Ingrid’s words haunted me… ______________ “It is said that every thousand years, the goddesses send seeds to Midgard to grow in the wombs of special women spread throughout the lands, each of them a chosen daughter of the goddesses and sisters to one another. In times of anguish and strife they come of age. It is the duty of the first awakened daughter to seek out her sisters and bring them together, for many are unaware of who they are and may be living a life of the unknowing. The first sister must unite them and in the face of the maelstrom, decide the fate of mankind.” “Um, uh, okay?” I said trying to make sense of her legend or prophecy or whatever that was. “Does that mean that The Captain was a Valkyrie too? She kept saying that I was her sister, but that didn’t make any sense at all if she was born a thousand years before I was.” Ingrid smiled sweetly and nodded. She said, “Then she most definitely was. That meant you were soul sisters.” “Soul sisters eh? I take it that means more than just the title of a pop song?” Ingrid shrugged and said, “I’m not exactly sure what it means, but you have definitely come of age in times of strife and anguish, that much is certain.” ______________ Oh great. Add even more to my list of impossible tasks. Not only do I have to find out what happened to Judy, where she got taken, and what The Captain had to do with everything, but now I’m being hunted by insurgents that want me silenced, as in, permanently? I’m trapped on a tropical island that nobody can find on any map, where immortal naked women rule and sex is more important than food. You might think the men would be happy, but then you’d be wrong. There is an evil male-led insurgency looking to overthrow the government and the women who are in charge are either trying to cover it up or are simply too oblivious to know what dangers are lurking under their noses. In the meantime, I may as well have some more sex so I can start planning what to do again with a clear head. Oh goddess, this island is really getting to me, isn’t it?
