Lance Barrington’s priority is business, not pleasure. Only one woman has ever been able to turn him inside out: Willa Chambers, his sister’s best friend. Forbidden. Scandalous. Unforgettable.
They’ve spent the last ten years trying to forget one night.
When Willa and Lance are thrown together again, things heat up fast. Loving him almost destroyed her the first time.
Ruth Cardello hit the NYTs and USA Today for the first time back in 2012. Millions of sales are evidence that her books are akin to potato chips, addictive from the first one. She has created a multi-series billionaire world with a combination of escapism and realism that has gained her a faithful following of readers.
What Kindle Reviewers write about her:
"Wow hot at every page. Heart stoping, fear raging, mind blowing wonderful."
"I'm a true fan of Ms. Cardello. I ran on to her first book a few years back and have been hooked ever since. I could go on and on about the story like of this book, but I'm not. All of her books are total page turners, unique, heart wrenching, and I love them all. There isn't two alike in the bunch and I feel like i know the characters personally. I personally read 97 authors books. And I buy every book they put out. This author is in my top 10. Great job and keep them coming."
"Love this series. Got me to start reading again. I look forward to the next book. Thank you for giving me the love of reading back."
Ruth Cardello was born the youngest of 11 children in a small city in northern Rhode Island. She spent her young adult years moving as far away as she could from her large extended family. She lived in Boston, Paris, Orlando, New York--then came full circle and moved back to New England. She now happily lives one town over from the one she was born in. For her, family trumped the warmer weather and international scene.
She was an educator for 20 years, the last 11 as a kindergarten teacher. When her school district began cutting jobs, Ruth turned a serious eye toward her second love- writing and has never been happier. When she's not writing, you can find her chasing her children around her small farm or connecting with her readers online.

Another great read by Ruth Cardello with this book...I’m so interested in just what Patrice did. I have some thoughts on what it might have been but I’m going to keep my thoughts close to my chest for the moment until I get a little more information.
I must say though that Clay kind of stole the book in the few parts he was in in this. I’m looking forward to reading his novella with Lexi next. I did expected Lance to be more distraught about the miscarriage than he was but that was me looking for a little drama in the end. It didn’t need it but it was something that was highly likely to happen so having it not happen was kind of shocking.
I think everyone mistakes Sophie as being weak, and vulnerable when she is NOT at all. She is stronger than any of them even realize and I think it will come out soon as to just how strong she really is.
I finally gave up at the 75% point, just about angst-ed to death. Our H and h have reunited after 10 years apart. She loves him, and always has. He loves her, and always has. Now begins the ‘angst’ for no reason beyond the sake of ‘angst’. And it just doesn’t end. Lies, secrets, misunderstandings, distrust, fear, jealousy, if it’s ‘angst’, and you can imagine it, you’ll probably find it here. Everything but the Russian mafia has come up. But in fairness, I may have stopped reading before we got to that particular angst. I’m not sure. I just wanted a simple romance. This is definitely not that. And it’s not something I would recommend.
I like this story because it's not one of those fast developing romance. In fact, this one has history. A past that was hunting both the characters. I like how the characters develop throughout the story and how they faced the hurdle between them. I also like how Willa's friends stood up for her even without her spilling everything.
I also like how the characters get to know not only each other but only their own self throughout the process. I'm just a little hung and wanting to unravel the mystery around the family. Hopefully the next books will give justice to all of that mystery. I'm looking forward to the next one.
The story was alright. Although I have not read the other stories in this series and just read this as a stand alone, I think the author could have handled the twin sister trope and second chance romance far better. There was definitely space for improvement which the author lost. I particularly did not like the style of narration as it was very loose and the plot became unbelievable at times.
There were several typos and spelling mistakes and other errors which was a consequence of poor editorial quality.
Overall a 2 star rating from my end. I do not believe I would read any of the other stories in the series, because it failed to intrigue me completely.
Willa and twin sister were an adopted part of the Barrington family, due to their school days friendship with Kenzi. As such they were out of bounds to the brothers. However, an attraction is often very hard to deny... It off course didn't end well, and two concerned kept their distance. Or, more correctly, one gave the cold shoulder, whilst the other would have loved to break down the battlements. This is a sister trying give her sibling a second chance, but it may take the whole family to succeed for a HEA. Oh, I do so love Ms Cardello works!
Actually found this boring. Didn't really hold my interest too much to be honest. And truthfully, at this point the only reason I'm continuing the series is to find out what happened with their aunt and Kenzie's twin.
Update: Fuck me standing...there are going to be 7 books in total?! Please let the rest be better. I really just want to know what happened with the aunt and twin.
Ruth Cardello tells a good story and I like the characters but the crude language she uses to describe the intimacy between her characters was very unnecessary. I like a romance that leaves something to the imagination. I would like to see what happens to the rest of the family but I don't think I can stomach the crude language and descriptions!
The H in this one was an idiot. And I was hoping the h wouldn't forgive him at the end. And doing so, so easily, after finally admitting her 'secret' to him, and his treatment of her, was unfulfilling. And, a really big let down.
Painful pasts and untold secrets in this second chance romance
Book 3 of the Barrington Billionaires and things are starting to get interesting with the ongoing story involving their Aunt Patrice’s journal. If you haven’t read the previous two books… you need to before you go any further. I would also recommend that you read the two fore-runner series (The Legacy Collection and The Andrade’s)… probably before you start this series as it builds and builds into a much larger saga. And it’s brilliant.
This story follows the youngest Barrington brother, Lance. He’s less serious than his older brothers, Asher, Ian and Grant but he’s still a man who takes his responsibilities seriously. An accomplished architect with a solid reputation, Lance is successful in everything except love. Ever since he lost the one person who he had wanted due to a huge misunderstanding, he’s never found anyone who has filled his heart and his head the way the Willa Chambers did. He doubted he’d find anyone who ever would… especially when she’s never been completely out of his life since the day their short love affair ended.
Everyday, Willa Chambers has lived with the hurt from the day Lance Barrington broke her heart. Lance being her best friends brother didn’t help, because their paths continued to cross for the next ten years. She had loved him. She’d given herself to him… and he failed her in so many ways.
The trouble is, everyone around the ‘should-be’ couple knows that they need to get over whatever happened and be together… but no one except Willa knows the full extent of the pain and devastation that was caused. Not even her twin sister, Lexi.
Adamant she can’t forget what happened between them 10 years ago, Willa vows not to give in to Lance’s persistent requests to rekindle what they had… but when the truth comes out that maybe Lance wasn’t completely at fault that day - Willa starts to wonder if she’s been too harsh on Lance. She does still love him… but the hurt is still there. Can she overlook what happened enough to forgive him and give him another chance?
Lance knows he has a lot to prove but he’s willing to go to whatever lengths he needs to in order to win her back.
However, there’s a secret that keeps Willa from completely giving herself over to the hope of moving on. She can’t take another loss… and losing Lance again would only add to that devastation. But is she willing to deny herself her happy ending for the fear of losing him?
This story takes a long time to get going. And there’s a lot of will-they-won’t-they tooing and fro-ing before they finally get it together. When they do come together it’s passionate and explosive and every bit as loving as we hope they will be - but of course nothing ever goes completely to plan.
The other ongoing story is around the Barrington’s evil Aunt Patrice’s journal that has landed in the hands of the Barrington family. The more they read, the more suspicions start to arise, particularly with the undercover arrival of Alethea Stone… Dominic Corisi’s highly successful secret agent (The Legacy Collection and Andrade series). When she eludes to their being a more sinister story lurking in the missing parts of the journal, everything they thought to be true, could have been a complete lie. Just what will Lance and his brothers discover in Aruba? I cannot wait to find out!
2.5 stars. I believe you need to have read the previous books to understand Lance’s thinking/beliefs. I will say Willa wasn’t acting that grown up either. Unable to keep a job, not knowing what she wanted, flitting through life. Her hot cold behaviour and thinking towards Lance. Yes there were upsetting actions from over ten years ago, but talk, scream, shout it out then move on. Might have helped Lance grow up too if they'd talked years before. At times I felt this was too whiny from the three characters involved, Lance, Willa & her twin Lexi, and she was involved. The twin sister’s relationship always felt off kilter and resolved too easily. I’m not sure I’d forgive my twin sister for lying to me, cancelling my date, and then purposely hitting on the man I was interested in. Lance needed to grow up and stop being a cowardly man child. His family dynamics were strange, but due to very understandable circumstances. The pregnancy/miscarriage felt unneeded to me. I did enjoy the unravelling of the journal though, intriguing, but I believe I know where it will be leading. I read this book back in 2018, but all my amazon reviews were taken down. Reread in the box set through KU.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standaloneish Part of a Series?: Yes POV: Lance and Willa ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Willa - Part of a twin Lance - Architect ---------------------------------- What happens? Lance and Willa have a romance from when they were teenagers or young adults. Lance treated Willa pretty badly because he was scared of his own feelings. Willa is scared she is going to be hurt after his betrayal last time. So avoids contact when ever possible. Much to her twins annoyance. Said twin decides to intervene again and pushes them back together again to force the issue that they love each other. Also sub plot which moves at a snails pace of dead bitter auntie's journal. Final thoughts The sub plot is interesting but its frustrating because it seems to move at a snails pace. Would I read again?: Yes Would I read this author again?: Yes
A youthful sexual encounter between Lance and Willa has led to a decade of sorrow, recriminations and missed opportunities. Try as she may, Willa is unable to keep Lance at arm's length. It seems the world or at least his family is determined to throw them together. Lance wants to rectify all his mistakes from 10 years ago but he seems to keep repeating history. Willa has closed herself off and made herself a victim for so long that she finally realizes in order to move on with her life she needs to quit being a coward. Although Lance is determined to make Willa his own he's just not sure he knows what love is. When Willow tries to tell him the truth about her deeply buried secret, Lance is afraid history is repeating itself. He finally acknowledges that he truly loves Willa and sets about to convince her to marry him. It's not an easy road to travel but he's determined to be successful.
Another good book in this series, all the Barrington brothers are hot and successful in their own way but can be a bit dumb when it comes to relationships and Lance is no exception, he has been attracted to Willa one of his sister's best friends and twin sister to Lexi for years but hurt her badly emotionally when she was just eighteen. Willa has been through a lot and is angry with him over their past issues but these two can't stay apart and 10 years after their first disaster true love blooms. It's a good romance story with a lot of difficult emotional issues in the background. There is also a story from the family's past that is simmering in the background.
Willa seemed to me a little mentally unbalanced. Her twin Lexie, an abusive personality who keeps Willa from getting 100% well. Willa has held a grudge against Lance for 10 years. They had one night of passion which Willa interpreted as love and Lance as affection. The next day her sister Lexie met with Lance passing herself off as Willa. When Lance kissed Lexie he knew it was not Willa and thought the twins played a sick joke on him. Willa didn't know Lexie did this and when she found out Lance was confronting her with betrayal. They had not communicated since, but Lance was on a path to win Willa's heart and nothing will stop him.
Movie sequels usually get boring by number 3 but this book series keeps getting better! Each member of the family has depth and the author keeps weaving in the parents as a loving and wise couple who only wants to see their children happy and well loved. Lance and Willa's story has passion and pain. Can they find their way back to each other? What a ride!
This book is Trade It All, book 3 of The Barrington Billionaires series, written by Ruth Cardello. Lance Barrington is a successful architect but has a history that he can’t leave behind. Willa is his sisters best friend and should never have been in his bed. What do you do when one night from ten years prior continues to derail you? Do you move on? Do you look for an answer? And what was Aunt Patrice hiding in her journal? I can’t wait to find out!!
A great read. Another book in the Barrington series. I loved Lance's story because his humor and personality is delightful. But Willa who I like in the previous book got on my last nerve in this book. That being said they fit each other perfectly. But secrets and the past come back. Filled with angst and drama but heartwarming at times. A very cool family. Onto the next book.
Lance and Willa were so easy to follow in their journey of love... Ruth Cardello you have such a talent of making your readers fall in love with every character you create... you make me laugh and cry .. I think I cry more with laughter... I can't wait to read about the path the other brothers travel to discover love ... and of course what the evil the bitch Patrice has spawned ... 3 Barrington down 3 to go , or maybe 4 ??? We will see...
3,5 stars for this sweet read I had trouble putting down. I wanted to get to the mushy ending I love even though the speed of it in the relationship isn’t realistic at all.
I love this family and I feel like I’m going to read this entire series back to back. LOL
There’s a side plot about a diary that started in the epilogue of the previous book and played a minor role in this book. It’ll be continued in the next. Until now this failed to hold my attention.
Barrington Billionaires book 3, Lance Barrington is wealthy and has been in love with one of his sister’s best friends since they were teens. Willa Chambers is struggling both financially and emotionally, and she is in love with her best friend’s brother. Ten years later, will they continue to fight their attraction? Typical fairytale romance but enjoyable, mindless read. I got this book on Kindle as part of set of Ruth Cardello books.
Willa and Lance have always had a crush on each other, ten years later and the passion is still there. Will Willa and Lance be able to forgive and forget there abrupt past or will the passion sizzle uncontrollably. This was such a good storyline with the suspense, the family learning to overcome obstacles
I loved this book and each one in this series so far. I felt for Willa as she’s loved Lance but he hurt her in the past. When will he realize he loves her? I cried over her heartbreak and why she was mad at Lance. I loved his grand gesture towards the end and really loved the ending. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next one.
The Barrington Saga continues with Lance and Willa’s path to love. We meet up again with all the siblings and their foibles and learn more of their past. Each of these books are stand alone but you will derive far more pleasure from them if you start at Book 1 and go from there. Another 5 Stars from me and I am off to enjoy Book 4..........
I truly am enjoying this series, although I read it out of order. My only negative is each story feels like a part is missing. In this instance, an important gathering included Cupid (Allessando) but proof. Next scene. I was hoping to hear his "wisdom". Same for some of the other stories. I absolutely love this series but want more lol
Willa has loved Lance for more than 10 years but can they overcome issues from when they were younger now that they are older. So much history between these two brings a sense of rightness to the real until miscommunication comes between them again. Can Willa and Lance open the lines of communication and find their happily ever after?
These truly are great stories. I know some people don't like reading millionaire and billionaire novels but these are unlike most. They don't flaunt their money like most characters in other novels, these guys have issues but that's part of the story. There were mistakes in sentences along the way.
