Mechanic Ronnie Taylor spends most of her time with men. As such, she’s always been tough, but Diego Molina makes her feel the opposite of tough. The big Cuban is brash, bold, and gets under her skin. She finally has to admit the reason he annoys her isn’t because she dislikes him. It’s because she likes him a little too much.
When Diego turns the tables on Ronnie, he uncovers the sensual woman hiding underneath. But past regrets threaten to derail their new relationship. Before they can get to forever, they must trust that they’ve found what they’ve been looking for all along.

The title of this series really is Love Unexpected. You just never know what author Delaney Diamond is going to pull out of her hat of Love being found by the unlikeliest people.
Veronica "Ronnie" Taylor is a business owner of an automotive shop, she was raised by her dad Ezekial who is a widower. Ronnie's mom died when she was two years old, so it has always been her and her dad. Her childhood was happy, she had her male cousins to hang out with, preferred sports instead of fashion and cars instead of make-up. Ronnie can talk smack with the best of them, pretty much out play a man in basketball and pool. So yeah Ronnie was definitely considered one of the guys but what people didn't know was the heartbreak she endured and her quest to keep men at a safe distance, specifically Diego Molina.
Diego Molina is the the cousin of Tomas Molina (his story is Book 3 "The Wrong Man"). Tomas rescued Diego who at one time was in a very dark place in his life. Tomas convinced Diego to move to Atlanta for a fresh start. Diego not only took his cousin up on the offer but invested in his own business, a towing company. Diego's business is right next door to Ronnie, for Diego hookups has been his thing, he is not interested in a long-term relationship, he's been there and done that with devastating consequences to boot. His next door business neighbor is the gorgeous and sometimes insufferable Ronnie Taylor and he has been trying to get through to her for a year now with nothing happening in sight. That is till Diego sees Ronnie at a sports bar and challenges her to a game of pool, he doesn't want her money, he only wants a kiss.
Ronnie is incredibly leery of Diego, yes she lusts after him secretly in her mind of course and in her dreams but men like Diego didn't go for women like her. She liked her hair natural and cut closer to her scalp, she didn't wear clothes with all of her assets hanging out on display and her idea of a good time is not engaging in frou-frou but sports, her business and her dad. So what could Diego possibly want with her and why does he want to kiss her instead of taking the prize money he easily won by beating her at pool? Ahhhh because those Cuban Molina men always have more up their sleeves than meets the eye LOLL!!!!
A fantastic story of love found between two people who never thought to love again. I also enjoyed the story of Ronnie's dad who had been a widower for over twenty years finding love himself again.
I know the author stated in the back of the book that the next story is coming and I will look forward to purchasing it.
No development, rushed pacing, two dimensional characters. Notwithstanding, the story was okay. I especially liked that Veronica had a low hairstyle. I recently cut my long locs and am now wearing a teeny, weeny 'fro so it's good seeing this option in characters. Also, Diego is physically yummy. He does, however, lack any of the vitality his cousin, Tomas, had in his own book.
This book feels churned out...blah And Diamond needs to work on her verb tenses.
CUTE...FUNNY...and SEXY...I enjoyed the verbal sparring and INTENSE sexual tension between Diego and Veronica...and Ronnie's father, Ezekiel is quite the character...it was nice catching up w/rest of cast from the Love Unexpected series...I hope this isn't the last book...I would love to see some of the other cast in previous reads of this series find their HEA too!
Simply put, this was a satisfying read, but the ending left something to be desired.
In my opinion, the lack of an epilogue (short or long), affected the quality of this book.
However, I must say that despite this craptastic move by the author, that I enjoyed reading this quirky tale of a square peg Chica, who gets wrapped up in a latin fiya type relationship with a gorgeous Cuban adonis.
I'm so glad that one of my fellow "Fans of Interracial Romance" group members, was cool enough to loan it to me via Kindle.
I always live DD books I just wish they were longer!!! This is a short sweet story about Ronnie, a young woman who owns an auto mechanic store. She is a great heroine because she is so nontraditional, from her career to her looks. Diego is the cousin/friend of characters from previous books. He runs the towing company next to Ronnie and he's been fluting with her for a year but she ignores him because he's a player.
They finally come together when he kisses her when she loses a bet to him and there connection initially is primarily physical but intense. They eventually learn to trust each other and fall in love.
As always, loved the characters, plot was a little thin but i think that's because the book is so short. Look forward to reading more by thus author.
As usual Ms. Diamond has written a fantastic read. Having the main female character, Veronica, be in a non-traditional field was a wonderful plot twist. Having the lead male, Diego, be the one with the major emotional angst added such a dimension to this read. I read this book in one sitting and even though Anika was not a major character I can't wait to see how the author handles her unexpected love.
I was looking for something short, light and sexy to read and this fit the ticket. I enjoyed Ronnie and Diego, and was super- happy to catch up with some of the other couples in this series. Good story, but it lacked a little of Delaney Diamond's usual style, but having said that, Ms. Diamond is always a must-read, so if you haven't read this one, please do yourself a favor and check it out.
I love this sweet and spicy story! I love the way that the characters DON'T jump into bed the minute they meet. Diego had to work for Veronica's affection and actually pursue her in a sexy but respectful way. Diego and Veronica, both, have huge trust issues. When their lying, deceitful exes show up, will it bring them closer together or tear them apart?
So ... I ... didn't think Ronnie has been in any of the previous books? Well that I read... Diego is Tomas's cousin from book 2. => and I forgot I read out of order. So actually there's already been an easter egg where character's go to Ronnie's shop but :X that was in book 4 which I read last in my Delaney Diamond binge and I DNF'd it :X) OK MOVING ON.
Ronnie lives with her dad, and is a mechanic, and pretty awesome. [It kinda reminded me of Stern by Brenda Jackson but Ronnie isn't quite so OTT :P]
Diego is her neighbor in work place. They have a love "hate" thing going on - where they're attracted to each other but he annoys the shit out of her by leaving "messes" - taking customer parking spots, having a lot of cars parked in the back, etc.
Yo. His ex. His history.
[THE CAT]
I really liked how Ronnie and Diego then started getting along AND how Diego and Ronnie's dad got on. And that there was the secondary romance for the older characters.
The awful date Diego takes Ronnie on (PRETTY sure this is the one where they go to HIGH and then the fancy tapas place ... and :X - not a spoiler but hiding it since it's a personal anecdote and you probably don't care - so yeah. Not a great date place.
I think they go get greasy burgers which yum. They just fit so well.
I remember liking this one a lot- and I listened to the whole thing. It's just T_T my memory/none of it.
I'd probably have given this one a C+ though?
Because there's the "dark" moments and WTF and Ronnie does kinda - I mean she runs off but it's for a good reason and then she DOES listen to Diego, so I liked it wasn't all perfect - it was realistic but of course it all works out because romance. Yay.
I liked Ronnie right from the start, but it took me a minute to warm up to Diego. He came across as a player and not the redeemable kind. Even on their first "real" date with the women coming to the table.
I had a hard time seeing why would trust this man with her heart, especially due to her background and her insecurities due to past relationships (one in particular).
If she had been more confidant in herself I would've believed it more.
Still, I was glad to see her come into herself throughout the course of the book, and to see Diego fall at her feet along the way.
This one I thoroughly enjoyed. I really enjoyed the plot and how the storyline evolved. It was as one of the more believable storylines I've read in romance novels. I didn't find myself having to remember it was just a part of the "standard romance formula". I could relate to it all. Good job Delaney!
Ronnie was one of the guys but Diego did not see her that way. Even covered in overalls and grease from her work as a mechanic, she was fire to Diego. He desired her and she ran from him until that one sultry night on the hood of a car, Diego showed her that she was the only girl for him. Totally loved it! Enjoyable read.
Very good story that had me smiling and entertained. The series, "Love Unexpected" has been love at unexpected times and places . This story reminded me that orchids need tender love and care. Diego gave to Veronica and Ronnie reciprocated. They both blossomed. The surprise came with Veronica's father.
Missing Pieces I did not feel the chemistry between Diego and Ronnie. I like that her tomboy demeanor did not dissuade Diego from wanting to be with her but didn't feel the chemistry. I wish Ronnie had better self-esteem. I understand past relationship trauma impacted it but her choice of she hung around with also had an impact. I liked the little bit of drama that was presented but it was missing stuff especially with Loisa. What was the final resolution with her - she was supposed to live with Diego until she found a place. This didn't feel as fleshed out as the other books.
Diego and Veronica were fun to see come together. Definitely could feel their attraction. It ignited in a special way. They were honest with each other even when hurt and angry. All of the other characters added to the fun of this love story.
A great read for everyone. It was funny, emotional and thought provoking. It makes you examine on how you see yourself in either your eyes or through other people's eyes.
I really enjoyed Ronnie and Diego's story. It was so sweet how he accepted her for who she was. I loved her dad found love again and I really appreciate how Delaney keeps you abreast of all the former people in the series. Great series!
This is the story of Diego and Veronica, two young lovers but had been sadly disillusioned in life with prior relationships. They find themselves together on a daily basis due to close work relations. It’s a cute story and another addition to the love unexpected family.
Absolutely enjoyed this read as both characters had to learn to trust each other. Although I would have loved to see them both ensure there are boundaries set with the people they previously had relationships with, it was heartwarming to see the commitment to each other at the end
I love the characters I love the flow of the story I have one problem always with this write I think her story's are just too short that my biggest problem.
