స్వీట్ హోమ్ నవల మొదటి భాగం 1967లోనూ, రెండవ భాగం 1968లోనూ, మూడవ భాగం 1999లోనూ వెలువడ్డాయి. 2004లో ఈ మూడు భాగాలూ కలిపి ఒకే సంపుటంగా వెలువడింది.

ఈ నవల విమల, బుచ్చిబాబు అనే భార్యభర్తల కథ. బుచ్చిబాబుకి, 'భర్త స్వభావం' లేదు. భార్య మీద పెత్తనాలు చెయ్యడం, ఆధిక్యత కోసం తహతహలాడడం చెయ్యడు. విమలకి కూడా 'భార్య స్వభావం' లేదు. భర్త ముందు పిరికిగా, జంకుగా లొంగుబాటుగా ప్రవర్తించదు. ఇద్దరూ చనువుగా, స్నేహంగా ఉంటారు.

కొంతమంది మనుషులు తెలియకే తప్పులు చేస్తారు. తప్పు చేసినట్టు తెలుసుకోగానే దాన్ని సరిజేసుకోడానికి తహతహలాడుతారు. విమలా బుచ్చిబాబు అలాంటి వాళ్ళే. మరి వీరి కథ చదువుకోడం, వీళ్ళని తెలుసుకోడం పాఠకులకు ఆసక్తిగా ఉండదూ?

సంసారంలో కలకాలం కలసిమెలసి సాగేందుకు, నిండైన జీవితం గడిపేందుకు భార్యభర్తలు ఎలా నడుచుకోవాలో సూచించే కథ ఇది. కథ హాస్యంగా సాగుతూనే, భార్యభర్తలు ఒకరితో ఒకరు ఎలా మెలగాలో, పిల్లలతో ఎలా ప్రవర్తించాలో చెబుతుంది.

ఒక ఇల్లు నిజంగానే స్వీట్ హోమ్ అవ్వాలంటే, స్త్రీ పురుషులిద్దరూ చాలా జ్ఞానవంతులై వుండాలి, మంచి చెడ్డల విచక్షణ గల వాళ్ళై వుండాలని అంటారు రచయిత్రి.

రంగనాయకమ్మ సుప్రసిద్ధ మార్కిస్టు, స్త్రీవాద రచయిత్రి. ఈమె రచనల్లో రామాయణాన్ని మార్క్సిస్టు దృక్పధంతో విమర్శిస్తూ రాసిన రామాయణ విషవృక్షం ఒకటి. స్త్రీవాద రచయిత కావడం వల్ల 'పురుష వ్యతిరేకి'గానూ, రామాయణ విషవృక్షం రాయడం వల్ల 'బ్రాహ్మణ వ్యతిరేకి' గానూ ఈమెకి పేరు.

రంగనాయకమ్మ, పశ్చిమ గోదావరి జిల్లా బొమ్మిడి గ్రామములో 1939లో జన్మించారు. ఈమె తాడేపల్లిగూడెంలో ఉన్నత పాఠశాలలో చదివి 1955లో ఎస్.ఎస్.ఎల్.సీ ఉత్తీర్ణురాలయ్యారు. ఈమె తల్లితండ్రులు ఉన్నత చదువులకొరకు దూరప్రాంతములోని కళాశాలకు పంపించి చదివించలేని కారణముగా ఈమె విద్యాభ్యాసము అంతటితో ఆగిపోయింది.

రంగనాయకమ్మ 1958లో సాంప్రదాయకముగా పెద్దలు కుదిర్చిన పెళ్లి చేసుకొన్నారు. కానీ విరుద్ధ భావాలతో కొనసాగలేక 1970లో ఆ వివాహము నుండి బయటపడ్డారు. అప్పటి నుండి తన కంటే వయసులో పది సంవత్సరాలు చిన్నవాడు, తన అభిమాని, పాఠకుడు అయిన బీ.ఆర్.బాపూజీ (అలియాస్ గాంధీ) తో కలసి నివసిస్తున్నారు.

తన మొదటి రచనల్లో తండ్రి ఇంటి పేరుతో 'దద్దనాల' రంగనాయకమ్మగా పాఠకులకి పరిచయం. 1958 నుంచి 1970 మధ్య కాలంలో 'ముప్పాళ' రంగనాయకమ్మగా పరిచయం. మొదటి వివాహం నుంచీ బయటపడిన తరువాత తన పేరు నుంచీ 'ముప్పాళ' తీసేసి కేవలం 'రంగనాయకమ్మ'గా పరిచయం.

By the end of the book, if you are a rational and sensible person, you will want your marrie lives to be like vimala and Buchi Babu. Especially Vimala has been portrayed so real in a strong woman character who exemplifies the thinking modern woman. Can't belive this book is written in the 70s and 90s. All the progressive thoughts which we think are found in today's worlds of Twitter Nd. Feminist movements, have already been so eloquently put in the past. This is what happens when we don't have enough reading habits and always focus just on jobs and salaries and green cards. No wonder telugu middle class households are in degenerating state with no place for some literature with everyone occupied with the non sense on telugu YouTube channels. This book and kallu teriichina seetha can be mandatory reads for young PPL before and after marriage. Especially for young woman to aspire to me vimala in their own way. It doendt mean just a working woman but a thinking woman who can still defend her individuality in family life and this make it a sweet home. She tears apart the blind devotion and madness about the glorification of the past and ancient Indian values without scrutiny.

An amazing book with day to day situations.
The lead roles are near to the personal life. The book is about how to convert a normal home to sweet one. Some of the revolutionary ideas are still applicable.
