Heavenly Marriage: Seven Vital Ingredients to Power Your Christian Marriage

Rate this book
"Finally a Christian Marriage Counseling Book that focuses on common sense!" Nancy Ryder After 14 years of marriage, I've learned a few Always lift the toilet seat and close it when you are finished… Always say you are sorry when you mess up… Complement your wife on a daily basis… Never forget the power of a good date… Keep God at the center of everything! While this list is not comprehensive, it certainly is a very good start for most marriages. When I wrote Heavenly Marriage, it was meant to be a sort of love letter to society. I have watched marriage deteriorate over the years into something that is virtually impossible to recognize. All of the tradition… All of the commitment… All of the dedication… It seems to be missing in the vast majority of relationships. Like the natural detective that I am, I began investigating the reasons for this. I have experienced and witnessed bad marriages up close and so I had great source material. With such a wonderful marriage now that has been heaven on earth from the beginning, I began to take note of the differences. Heavenly Marriage is the end result of these findings. I did not write this book intending for it to be a literary masterpiece. It is a spiritual book written from the heart, in simple language with simple ideas. It does follow biblical principles and I do feel as though God is the primary missing ingredient for most poor relationships. Whether you believe in God or not, I pray that you will give this book a fair shot. You might come out of it surprised! Thank you so much for considering Heavenly Marriage and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Excellent short read to help you be intentional about making your marriage the best it can be. I would recommend this book to all married couples whether married for a short time or long time. This book highlights God's vision for marriage and how we can make our marriage what God intended. The book highlights 7 key areas of focus: Commitment, Communication, Forgiveness, Faith, Awareness, Dedication, and Affection. To be honest, some of those 7 areas I expected while others I didn't but they all blend well together to make up the complete package of marriage.

I really liked the format of this book, where each chapter focuses on one of the 7 key areas which is then followed by practical tips for applying that concept into your marriage. Each chapter then ends with a prayer asking God's help in applying that concept to your life/marriage. Having been married almost 24 years myself, I found the actionable steps at the end of the chapter to be most helpful as most of the concepts were not new but too many times they are just that concepts which we have no idea how to actually do. And I can say that I picked up some ideas to help take my marriage to the next level with God. Ideally, this book should be read together and discussed as a couple, but with that being said, even if one of you read it and begin applying it, you will have gained much ground in your marriage. I would suggest that the couples read a chapter a week and seek to live that concept out, to give it time to really mesh. But as I said at the beginning this is a short read, so it could be read in one sitting and then you could pull out some of the actionable steps to work on. So get your copy and prepare to be more intentional about your marriage, and making it all God intended.
