It was well researched and stuff, but wow reading it was so boring.

The subtitle, Aesthetics without Tears for the Ballet-Lover, aptly describes the content. While short (a mere 80 pages not counting the index) Ambrose packs in a lot of information, from the difference between the physical attributes of dancers to definitions of classical and romantic ballets and then the effects of set design, costumes and make-up. For the seasoned ballet attender refresh your knowledge or for the person attending for the first time receive a well-rounded description of what to expect at your first professional performance.

When I was teaching jazz and tap, the owner of the studio wanted this book so badly.

It's wonderful. Then illustrations are beautiful. A great used bookstore find.
