Carter “Wheels” Ellis is handsome, strong, funny, and kind—and he owns an adorable Capuchin monkey named Ollie. He’s a good catch by any standard, but women have never considered him as a serious beau since he’s a paraplegic. They don’t see past his wheelchair to the man inside, and he's accepted that he’ll most likely never find a wife.
However, there is one woman who is determined to prove him wrong. Nora Guthrie, his best friends, Brock and Aaron Guthrie’s little sister, has strong feelings for Wheels. She appreciates all of his fine qualities and admires his bravery and intelligence. He also makes her heart beat faster whenever she’s near him and she dreams of a life with him.
After a friend points out Nora’s feelings for him, Wheels is amazed that Nora is attracted to him. They've been friends for several years, but are they romantically compatible? There’s only one way to find out. A risk taker at heart, Wheels invites Nora to dinner and they embark on a romantic journey together.
Mayor Carly Branson can’t get the man she both despises and desires out of her head. Ray Stratton is conceited, cocky, and the kind of man no woman can resist. Too handsome for words, he draws every woman’s eye—which comes in handy in his profession as a hustler.
Ray can’t stand Carly, either, finding her snobbish and judgmental, yet utterly beautiful and captivating. The sparks that fly between these two could light up the night sky and they’re drawn to one another despite their mutual hate. Or could it be love?
Four people come to important crossroads in their lives. Will they travel down the right path that leads to happiness or will they take a wrong turn and end up lonely and heartbroken?
Writing has been a passion of mine since I was in high school. I attended Full Sail University, where I honed my craft. I live in Pennsylvania and I’m an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I enjoy singing and performing in theatrical endeavors when I’m not writing.
I'm currently writing two series: The Chance City Series (Sensual Western Historical Romance) and The Paha Sapa Saga (Sensual Native American Romance). I have other projects coming this year and I'll keep you up-to-date on them.
My stories are sensual, but although my love scenes are spicy, they aren't overly graphic. I no longer have sweet versions of my books available. Sorry for any inconvenience that causes. Regarding the way I use POV: I'm a former script writer and I write my books as though they are a TV episode or a play. You'll "see" each character's reaction to other characters or whatever is going on in the story.
Although each of my books includes a complete HEA and can be read as a stand alone, it's best to read them in order since I have an ensemble "cast", with characters from earlier books appearing in each of the books as each of the series continues.

How do I even start to describe this series? In a word, it’s ‘original’, refreshingly so. This author has a way of portraying the least likely of heroes as sexy, masculine and oh so desirable. I’ve read a lot of historical, western romances but never have I stumbled across a series with a cast of characters that included a male prostitute who dreams of opening a bakery, a man confined to a wheelchair with a spirited monkey for a companion, a Comanche detective who relies on a Pug to assist in his investigations, a female deputy and mayor, and more! And the storyline is so straightforward. It’s not dependent on the usual plot formulas although my favorite elements form this genre are also included ... a mail order bride, cattle ranches, men reaching for love with women far above their stations, Indians living in the white man’s world, saloons and brothels too.
I eagerly await Audible to release the next installment as soon I finish the last. Each time I’m tempted to buy the Kindle format but I resist because I think Jay R. Smith is responsible for at least 50% of the series appeal. As much as I love the storyline, I don’t think it would be nearly as entertaining without this narrator’s talented delivery of the dialogue and backstory.
Worth a credit? Most definitely Heat factor - some spice but nothing gratuitous and the scenes with ‘Wheels’, the paraplegic are sensitive and sexy.
Please hurry Audible with the next installment... there are so few titles like this - must we wait between releases?
I borrowed Crossroads from the Kindle Unlimited program.
Crossroads is two romances in one book with both couples facing challenges and crossroads in their relationships. Carter 'Wheels' finds love with a shy woman that can see the man beyond his wheelchair. They face challenges, dangers and find a way to communicate and accept each other.
Ray, the town hustler is the last person that Mayor Carly expected to find love with; she starts out despising him and she rubs him wrong too. Their courtship is rocky as they learn about the person beyond their public personalities and find a deep love through communication, acceptance and forgiveness.
Two loves stories, two great couples with lots of challenges makes Crossroads a wonderful story.
I didn't want to put it down. All of the couple's had different things to overcome. The author made it so hard to stop reading each night even when my eyes were so tired. It was a very enjoyable book.
Occasionally a story comes along that emphasizes the beautiful truth about what happiness can be found in letting go of the past and forgiving with your whole heart to walk a new path. Enjoy 👍👍👍💜
Oh, the sweet work of love! And how it changes people! Or does it just let their true character shine through? At any rate, it makes for a wonderful story! With just the right touch of adventure thrown I to make it interesting! Good read!
I just couldn’t get over a character in a wheelchair being known universally (like, that’s his character name) as “Wheels.” The time period was also confusing, and I don’t even think self-propelled wheelchairs were a thing until the 20th century.
A wonderful story about how love can overcome disabilities, past transgressions, and heal their hearts. Robin has the amazing ability to bring a wonderful cast of characters to life and I can't wait to see where this series takes us!
Amazing book so much depth. This was a double romance with mystery and intrigue added in. Robin Deeter has hit another homerun with this one. I read it all in one setting, I just couldn't put it down.
