Daddy Takes the Reins

Rate this book
When she lands a job as an apprentice jockey at a racing stable, Bianca is determined not to let her Tourette’s Syndrome interfere with her dream career, and she does her best to conceal her occasional tics from her ridiculously handsome new boss. But Clay Lewis is not an easy man to fool. He soon discovers her secret, and when he casually mentions that she ought to be spanked for her deception it sets Bianca’s heart racing like nothing ever has before.

Her crush on Clay grows stronger by the day, but while she strives to impress him at work Bianca struggles to deal with tragic circumstances in her own life. With her younger sister—and lifelong best friend—incapacitated by terminal cancer and becoming more and more dependent on her, she finds herself pushing herself to the point of skipping meals and going without sleep.

Clay can see the toll that stress is taking on Bianca, and when she collapses from exhaustion at the stable he knows it is time for him to step in, but not as a boss or as a boyfriend. What she needs is a loving daddy who will both comfort her when she is sad and bare her bottom and spank her like a naughty little girl when she doesn’t take care of herself properly.

Bianca delights in the attention she receives from Clay, and when he takes her in his arms and claims her as his own it brings her more pleasure than she would have ever thought possible, but she cannot help wondering if he will stay by her side even when her tics are at their worst. Can she truly trust Clay enough to surrender her heart to him and let her daddy take the reins?

NO DOUBT THE UNIVERSE IS UNFOLDING AS IT SHOULD…

Now and then you read a story that grabs hold of you and won’t let you go from the beginning to the end. Ms. Dawson has penned a story that is an emotional roller coaster ride and kept the pages turning. Reading this tale made me a voyeur in the lives of Bianca, her sister, Annie, their childhood and dreams, along with Clay and his family at the racing stables, and a horse named Rose.

Bianca has a dream and strong determination to make it happen. She has a unique, gifted way of working with horses, and her dream is to become a jockey. When she lands the position working at the stables, she does not disclose that she has Tourette’s because she does not use medication, her belief is that it will not interfere with her job. Now to prove herself to the owners and be allowed to work with the horses is the next challenge.

Clay Lewis is leery but agrees to allow her to continue working when he discovers her Tourette’s, and she proves she can do the job. Then when an abused horse is brought to the stables, and he witnesses that only Bianca can handle her, he gains respect for her determination.

The plot of the story is extremely emotional, with Annie dying of cancer, another Jockey consistently trying to sabotage Bianca, a Daddy Dom/little girl relationship, with Bianca dealing with her Tourette’s and everyday life. The story is so well told that I could feel the emotions, envision the sights and sounds, and felt physical pain with the intensity of what Bianca was experiencing. A broken and abused horse, a bullied and damaged girl, and a dream to be achieved. “The broken-down horse and the messed up rider, with all the odds stacked against them. Could they overcome them? Or were they stupid to even try?”

The story also is a love story between Clay and Biana, as he tries to take care of her, nurture her, and make her feel safe and loved. “Let me take care of you. You’re safe, I promise you. You wanted to be a little kid again, to have someone take care of you, to be claimed and punished. Well, I’m claiming you. I’m taking care of you. I’ll be your daddy; you’ll be my little girl. I will take care of you.” “He was the perfect daddy, she thought—kind, caring, gentle, assertive, and dominant, with just enough softness thrown into the mix.”

The Tourette's Sydrome was handled well, but that was about it. This is not a real example of age-play. It's an example of three brothers using age-play as an excuse to spank someone - they don't employ any other aspects of the kink. They also all manage to take it too far at points. And the whole thing with Annie is desperately sad, but couple that with everything else and you just have a whole lot of drama and very little happiness. I do not feel this book was good enough for the premise, but I gave it two stars because the Tourette's really was handled well. But I had a very very hard time getting through this book. I really don't recommend it if I'm being honest.

A race to the finish line

This was my first time reading Kelly Dawson book and I am a new fan. This book is fantastic you will need a box of tissues. Bee has just got her dream job and is one step closer to becoming a riding jockey. But she is hiding one very important thing from her new boss. Bee also has to deal with the fact she is losing her sister. Ann is losing her battle with cancer but before she goes she wants to make sure Bee will be loved and taken care of. Clay has been watching Bee and when he see her Tic he thinks she is high. Bee tells him about her Tourette's he is not sure but he gives her a chance anyway. When Bee pass out at work Clay gives her what She needs a daddy to take care of her. Darren is a jerk and he will make you want to kick his butt. But Bee can handle him and she gets him good. The end is very sad I want tell you but I will say Bee dose what she sets out to do. If you ever wanted to try a cowboy romance this is the perfect one to start with. I highly recommend this book.

Abusive relationship

I really didn’t like this book! First off, it was pretty depressing that her sister was dying from cancer throughout the whole book. Not what I would want in a romance novel. And then the relationship with the couple was awful! He had no tolerance for her ticks and didn’t even take care of her when another staff member was obviously bullying her. I hate how she desperately fell back into his arms after he beat her when he was violently protesting. This book was obviously written by someone who just loves to write spanking scenes, but nothing else. There was no real depth to the relationship. I felt the dad was uncaring. I found that the age play was next to nothing in this book and it really seemed like the writer forced some snippets of her regression. The author just glossed over the age play by writing a sentence or two about her thumb sucking or coloring. Definitely not to be considered age play! If you are looking for a good daddy/babygirl romance where the story between them is sweet and romantic, then you need to find another book!

I think so many people can find something in the story to sympathize with, and if you don't you will be enlightened about other problems you might not have, such as Tourette's Syndrome. Bianca, the heroine of this story, has this disease and many life sorrows to handle also. A difficult childhood, a sister who is dying, as well as other things. She gives of herself until she has no more to give. But Clay, her boss, who is also falling for her, isn't happy that she wasn't honest with him at first, which could be important information since she is an apprentice jockey. He also isn't happy that she isn't taking care of herself because she is so committed to taking care of her sister, and whatever else she can do. He steps in, not as her boss, and not even really as a boyfriend, but as the daddy she has always needed. It is an engrossing story that keeps you caring and involved.

This book is excellent

Full of emotions it left me in tears at the end. There is loving discipline, love of a family but mostly three brother. The heroine is a fighter. She is sassy, witty and strong. She has love for a abused horse, they are both broken , love heals them both. Reading this books puts your emotions on a roller coaster. With tears at the end. This book is well worth the money

This is a very good book! Some parts are very emotional and really pull on your heartstrings, and I found the end to be bittersweet. The romance between Bianca and Clay is rocky at times, and doesn't come especially easy but it's a journey worth taking and I just loved the interaction between his brothers and Bianca. As I am a horse fanatic, I especially enjoyed the horse themed plot and loved Rose :) I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an Advanced Reader Copy.

I love a book that stays with you for a while. Some of the discipline books take the discipline too far. Loving discipline is so different. Some of us have challenges in our live but it seems that the heroine a really hard challenges. I had to finish this book when I started reading it. Couldn't put it down. Great story.

Best Read Ever

I practically cried through the whole book. A story and characters so near and dear to me. I am a survivor of abuse and as a horsewoman I have seen horses victimized by abuse. Have even owned a few and know how difficult it is to open up and trust again. Thank you Kelly for such inspirational people and horses who refuse to quit in the face of adversity; to find trust and love is the greatest prize of all.

Survival

Bianca has been run ragged trying to hold a job, care for her sick sister and conceal her turrets. Tired and at the end of her rope she meets Clay, the foreman at the stables she just got hired. He's tall, strong and handsome. She does everything she can to hide her ticks but is she successful? Can Clay help her with her turrets and her heart?

A challenged young woman, a troubled horse, a dying sister, and three of the hottest alphas possible make this a great book. I’d never read an age play before and didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. It is well-written and fast-paced with some characters I loved and one I hated.

Definitely a different kind of story. Not a bad story, but there were several things that seemed out of place. This story could have really benefited from an epilogue but overall it was a good read.

Bonds

The bonds sisters have. One with an undeniable tix and the other with death at the door step. Through in some manly men and chemistry. Then watch love bloom along with a red bottom.💘

Not my normal genre but Dawson could be changing that - I enjoyed this story
A complete story that definitely captured my heart- it had romance, a true antagonist, angst, some D/s as well as light age play - I will admit I even cried a couple times - not telling you, you have to read it :)
I did have a couple small issues with Clay's behavior - I think he needs a time out to step back and evaluate the situation before he sentences judgment
I liked Bianca and the fact that she was portrayed as strong yet still weak - yes she actually gets so stressed out about real problems she forgets to take time to care for herself leaving her physically and psychologically drained
Some real world problems solved with old world solutions
I did notice there is a book two with the characters- I am hoping is the epilog of Clay and Bianca but also maybe a story on one of the brothers? Guess I have to read it and find out :)

I applaud Kelly Dawson for including a character with Tourette’s Syndrome in a book. The way that Bianca showed Clay how difficult tic suppression is was very powerful. The overall message and tone of the story was great. There were a few very sexy moments and some very heartwarming ones as well.

I did have quite a few issues though. The main one being that the story tried to be too many things at once. There was talk about age play but other than some thumb sucking and a few daddy/uncle's thrown around we didn't see much. It was like a mix of DD, BDSM, and age play. Some stories can be like that but it didn't flow well with this one.

There was also the fact that Bianca has Tourette's, her sister is dying of cancer, dad is an alcoholic, mom ran off but is back now and being horrible, there is the abused horse, and an enemy at work. Plus you have Clay's brothers and them spanking her as well, it was just too much.

This book is well written and covers Tourette’s Disorder. I have had little experience with this disorder beyond sitting next to a sufferer at a child’s Christmas concert and a doctor’s waiting room. That women suffered from both tics and forced obscenities so as far as I know this syndrome is described fairly accurately. However there are elements that are clearly next to impossible such as the final horse race. I do not like stories about littles and there is some of that in this story. I didn’t give this five stars because the only ‘people’ I felt drawn to were Annie and Rose, the abused horse. I almost quit reading because for whatever reason it didn’t really hold my interest. I think I have read far too many light romance stories and they all begin to sound the same. It was interesting to read about a woman coping with Tourette’s and the story had mild elements of suspense as well. I think many people will really enjoy it.

A sad story that end with a HEA! Una storia triste che finisce con un lieto fine!
by Happy-Girl

This book is about the hard life of Bianca, a girl with the Tourette syndrome with a passion for horses, and Clay a dominant and hot cow-boy.
I think it's strange and remarkable that the author would talk about the difficulties of life and the Tourette syndrome in a book that is all spanking scenes and dominant men.

Good series opener

Bianca's working herself to the bone taking care of her ailing sister and working on the Lewis ranch. Clay is all too willing to share her burden, taking her into his heart and his bed. He'll be her tender daddy when she needs to regress and her dominant lover when she steps out of line. Steamy AF and a spanking good time.

Bianca has Tourette's Syndrome, which the author did a great job describing. I learned a lot about the condition and the difficulties that come with it. Darren was a consummate jerk. I'm glad he got his just desserts. Twice. Go Bee! Her bond with Rose is so sweet. Rose is Bee's animal soul mate.

A lot of feels throughout - sadness about Annie, anger at Darren, joy and anger with Clay and his brothers (they bust Bee's bottom too but take on a caretaker role), excitement on race day (I wanna visit the track!).

Book 1 of Lewis Stables Daddies series

Get your tissues ready for this emotional roller coaster. Bianca comes from a broken home and has been caring for her best friend/sister Annie, who is dying from Cancer. Bianca also has Tourette's Syndrome, which comes out when tired or stressed. She has learned that working with horses helps her problem.

Bianca is an apprentice jockey at Lewis Stables. She attracts the attention from the foreman Clay Lewis and discovers that he and his brothers Luke and Cody are all spankos like her. Clay also connects with her desire to be a Little Girl with a Daddy.

The romance is tender as Clay takes control and falls in love with Bianca. All of the Lewis brothers watch over her, but Clay is the only one with romantic desires and committment.

Could not put this one down.

TEAR JERKER

Clay and Bianca are 2 stubborn ppl. Story brings out the misconceptions of Tourette and the suffering of cancer patients and the ppl who love them. Obama's love for her sister Annie, who is in the final stages of cancer, is unconditional. The love of Clay for Bianca, and giving her what needs and finally understanding her tourettes, is also unconditional. Beautiful story. The sex is good too!

This was a serialized read that I got a couple of chapters a week from a email newsletter from the publication company. It was free so I figured I would read it. I liked the fact that Bianca wanted to be a jockey so it had horses in it. I'm not a fan of the whole him being her daddy thing, but overall it was a pretty good book.

One of the best books

Forgive me as I am still crying as I write this. Clay and biacina book is a emotional roller coaster.
Not just because of their relationship. The whole story. With her sister Annie and Rose the horse. The fire and the asshole that started it.
Yes I am still crying. I am a big baby myself.
