleep. But first, coffee. #TonyStarkForever
The description says it all "a twisted retelling of Little Red Riding Hood." Wow. what a read/what a ride. This is not your kids' version at all. This is dark and tempting and a guilty pleasure. There are of course bits and pieces of the original throughout but this book takes it to a new level - this is paranormal, sexy, dark, intriguing. A book you won't want to put down. Combine the book with the clear, concise, descriptive writing style and it is a win. Cannot wait to see more from this author.
Different and interesting DARK twist on the fairy tale of what was originally Little Red Riding Hood.
Redd is no Little Red Riding Hood. For one thing Redd is a big strapping man. There IS a grandmother and a wolf. The grandmother is your typical Little Red Riding Hood grandmother, but the wolf is a whole different "animal"!
This intriguing story is a take on Little Red Riding Hood in paranormal dark magic form. One summer day, Redd Kearney, a very tall bulk of a happily married woodsman, sets out on foot for his monthly visit to his grandmother. He waves good-bye to his wife, Aine, a goddess of light. His faithful hound Bane accompanies him as he carries medicines and chocolate chip cookies to his grandmother. Although the woods are dangerous, he knows if he sticks to the path in the daytime and the protected clearings at night he will be safe through the two day walking trip. But on day two, Bane senses something and runs off the trail leaving Redd no choice but to follow. They soon find a young girl, Fiona, tied to a tree. Rescuing her and taking her along with him, Redd hurries them along to Grandmother's house before sunset. Let's just say his visit there doesn't quite go as planned and soon Redd and his companion find themselves unwilling guests in the castle of a pack of creatures that are half wolf and half human.
Redd barters himself for Fiona's safety. The alpha of the pack, a woman, has designs on Redd and uses her dark magic to make him bend to her every carnal desire - and there are many. As much as Redd loves Aine, he can't help but give in to Mac. Meanwhile, Redd's brother comes looking for him and gets captured too. Can the three of them escape safely? Will Aine ever forgive Redd for his transgressions with Mac? Of course you'll have to read it to find
The plot starts out with the characters very light and innocent and soon transforms into something dark and erotic, twistedly demented at times.
The characters were likeable, even Mac. I understood that it was her sole responsibility to keep their pack going into the next generation and why she had to be so ruthless. I wish we had been able to see inside Redd's head just a little bit more.
I especially liked Fiona and Ronan and look forward to their story in a future book. The ending was perfect and really let Aine shine.
I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next installment in the series, Aine's Revenge.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I just say I have not read anything like this before, all genres rolled into one book. This is the 2nd book I have read of yours and find that your writing compares with Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts, and Diana Gabaldon. You are an excellent writer and I hope to see you on a NY bestsellers list. You are truly blessed with a talent so many others would die for. I have read several indie writers and your writing is impeccable. This book, Redds Decent is many things. I laughed at the some of sexy steamy scenes because of how intense the characters became with one another. Yet it made me feel rather horny myself. Lol. Each character was awesome and grew in the book. I think you have found your area of writing my dear. The book felt naughty....a book to read on your own under the covers at night with a flashlight, or reading snippets while you can when no one is around. A forbidden book. To me that makes you want to read all the more. To be honest it is an excellent book and everything came together beautifully. I can't fault you on anything here. What is part two of this like?
A not-for-the-faint-at-heart take on a classic fairy tale. Handsome woodsman, Redd, sets off through the woods to visit his ailing grandmother. What he discovers *shudder* ...well, you'll just have to read it to find out. ;) Redd's Descent delves into the darkness while never losing sight of the light. I look forward to learning more about the characters in the sequels to come.
I can't, I just can't. Redd made his descent alright... right down on his wife. the first chapter starts with her missing him. so he takes his last batch of cookies he was baking out and brings one with him to the bedroom. I lost my shit when he shoves a piece in her... seriously, wtf? I'm done.
While NOT for those who are sexually timid this breathtaking and original take on Little Red Riding Hood is an amazing start to a, hopefully, long list of unique tales that reinvent the classics. Watch out for CM Albert......she has much, much more to come.....
I really enjoyed reading this. It was a dark twist on a classic fairytale with a little paranormal thrown in for added enjoyment. It was a great read. Albert has a way with words that makes you feel that you are truly part of the story, that you are there as a silent observer. I can pretty much guarantee that I will read anything she writes.
I love dark books, and so I was drawn to this story. It is indeed dark, and the struggle between Redd and the wolf was real. I like the originality and the characters. Decent quick read for anyone who loves a dark novel.
