It was a simple rescue mission…

He should have known with the women of Earth nothing is ever simple.

Banji of the Clan Tiaret was sent into enemy territory to find and rescue one Earth female. Things quickly fell apart thanks to the dark haired beauty with a naïve sense of justice.

For Maria Russo kidnapping was becoming a regular occurrence. Life had gone to hell since being taken from Earth. Fight or die, those were the only choices left.

Can an abused innocent find the strength to carry on? Or will the regrets and darkness destroy any chance of a future?

I wasn’t a fan of the first book in this series, but I did download all 3 books to begin with so I decided to stick it out. I will say the series does get better as it progresses. I can see this series having a lot of triggers for other reader. This world was not a women friendly place. Still, this series was available as a kindleunlimited and I'm glad I didn’t give up after the first book. It was never what I would consider a great read, but I think this writer has potential and I'll check out more of their work.

Wow.

This was a rather intense book.

The good:
Likable smart heroine
Lovable hero
An alien pet that helps save the day
Realistic consequences
A truly scary bad guy

The not so good:
Parts felt disjointed, like they didn't quite fit.
The ending, oh the ending. While it felt satisfying, it also felt a little forced. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it.
While the bad guys were truly horrid, some of their motivations remained murky. This could be because it has been quite a while since I read the first one.

Overall not boring.

Outstanding story!

I read the first book in this series and loved it. This story continues telling about one of the other captives and the sadistic, cruel torture she faced. Maria was a nurse when she was taken from earth planning her wedding to a man she thought she loved. After months of torture, medical experimentation, rape, and beatings she still refuses to give up.
Banji and his twin Akai are sent into enemy territory to check on rumors of an earth female and to rescue her if they find her. They are captured and Banjo is put in Maria's cell. Maria wants to rescue all the women in the prison, but but finally accepts Banjis promise to return when they have more men.
During the escape Banji and Akai are separated and Banji just barely escapes with Maria. They are almost caught and Maria's injuries become life threatening. When they finally reach safety and Maria is healed the two become mates and set out to find and rescue Akai and the other women.
The story is fast paced and held my interest all the way to the end. I am not fond of snakes ,but I'll make an exception for Cleo. She finds Maria in the desert and bonds to her saving her and Banji several times. She acted almost like a big guard dog only better. I am looking forward to the book ( hopefully Akai's story ) and also hope it comes out soon!

Really enjoyed it!!

I loved the first book so I was skeptical as to how good this book could be. I absolutely loved this story!! The story was rich and full of fully developed characters. The story had a lot of depth just like the first one. The heroine is a real survivor. She is abused and beaten and yet has an inner strength that is amazing to see. The hero was so adorable in the first book so I was glad that he was the "hero" in this one. You will love this book. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

I really loved the first book and the second one is even better than I expected. The same world and continuing story line, but the heroine Maria is so different than Megan. There was a lot of brutality in this book, which made it hard to read at times, but Maria was strong and courageous and never gave up. I don’t want to give too much of the book away as some reviews seem to, so just know that it was romantic and original. Keep in mind that books heroine survives a lot, and more sensitive readers might find those parts hard to read.

Good, well developed series

this book is the second in a series that reads well as a stand alone book, but is better after reading book 1. I thought at e beginning g of e series at it would be just another "planet with few females steals earth females" book (though I will still read those), but it has enough twists to make it interesting, and the second book in series was unique enough that I have already bought book three to read next.

Captive

It was just as good as the first. I loved the characters and the interaction between them was very good. The world building continued to give you more details about their lives and how they live it. Thank you for a great second book Ms. B.D. Snowden. I can't wait for the next in this series.

Too invasive

The experiments and how much was lost...I loved the first book and this one began so well. Then the story got evil-ed up and the humour disappeared. I wanted them to have it all and that was just not part of the plan.

I liked the first in this series but this one is better. You learn more about the culture and a lot of action. Nice romance also.

Interesting concept.

Fast moving adventure featuring a strong heroine in Megan, asserting her rights against an alpha male of an alien race.

The second book in the Vukasin Saga is very different from the first as it takes a darker path. Being female on this planet is a curse. Women are basically breeding stock and a successful birth means you get passed on to another to be re-breed. Consent and love is a luxury, a footnote in history and for those that can't handle reading of or even the implication of non-consensual sex - stop reading now.

Like its title 'Captive', our heroine is kidnapped, tortured, beaten, caged and raped. She survives physically and mentally while many do not. In her case being a prior victim and survivor helped.

Her eventual rescue comes at a huge price. Vukasin is a harsh and barbarous lab experiment of a world that rarely emits a glimmer of light.
