Nina works in the advertising department of Blaners - a gigantic New York store. Julien is a buyer. Warmly, but accurately, this book capture the pain and the pleasure of a young girl in love with and older man, who isn't free to marry her. Their holiday together gives her hope. But the cold reality of a new York winter brings back apprehension.
So, I read a different book by this same author called, “Girls’ Rules”. It was published in 1968 and does not appear in the Goodreads Library. The book was about two High School acquaintances who grow up, go off to college and then bump into each other in Manhattan, on Fifth Avenue several years later. Marina’s story is much more interesting than Celia’s. And it takes forever for them to share a page. So, all in all, not a favorite.
