Power A Clinical Approach by Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Ph.D., Senior Clinical Psychologist presents a lucid and tested program of hypnosis. It comprehensively deals with a large number of misconceptions towards hypnosis, based on the premise that the misconceptions and mystical expectations from hypnosis can be encountered in any class of people irrespective of educational and professional background. Through interacting with wide audience he identifies about 24 myths and presents a convincing rationale to dispel all these myths.
He traces the roots of hypnosis in ancient time and travels to the present by incorporating leading contributors to the field such as Franz Anton Mesmer, James Braid, Milton Erickson and many others. He also invited a chapter on the history of hypnosis in India. Dr. Rakesh presents a detailed account of several theories of hypnosis which readily impress upon the audience for the breadth of the hypnotic phenomena and diverse conceptualizations by proponents of various schools.
Power hypnosis program presents a number of empirical tests of suggestibility and encourages the readers to devise one’s own tests. A provision for integrated test for identifying dominant sense modality has been elucidated making it extremely easy for a reader to test one and all sense modalities for hypnotherapeutic work. Detailed instructions and scripts are provided for inducing hypnotic trance in a person. A motivated reader can grasp the scripts and learn how to induce a trance state quickly.
