Greece. The culture. The land. The people. The romance.
Aares put beautiful descriptors to work on her creation of the perfect location for love, romance, suspense. I will not say this was an in your face romantic suspense. There are moments of joy, fun, passion, illusion. The depth of the characters makes for an intense immersion into the world of Juliet and Parker. Their romance hot heavy. The attention to the surrounding world they are set in was beautiful.
This was my first read from Aares and I must say that I would very much like to experience more of the Tavonesi series and the people that are so intriguing to the series. **This ARC was provided via Tasty Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.**
This story brings love to two special people. Juliet is a nerdy scientist and is best friends with Zoe, her brother is Parker and he runs the winery and is a polo player. She ends up helping him in a photo shoot but now she needs his help with her project in Greece.
No Stranger to Love, is part nine of a series about the Tavonesi Family, but you don’t have to read them in order, they can be read as stand-alones too. This was my first book from this series.
Pamela Aares tells us the story of Juliet and Parker. Juliet’s best friend Zuri, Parker’s sister, has asked her to play Parker’s girlfriend for a photo shoot for a magazine, to help raising the publicity for his vineyard. Right from the start there is a noticeable chemistry between Parker and Juliet, but as they both have their issues with love nothing happens between them.
Juliet is a scientist and currently working on a project in Zantos, a Greek island, to protect the habitat of the sea turtles, as some investors are planning to build a hotel complex where their habitat is, meaning that it will be destroyed. Out of the blue she asks Parker to come to the island as she needs his help planning a big party for the campaign to save the sea turtles.
Juliet is also being threatened due to her work with the turtles. When Parker finds out he promises to protect her as best he can, and a gripping investigation into finding the people behind the threats begins. Parker is now determined to help Juliet accomplish her goal, that of saving the turtles habitat.
Right from the beginning of the story I dove straight into the lives of Parker and Juliet. I warmed quickly to them and their struggles with love. I also loved the plot, because it surrounded an important topic and gave it the right amount of attention for the reader to fully understand the implications of what destroying a turtles habitat would do.
Somewhere in the middle of the story I got bored of the struggle of the characters concerning their fears of falling in love, as both of them don’t believe in it. However, I was determined to finish the book, and as it is well-written I didn`t give up.
Luckily, I was rewarded, as the story of Juliet, Parker and the island Zantos got back to its own dynamic, exciting and romantic quality.
Fans of romance and erotic, will love this book. It has a gripping storyline and will have you begging for more. On top of that the author has a very appealing writing style, which is lighthearted and well-written.
Pamela Aares is a new author for me to read -- and -- I will be looking at reading a LOT more of what she has written!!! She is an amazing author who writes a ton of detail into her story - thus, making you feel like you are there and witnessing the story first hand.
No Stranger to Love takes you to Greece and the author makes you feel like you're actually there enjoying all the beauty. Juliet (the main female character) will steal your heart right away. Juliet's passion for her work is unreal and the way she works to save the endangered sea turtles in Greece is amazing. Parker (the main male character) is an amazing hunk of a man!!! He's always planning the big family parties. I don't write spoilers - but OMG this has got to me one of the best love stories that I have read in a long time!!! Pamela throws in a few twist but that just makes you want to read more!! Thus, not wanting to put the book down until you finish!!!
With this being the first book that I have read in The Tavonesi Series - I can guarantee that I will go back and start this series at the beginning - it is that good!!!! I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
I haven't read any of the Tavonesi series before and after reading No Stranger to Love, I'm planning to read them now!
Juliet agrees to help her best friend's brother launch his wine business and sparks fly! Parker and Juliet have a misunderstanding, but not before he tells her he owes her one. Juliet has to get to Greece, where she discovers that she desparately needs his help.
Parker, not immune to the chemistry between them, flies to Greece to help her out. He discovers there are dangers she's not telling him!
It's suspenseful, fun, and set on a gorgeous Greek island. It's just the type of story I want to read, next to an open window, with a nice summer breeze gently coming through. I was especially pleased that Juliet was a smart and strong female character, the likes of which are not always seen in romance novels.
*I received a complimentary copy in exchange for this review. All opinions are mine.
This was a new author for me and after reading the synopsis of the book I just had to read it. I so enjoyed this book. The setting is in Greece, and the descriptions were so vivid to me that I could easily envision its beauty which greatly enhanced my reading pleasure. It is the story of Parker (a handsome, charming and rich vineyard owner and famous polo player) and Juliet (a passionate environmentalist who is fighting for endangered sea turtles).
There is great chemistry between the main characters. They are coming together to work for her cause, but then there is a sudden twist n the story that throws them into turmoil and places them in danger. It is a well-written story that has humor, steamy romance and suspense that you are sure to enjoy. I am looking forward to the next book!
I enjoyed Fielder's choice so was looking forward to reading this.
I don't understand how people can spend time having sex when their lives are in danger. I would think that their priority would be to address the threat and not to have passionate sex with a stranger! So I am most of the time frustrated with these people who can't get their priorities straight and thus I cannot enjoy the book.
Most of the sex scenes are not TMI. The first two scenes have more detail, but the first scene's detail has some validity for the story...
The story seems to move into suspense, but the suspense is not the main focus, and that also disappointed me. It is like a brewing storm that evaporates within 2 seconds!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I love Pamela's style of writing and have enjoyed the first two in this series. No Stranger to Love was a wonderful read, reminding me why I loved this series. The romance, heat, attention to detail and a great story make this a five star for me:)
I love the way Pamela involves the reader in a cause while still maintaining a great storyline. We all know about the plight of the Greek economy but who knew about the endangerment of the sea turtles.Keep them coming.

Ah the fake romance, so much fun trying to keep everyone believing its real. So this is the ninth book in this series, and while I haven't read all of the books in this series, I have read a few of them. The series itself follows a family who is particularly well off. I like the family in general, and they all seem like cool people, but man oh man do they get involved in each others lives.
So this book follows our hero, Parker, who is really starting to make a name for himself in the field of wine. Only when a very prestigous magazine wants to do a profile on him, they also want to include bits about his personal life. AKA, he needs to find someone to do the interview will who will pretend to be his significant other in order to get the vibe the magazine is looking for. And so of course, meddling family member to the rescue! Zuri offers up her best friend Juliet for the job, as long as Parker makes a rather large donation to the animal sanctuary that Juliet is trying to get set up in Hawaii. I liked Parker, he seems like a stand up guy, although he does really seem to enjoy things going exactly the way that he plans. The thing about Parker is that he can kind of come off a little bit stiff or rough around the edges, but when he opens up you can see how invested he is in the things he is passionate about, plus you really see how much he cares about his family as well. Also I really liked how he was willing to kind of leave to go help Juliet out when she was in a jam.
As for our heroine, Juliet, I liked her more than I liked Parker, I think that's probably because she is crusading to save animals, and I am huge into rescuing and protecting animals. I also liked how she is kind of unaware of how people think of her, like it is mentioned a couple of times in the book, she really doesn't realize how beautiful she is. I think I just identified with Juliet through the book.
So the reason why this book got 3.5 stars from me, is that it really is a slow burn, maybe a bit too much of a slow burn for me. You can tell right away that our hero and heroine are attracted to each other, and there are even some sparks flying, but the build up to the relationship. I did like the authors ability to paint a picture, the settings in this book really came alive off the pages, which was enjoyable for me. If you are a fan of this author or of this series, then you should definitely pick up this book.
There was nothing Parker liked better than a great party. Well, almost nothing. He did like winning a ball-busting polo match and the satisfaction of a great grape harvest.
He stared out at the party he’d arranged for his brother’s birthday. The band blared out a brilliant cover of “Stand by Me.” Dancers shouted and raised their hands over their heads on the dance floor, and Beau gave him a thumbs-up from across the room.
But his thoughts weren’t caught up in the swirl of lights, pulsing music and celebrating dancers.
Five minutes before the first guests had arrived, Juliet’s email had arrowed into his life, upsetting the smooth facade he preferred to show to the outside world.
He hadn’t heard from Juliet since the day of the Sommelier shoot, two and a half months ago. Except for her formal thank-you for his donation to the seal rescue center. On letterhead. Typed.
A week later he’d sent her the email announcing the party for the First Flight launch. He’d added a postscript reminding her that if she ever needed him, all she had to do was ask. She’d responded by checking the response box that said Not Attending.
Though he appreciated what social media made possible for marketing his business, he preferred old-fashioned, face-to-face communication. It left less to interpretation.
To the imagination.
He didn’t blame Juliet for taking off without saying goodbye. Just as he couldn’t be angry with his sister. He regretted his insensitive remarks, but by the time he’d heard of their conversation, the damage had been done.
Perhaps Zuri’s truth-telling had been for the best. He wasn’t relationship material. And a woman like Juliet deserved a man who was.
After the wine launch, he’d thrown himself into hard riding, harder work at the vineyard and crafting the perfect elaborate party for Beau’s birthday. As if the fiendish buzz of busyness would salve the regret that tugged at him.
He skirted the dance floor and walked along the rose-lined garden path that led to his library. A tap of his finger and Juliet’s message lit his computer screen.
Her simply worded email alarmed him.
I need you for a matter of great importance. Come to Zantos. I’ll explain when you arrive.
The three short sentences were already pulling him across the thousands of miles to Greece. Knowing her, she’d had to swallow her pride to even ask him for help.
He owed her. Big-time. More than she knew.
The magazine cover and five-page article had shot First Flight and his vineyard to world prominence. He’d sold out the vintage and had orders for the next. The cover photo of him and Juliet kissing had gone viral. No one could buy publicity like that.
He stared at the cover he’d had framed to hang on the wall of his library. Like a sentinel guarding a world beyond his grasp, the cover glared at him, mocking him.
How could memories be both delicious and disturbing at the same time?
He could still feel the lushness of Juliet’s lips and the heat of her skin beneath his hand. He’d loved the spunky way she’d sparred with him. Loved? Maybe too strong a word. He wasn’t sure he was cut out for that fine emotion.
He ignored the voice of warning whispering in the depths of his mind as he put his fingers on the keyboard. She’d asked for help, he would give it.
With a few clicks, he had a reservation for a flight to Athens the next evening. And a flight out to Zantos Island after he had time to clear customs. Another few clicks, and a few typed words that didn’t reveal any of the mixed emotions roiling through him, and he’d informed Juliet of his arrival.
Pamela Aares writes a very exciting, and believable tale of love in one of the most exotic places in the Mediterranean. on an isolated Greek island. A suspenseful tale of sea turtles and the forbidden love of our youth, No Strange To Love, gives us scientist Juliet versus rich boy Parker who knew they would never like each other growing up together. After a chance meeting and a kiss at a photo shoot, they experience the sparks of love. But it's not until Juliet requests Parker's aid with an party, that the suspenseful, page-turning action begins. Definitely an easy read with just enough steamy sexual tension to hold a reader's interest, you'll love this one. I'll be looking for others to read in the Tavonesi Series soon.
One thing I truly love about Pamela Aares is her talent for description. Whether it's the scenery or the people, she describes them so vividly you can see them. But, at the same time, she doesn't get bogged down and lose the story. Also, you can tell that she is passionate about the environment and animals. In this case, loggerhead sea turtles and their nesting grounds. In this story, Juliet it's trying to save the island of Zantos, where the sea turtles hatch, from an unscrupulous developer that will destroy their nests and, ultimately, the life of the islanders. Millionaire Parker Tavonesi gets sucked into her sphere of influence and, eventually, into love with her and Zantos. Be prepared to be swept away.
Zara wants her brother’s winery to be a success, with him needing a female for the photo layouts. Who does she ask to step in since the other had bailed on him. Her best friendJuliet, with a bonus of donating to her special Hawaiian monk seal project. With that for the project, then she be off to Greece. The author has done it again, making the characters as well as the scenery so vivid as though there. The plot was good, of how you think you know somebody but, after spending time with them, you have a different idea. As with Parker and Juliet sparks were flying.Another by author that readers will enjoy.
Juliet is a marine biologist who is working towards setting up a turtle sanctuary on a Greek Island. She calls Parker who is her best friend's brother to help her to plan a special party to help the islanders want to support her project. Parker comes and later learns that Juliet has been getting threats about her project. Besides planning the party he wants to protect. What follows is danger and love.
The Tavonesi family continues their journey to love. Parker is wary to ask for help and Juliet is asked to help him by his sister and Juliet's good friend. I enjoyed them discovering the heart does what it wants inspite of what the head tells you. The settings of Greece and the Sonoma Valley make you want to go there to see their beauty. I would recommend this book.
This book brings it's story to life as well as the landscape. You could imagine yourself on the island and see the turtles that are endangered. It brings to light how animals can go extinct because we won't give a little. We have to look for help with those we don't want to and sometimes it turns out to be the best thing you could have done. Very enjoyable book.
I loved “No Stranger to Love” (The Travonesi Series) by Pamela Aares. You are grabbed from the first page. Combine saving loggerhead turtles, a hot polo player, threats, kidnapping, celebration, and love... the results are a read you can’t put down.
One good turn deserves another, right.. so when Julia is asked to pretend to be her best friend brother's girlfriend, little did either either of them realize, their lives would never be the same again. From sunny California to even sunnier Shores of the Mediterranean island Zantos, there are thrilling drama and romance.
I loved it right before he came to the island Then it became slow and boring. I don’t want to become a volunteer on the island. The shallowness of these people…….. A martini will take the edge of……. I’m just going to give up!!!! I don’t believe it, don’t feel it and don’t enjoy it. 46% in and not even half way there is doing my head in. Dnf
This is the kind of book you want to pick up for a leisurely read. I loved meeting these smart and complex characters. You just may learn a little about yourself through their quirks and insecurities too!
Parker and Juliet are a captivating and powerful couple. Was hard to pay the book down to take care of the everyday activities. Pamela's stories keeps you hooked to every page. I loved how she keeps the characters and the story flowing. Mesmerized. Mmm...love.
A tantalizing romance. When two very strong-willed people come together for a worthy cause hold on to your hat because there's bound to be lots of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages. A very entertaining story.
I liked the idea behind this book more than the actual book. I think it just dragged on for too long, both the external drama and between Juliet and Parker.
