Will their hot fling be enough to help them escape the chains of their past? contains a cute veterinarian with large feet. You have been warned.
USA Today bestselling author Serenity Woods writes feel-good romances full of friends, family, and falling in love. Most of her stories are set in Godzone, aka Aotearoa New Zealand, where she lives.
This series has been hit and miss for me, but thankfully it went out on a high!
Firstly the plot was exactly what I wanted. I haven’t read many runaway/jilted bride romances and there’s something about the chance meeting trope that really does it for me. Aaron was just the absolute sweetest and he and Bridget fit together so well. I wasn’t blown away by their chemistry (it was good but not an all-time favourite) but I did like them as a couple and the steamy scenes were pretty good. I also liked the sub-plot concerning Aaron’s son.
I loved the first part of the book and while there was a moment in the middle where it started to drag a little, overall I thoroughly enjoyed this. I think this book did a better job than some of the others in the series at satisfyingly tying up lose ends outside of the central romance and I thought the ending was really sweet.
Not my favourite Serenity Woods series by a longshot, but I would recommend books 2 (Tempting Autumn) and 4 (Persuading Spring) and skipping the others.
Persuading Spring is a great finish to the Four Season series of books. Like the other 3 books in the series, Spring is not a "cookie cutter" romance. The main characters, Bridget and Aaron came together with real life problems. He was a divorced man in a custody battle with his ex-wife over their son. Bridget had just been jilted by her long-term boyfriend who couldn't quite commit to a relationship. Both were cautious about repeating past mistakes and tried hard to just be friends at first. After all, they lived 500 miles apart and the barriers to their happiness seemed to be insurmountable. But life comes down to choosing priorities and compromising if love is real.
This is a romantic novel. I really liked that Aaron was emotional and, unlike most men, wore his heart on his sleeve. He was a veterinarian and took care of lost and hurt creatures, four-legged or two. He had to be careful about making impulsive decisions and falling in love too easily. I really liked the ending of the book; it was perfect. And the tour of new Zealand gave me fond memories of my trip there. You will really enjoy this whole series and Persuading Spring, which is stand alone, as well. I received a free copy for this honest review.
4.5 stars - standalone, fast paced, mature insta-love romance between two very lovable characters who deserve a HEA!
Persuading Spring is a fast paced, mature insta-love, kind of romance between two loveable and sensitive characters: Bridget, part of the Four Seasons owners, and Aaron, a single dad and vet. Both have always tried to put other people’s happiness before their own and know they get a chance to potentially find true happiness with someone of a similar sensitive nature. The book is told from dual points of views (except two chapters towards the end of the book where we get two surprising additional points of views), allowing the clear connection these likeable characters have, despite the unusual circumstances that bring them together. I personally loved the development of the relationship over the course of the book, especially the perspective Callie gives to Bridget about the potential seed and growing. The scenes with, and role of, Aaron’s son, Mateo, allowed the reader to see a different perspective of both Aaron and Bridget.
The book is light hearted with no real major drama but has enough smaller issues to draw you in. Be prepared for the surprising twist that I did not see coming towards the end of the book in regards to one of the situations; it heartbreaking and touching. The issue was very poignant and perfectly executed with such sensitivity and emotion. The book, as with the rest of the series, is well written and had a great HEA ending for both Bridget and Aaron (making it a standalone) and also the series as a whole (there are a few extra details of the happily ever afters of the previous books’ characters if you have read the rest of this series).
The only tiny niggle I had with this book and why I knocked half a star off was I found the book a little repetitive at times; I had a sense of deja vu of having already read some emotions/beliefs earlier on in depth and wanted to skip over them when they re-cropped up to the same extent. I’ve never had that before with Serenity’s books so I know it’s not the norm and may have just been my personal views while reading this particular book (hasn’t put me off being a huge fan of her works and am already eagerly await her next book and series!).
Overall, if you are looking for a relatively light hearted romance that starts as a fun fling after difficult circumstances or if you enjoy a single parent romance, definitely give this book! For fans of the series, Persuading Spring is the fourth and final book in this series and does a great job of rounding this series off in style and you will not be disappointed with it.

This is the final book in Serenity Woods’ New Zealand “Four Seasons” series about four friends who started a successful lingerie business and then find love. I’ve enjoyed all the books in the series, but this one might be my favorite. The two main characters are gentle souls who clearly belong together and who develop a mature relationship. It is believable that these two people would fall for each other unlike some romances when the characters fall in love just because the author chose to put them together but no one thinks that such people would fall for each other in real life.
This book is Bridget’s story and starts with her boyfriend of seven years leaving her at the altar. She runs out in her wedding dress to ponder why she stuck with this jerk for so long. There she is in the rain on a bridge in Wellington looking pretty desperate where she’s seen by Aaron and his son, Mateo. Aaron is a veterinarian going through a custody battle over whether his ex-wife will be allowed to take his son to Spain with her. And Aaron is just one of the nicest heroes you’ll ever encounter in a romance novel. He offers help to Bridget and, of course, they’re both immediately attracted to each other.
Bridget travels to the small northern island in the Bay of Islands where Aaron has a surgery. It’s several hundred miles away from where Bridget lives and works in Wellington. But she needs a break after her embarrassment over her failed wedding. The two spend time together exploring the possibilities of their relationship while touring northern New Zealand. The reader gets a mini travel-log about that area of New Zealand which made me wish I could be visit there.
What really won me over to this book was that Woods is adept is showing why two people are attracted to each other and fall in love. It’s not some immediate love-at-first-sight moment, but instead is based on the connections they make as they spend time together, even if Bridget and Aaron’s romance develops over a very short period of time. Both are lonely and recovering from failed relationships and wary of falling for someone else so fast. Of course, what woman would fall for a kindly, sensitive, hunky vet whose life revolves around his love for his son and the animals he works to save.
My one complaint is that the complications that are set up based on the distance the two live apart and Aaron’s fears of losing his son are all resolved quite quickly. The book is mostly set-up and an exploration of their growing love and then there is a quick resolution. But that is a small quibble about a novel that is a step above many romances.

Awesome 5 star contemporary romance that takes place in New Zealand. Bridget and her three friends own a thriving lingerie store. Each of the the women have gone through their own struggle in developing a close relationships. Bridget is on her way to get married to Mal at the JP office. As soon as they all arrive Birdie knows Mal isn't coming. So she tells everyone she's taking a break from everything. She runs from the courthouse in the pouring rain and stands at the waters edge in her soaked wedding gown. This is were she meets Aaron and his son Mat. She's soaked and her wedding gown is ruined. Aaron is concerned by the chills she's having and the confusion & depression he sees on her face. He offers her a chance to get a hot shower, food and dry clothes. All their friends think this isn't a good situation for either of them. Their friends think she us on the rebound and that both of them will get hurt. There are a lot of struggles for this couple. They have to deal with input due to their families concerns over their budding relationship. The story tugs at my emotions and draws me into the couple's lives. I received a free copy of the book solely in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to reading more books by Ms Woods in the future.
Wow! What an amazing ending to a fantastic series. Bridget, who along with her friends, owns a lingerie company, gets her own HEA in this last book of the series. Bridget, is left reeling after being jilted at the alter, and is rescued by Aaron, and his son Matteo. Despite her sadness and humiliation, Bridget finds herself attracted to Aaron, who lives 500 miles away. She visits him for a week, and their relationship blooms. This novel touches on many subjects, such as bullying, divorce, parental rights, family and friendship, which pushed all my emotional buttons. I loved it!
Although, this can be read as a standalone novel, I highly recommend reading the whole Four Seasons series. This last novel is a great culmination of the series, and catches us up with all of the characters. Serenity's writing makes you feel as if you know these people, and her descriptions of New Zealand, makes me want to go there, and in fact makes me feel as if I have been there.
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the final book in Serenity Woods’ New Zealand “Four Seasons” series, which follows four friends who start a successful lingerie business and then find love. I’ve enjoyed all the books in the series, but this one might be my favourite. The two main characters are gentle souls who belong together and develop a believable mature relationship.
This book tells Bridget’s story, beginning with her boyfriend of seven years leaving her at the altar. In her wedding dress, she runs out to ponder why she stayed with such a jerk for so long. Last in the Four Seasons series. Jilted at the altar will leave a girl in a miriad of emotions. In the midst of her confusion, she is rescued by a knight in shining armour with issues of his own and a young son to take care of. Add the entire length of New Zealand in between them and you have some challenges to overcome. A sweet story of climbing out of the pit of despair with the help of her brother and her friends, then doing a little rescuing of her own. Love will out. A wonderful finish to the series.
Bridget and Aaron make a perfect completion to this series. Bridget is jilted at the alter and is questioning everything she has been and has known when Aaron and his son come along and save her. An immediate connection leads to a wonderful fling only a week or so later. What’s supposed to last for a short while digs it’s way into their hearts. Miles separate them, life is busy and hard. How can they come together as one?
I was sorry to see it end, but it was definitely worth the read!!
What an incredible series this was! “The Four Seasons” series penned by Serenity Woods was absolutely incredible!!! Based on a lingerie business by the same name, each main female character led the storyline. Finding love is no easy task, but as the stories show when you are determined you can do just about anything! I highly recommend this book!!
I loved each book a little more than the one before. Aaron and Bridget's story was my very favorite of the series. It was the perfect ending with all of the long time friends finding their happily ever afters.
This is a sweet, spicy fairy tale with a slightly different premise—blissfully free of angst or a ridiculous third-act breakup (thank you) which I read as a standalone. It features a perfect man and a couple who wholeheartedly deserve their HEA.
Bridget and Aaron get their second chance at happily ever after. Love this series. A must-read for sure. Serenity has done it again, amazing love story.
Persuading Spring: A Sexy New Zealand Romance (The Four Seasons Book 4)
This is the last book in the series that has followed the four friends that took their business degrees and breathed life into a jointly owned enterprise known as The Four Seasons, a lingerie business.
The Fours Seasons Book 1 Seducing Summer: Callie Summer-CEO of The Four Seasons Gene PA/Bodyguard to Callie Summer
The Four Seasons Book 2 Tempting Autumn: Rowan- Fashion Designer of The Four Seasons Hitch (Nathan Hitchcock) Nature Photographer
The Four Seasons Book 3 Bewitching Winter: Neve Clark- Marketing Manager of The Four Seasons Rhett Taylor ________ (Mr . Second Chance)
Persuading Spring: Bridget Hitchcock- Buyer, Retail Manager, Display Coordinator, etc, etc, etc. Aaron Reed Veterinarian Mateo Reed 7 yr. old son
Bridget was rain soaked in her wedding dress when Aaron's son Mateo saw her off in the distance. Aaron and Mateo are her rescuers and they offer her extraordinary hospitality, when not another soul stopped to even acknowledge her.
The minute Bridget turned around, Aaron was a goner. A hot shower, a change of clothing, a meal, and time shared only reinforced the feelings of a fated meeting for Bridget too.
This story is a wonderful journey of self discovery for Bridget as she shakes off the " Birdie " facade, and allows for Bridget to truly embrace the strength she's always possessed to be her own person.
Aaron offers Bridget the opportunity to include he and Mateo's hospitality to see the sites in their area as she travels about on holiday.
Aaron has an undeniable lift in his spirit and spark in his eye when he returns to the clinic he and Joe run. As true friends, Joe and the rest of the staff offer their concerns about the future of the seemingly face paced relationship with Bridget.
It isn't about Bridget per say, but about the speed with which that relationship Aaron is once again undertaking. They have been there for Aaron's speedy and resulting failed marriage, and the hurt and struggle with being able to do the right thing for his son and self. Joe and his friends are truly trying to be helpful not hurtful.
Bridget faces the same sort of scrutiny from first and foremost her brother Hutch as he has been also her parental figure from the time their parents passed away. Her friends are also rightly concerned about this as she was just jilted and left at the alter by her long time and only boyfriend.
I have loved Aaron and Mateo from day one myself. Can I have them in my life?
You to are guaranteed to fall in love with the story of two seemingly damaged souls that are made whole and to include the other's heart and lives to live an HEA as a family.
Kudos to the author on a unique wedding and finish to the series that gives us, the reader, an update on all the others from the previous stories.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review, all words and opinions are mine and mine alone.
I hate having to start this review on this particular book with this disclaimer as I am so full of emotion and absolutely love this one most, it's my favorite of the series. This romance was everything women want, from the spark... to the wooing... to the magic of a HEA. Yeah guys we love a fairytale and what is so heartening is that there are guys out there, they may not be many, that actually are like Aaron. A strong man who is all male yet confident in his own self to be a sweet mush when it come to animals, kids, family and especially people he loves. He puts a smile on your face right through. We meet Bridget on her wedding day that goes totally wrong and she is rescued from catching Pneumonia by the sweetest and most endearing vet and his son. Aaron is a divorced vet with the hugest heart and I instantly fell in book love with this character who is my ideal quirky, romantic hero. He is all feet, hands and heart and an animal lover... No comparison! He is given a much deserved second chance at love with a sweet girl who also deserves so much better than what she had. Like everyone you would want to clout Mal (the cold-feet, idiotic twat of a boyfriend) and when she confronts him I actually felt sorry for him even after all he did to her... Hopefully he learns his lesson. We are given so much in this book as we deal with school bullying of Mat, Aaron's son, life after divorce and also being jilted at the altar. This story ties together so many elements that create such a full and totally enjoyable read as we are graced with the beauty and tradition of the Northern part of NZ. The Maori culture is also so much a part of NZ and we appreciate it so much more as part of the North. The life, history and tradition of such a integral part of the people of New Zealand, it is so great as I am enthralled with this culture and beautiful people that make up such a beautiful place. I can only keep thinking over and over "my heart runneth over" as this is the most emotional of all the books in this series and seems rather appropriate as it is the closing chapter in this journey of The Four Seasons group of friends who became some dear friends as we get such a glimpse into their lives and loves. A wonderful and truly filling experience Ms Woods, I am definitely advising any reader sit with some tissues at hand for there are some moments that get you and get you good.
“Love’s not just about saying it. It’s about showing it.” - Aaron
Birdie, aka Bridget, Hitchcock was ready to marry her long time on/off boyfriend, Mal, when he decides right before they are to exchange vows that he can’t do it. Birdie has always been the good girl and always taken him back. But this was the final straw for her and she takes off in her wedding gown down to the quay. While she is standing there at the quay in the rain, Aaron Reed and his delightful son, Mat, pass by and being a gentleman, he and Mat rescue her by taking her back to their hotel room to give her a chance to dry off and figure out what she wants to do next.
Aaron is dealing with his own issues with his ex-wife who wants to take their son back to her home land of Spain. While he is perfectly happy with his life as a vet up on North Island, Aaron wants to do what is best for Mat even if that means moving to Wellington. Even while trying to figure out what she wants, Birdie and Aaron have a connection. Aaron, ever the gentleman, doesn't want to take advantage of Birdie’s mixed feelings immediately following being stood up but he hopes to be able to get to know her better. He invites her to spend some time up in Northland after she decides that she is going to take the time she had planned for her honeymoon exploring the North Island.
Birdie ends up visiting Aaron and falling in love not just with Northland but Aaron. Both have been in relationships before that ended badly but they decide to take the time to explore their feelings and see where it leads them.
This is a quick paced book with very well developed characters. This is book 4 in the Four Seasons series. Each book can be read as a stand alone or out of order. Reading all of the books in order though does allow you to discover the wonderful characters and landscape of friends and their falling in love.
I did receive a free advanced reader copy of this novel in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. Not that I would not have purchased this book anyway since Ms. Woods always writes a fun read.
Persuading Spring is the 4th and final book in The Four Seasons Series. Each book focuses on one of four girlfriends from New Zealand who all went to university together and later started a very successful lingerie business of the same name. Each girl represents a season either by name or personality. This book focuses on Bridget “Birdie” Hitchcock and what happens to her after she is jilted at the altar and meets a very nice guy named Aaron Reed and his young son Mateo. While everyone else is watching a distraught Bridget look as if she is going to jump into the water, Aaron jumps into action and talks her off the ledge and convinces her to spend the afternoon in the hotel room with him and his son. They soon find that they both had been in one-sided relationships that ended up in heartbreak and pain. Aaron invites Bridget to visit him at his island home for a few days and she does something completely out of character and agrees.
I loved everything about this story. It appeared to be a lot more reflective than the other 3 books. And, there was definitely a whole lot more sex. Since it’s the last book, I felt like Serenity Woods decided to go all out with the sexy time. At one point, I felt like I was reading from the pages of Playboy, and that’s not a bad thing. Aaron and Bridget held nothing back. They also were willing to give into each other emotionally even though everyone else was concerned that their fling would end in tragedy. They went into everything with all eyes open and took the time to evaluate their feelings along the way. I felt that Serenity portrayed everyone in an honest and refreshing way. I was also relieved that their relationship wasn’t totally treated like a fairytale. There was definitely a happy ending but legitimate time did pass before the happy conclusion. More importantly, everything for all of the Four Season girls was wrapped up in a nice bow.
**Received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest unbiased opinion.**
Different and satisfying ending to a sweet series.
As we finish the the series with Bridget "Birdie" and Aaron, I enjoyed having a completely different situation than the rest of the books. After being jilted at the alter, Birdie runs, literally, out into the rain with nothing more than her wedding dress. Aaron and his young son, Mat, spot her alone in the pouring rain on the way back to their hotel. Kindhearted Aaron worries about leaving her alone and invites her back to the hotel to warm up and wait out her next move.
When the shock of her situation wears off, Bridget and Aaron both feel a bit of something, but are unsure how to proceed in this sticky situation. When Bridget says she still plans to take her intended honeymoon time, but as a solo trip, Aaron suggests she visit his town in the northland. There are no promises, just the pull they both feel about seeing what happens between them.
It was nice to have a couple with no history (like our Autumn and Winter gals), nor life-threatening worries (for our Summer-themed novel). While this is a bit of a whirlwind romance, I enjoyed how both Aaron and Bridget considered the realities of their situation, with Bridge newly single, Aaron divorcing his wife and trying to keep her from leaving the country with their son, not to mention a long distance relationship. I definitely felt their desire to make it work, but not push so hard to break them apart.
We haven't seen a lot of Bridge in the previous books, so I had to take everyone's word for it that she was the responsible "good girl" who was somewhat itching to settle down. There was a lot of growing up for her after the ruined wedding, but it felt natural and enjoyable to follow her down her new path.
I received a free copy of "Persuading Spring" in exchange for an honest review.
I love Serenity Woods' books, and this is my favorite series of hers so far; all 4 books and every hero and heroine are superb. This fourth book in the series is really cozy and wonderful. It mostly takes place in the Bay of Islands in the Northland of New Zealand. Serenity makes this area sound so beautiful in her books that I really want to visit.
The couple in this book has had a really rough time in each of their previous long term relationships. Bridget had dated Mal for many years but did not realize how much he did not appreciate her until he jilts her, never showing up at the wedding. Aaron is a really good-hearted veterinarian who is going through a custody battle with his ex-wife who wants to leave the country with their adorable young son Mateo. Aaron and Mateo find Bridget shivering in her wedding dress in the rain looking at the ocean, and they are kind to her. I love how Bridget and Aaron meet, and they are so perfect for each other. The relationship progresses so beautifully. They both have been hurt before, but they bravely open themselves up and tell each other about their growing feelings.
Aaron is also wonderful because he is such a dog-lover. He has two adorable rescue dogs, and he is so caring to the dogs that he heals at his veterinary practice. One time, Aaron was cuddling and singing to a dog who just came out of surgery, and an old woman in the waiting room said, "Oh, Aaron, you are going to make me swoon." There are a lot of places in this novel that make me smile like this line does. The whole book is so sweet and cozy yet has some intensely intimate love scenes. If you like contemporary romance, you have to read this book!
I received this book for free in return for an honest review.
What can I say? This is a lovely story, the entire series has been delightful to read. Four friends, all as different as chalk and cheese, who set up a successful lingerie business together, known as The Four Seasons. Each of the girls represents a season. This is Bridget's story, known as Birdie, and she represents Spring. The book starts with her getting ready for her wedding to Mal at last. However, Mal doesn't show up, and Bridie runs off in distress, in the teeming rain. Aaron and his son Mateo are going to a cafe, and see her standing on the edge of the quay, looking as though she is about to leap into the water, and Aaron, a small town vet, is concerned about her and he and his son go to see if they can help her. She ends up going back to their hotel room with them. Aaron is divorced, and comes to Wellington every other weekend to spend time with his son. A tentative friendship begins. It is very touching, very real, very warm. Serenity writes real people very well, you can feel the emotion flowing from the page. The both have issues to sort out in their lives, and these are written about in a very sensitive, empathetic way. A few scenes had me wiping my eyes. The whole series is worth reading, the books work best reading in sequence, but all could be read stand alone. And I have very much enjoyed the descriptions of and sense of New Zealand. It sound a very lovely place. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, the thoughts expressed are entirely my own.
Aaron Reed and his son Mat are walking in a downpour when Mat sees a woman dressed in a wedding gown contemplating water in the harbor. What should they do – try to help or walk on by? And, Bridget “Birdie” Hitchcock is not sure what to do when asked by them if she needs help. Seeing warmth and kindness in Aaron’s eyes she trustingly follows him and his son to a hotel room, warms up and realizes her life has changed in a moment but that moment might be the making of a better future for her. She decides to take some time for herself, travel a bit and then stop in to see Aaron up north in Russell where he has his veterinarian practice. Perhaps it will just be a thankyou but perhaps it can be more.
Aaron and Bridget have both experienced the destruction of dreams for their future. Both are open, honest, caring people. Both feel an attraction to one another. Both realize it is much too soon to be in love. But they also both realize that it would be a crime not to explore what they are feeling.
I loved this book! I liked the fact that Bridget and Aaron were willing to take the time to explore the potential for a relationship. I loved that there was not some major drama to pull them apart. I enjoyed seeing their friendship grow and become all that it could be. Though a sweet and perhaps simple love story it also discussed the issue of divorce, custody, bullying in school, friendship and a great deal more.
Thank you to the author for the copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
