One of the hardest parts of nursing is learning to understand lab values and what they mean. Most books and guides give excessive detail that drowns out the most important aspects. Although much of this information can be useful at certain times, it often isn't needed on a day to day basis.
In this book, you will be able to get right to the point of the most common labs you'll see as a medical professional. It is not meant to be comprehensive, but rather a focus on the most relevant information.
Each lab includes the quick bullet points (Purpose, Normal Values, and factors that would cause an increase or decrease). This is followed by a brief description covering the main issues and what to look for. Also included is a mnemonic to help you remember an important aspect of the lab.
Nursing is hard enough as it is, and time is precious. Spend that time focusing on the things you need to know, rather than the things you may see "someday."
