“Adventure Time Comics Vol. 1” is the perfect comic collection for beginning readers. All of the beloved characters from the show are there, and the stories are short but fun. Each story features a different artistic style, so it is also a good introduction to the world of comics in general. Of course, it isn’t just for kids!

I love Adventure Time but this wasn't what I thought it was. This was just a collection of random mini comics from various artists and some of them were only like 2 pages long.

I have to be honest. I have never read or seen adventure time until now. This is probably not the best book for a novice. I say this because it is a collection of comic shorts by various people across the world. For example Art Balthazar does the first comic about the toothpaste fairy. If you liked the Tiny Titans, then you would love that comic. There are some dark ones in the style of Prince Valiant etc. I think those who already know and love the series, will love this book. As for me, it was just okay.

This graphic novel was cute. It features mini stories by loads of different authors - there must have been at least 12 different stories in here. Each contributor used a different art style which was quite cool to see different perspectives on the characters we already know and love.

Shorts from creators who can't necessarily commit to a whole issue but nonetheless want a chance to play in Ooo, and who can blame them? Kelly Thompson, Tony Millionaire, Veronica Fish (whose two pages are maybe the most beautiful thing here), Jim Zub...a lot of the contributions are fairly slight, but they're generally sweet with it. The real problem only arises in a couple of stories where the characters are drawn vaguely realistically, with noses and such, which I always find unsettling.

As with any anthology-style collection, you're going to have stories that are amazing and some that are okay and some you don't really connect to. This one was no exception. Some of the stories were so great I didn't want them to end while others were just alright. There were none that I completely hated and they all had their own charm.

I will say that this is one of the most fun in terms of artwork. It was so cool to see those beloved characters in various forms with each artist's rendering. All of the artwork was amazing. It took me a little bit to get used to the idea of changing the original style of the characters, but by the end I just loved the artwork and all of the reimaginings of the characters and the Land of Ooo.

The two that stood out the most to me were Greg Smallwood's "The Greatest Warrior Ever" (damn, that one was so good) and Marguerite Sauvage's "Lost in Space". Also, shout out to Art Baltazar and Evgeny Yakovlev for some adorably amazing artwork.

Overall, a good book for fans of Adventure Time. This one would probably be a bit hard to follow for those who haven't seen the show or at least have a passing knowledge of the characters/premise. I already got the second volume and am excited to read more.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

This is a collection of short comics that take place in the Adventure Time world. Each comic is a just a few pages long and each one is written and drawed by a different author.

The art is generally top notch for each comic, and each author use their own personal style to convey their vision of Adventure Time. I perticularly liked the realistic and detailed style of Greg Smallwood in "The Greatest Warrior Ever".

The problem with this anthology is that the format does a diservice to the authors of the comics and the stories they produced. Adventure Time became popular thanks to its humor, but it was also the development of its characters and of its plot that made it quality TV. Here, the authors are limited to just a few pages to tell a story. They cannot develop plot or character. So humor is the main focus of the comics.

All the authors try to do humor, but most often the joke fell flat. It isn't easy to match the humor of another author's series and to understand the desgin hilosophy behind it. Just being silly isn't what made Advetnure Time popular. The comics would have benefited from scripts from Pendleton Ward, the creator of the popular series.

I do not recommend this comic anthology unless the person is a diehard Adventure Time fan and collector.

This anthology has a really cute feel to it. Every story has a different artist, but the cuteness is maintained throughout the book. I specifically love Katie Cook and Sophia Foster-Dimino’s art. I also love the party bears in the BMO Deluxe issue. The Veronica Fish issue is beautiful, as well. I will say that some of these stories felt like they weren’t quite detailed enough and were more just filler. However, I think the book overall was fairly entertaining and enjoyable. I would recommend it for any fans of the Adventure Time series. I was provided a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is such a fun collection - it's super short stories written and illustrated by a bunch of different people. This means that you get to experience Adventure Time from a bunch of different perspectives and in different illustration styles (one of my favorite things). Despite the different writers, the collection maintains the spirit and quirkiness of the show, and they really nailed the characterizations. If you enjoy the one-off little stories in the back of collections, this will be right up your alley.

This was one of my #GettingGraphic reads and it's an anthology of different short stories and artists set in the Adventure Time world. Because of the nature of the anthology there was a range of good and not as good so I ended up rating this just 3*s. It's a likeable read and there were a few stories that did stand out, but as they are all so very short it's hard to really get into and enjoy. I doubt I'll read more in the anthology series, as I think it was just a mixed bag, but I will for sure continue to enjoy the main series and read those :)

This comic collection spotlights a variety of authors and artists trying their hand at crafting fun stories for the Adventure Time characters. The comics differ widely in terms of style, theme, and length, but the characters are always recognizable. It's nice to see how this series has inspired so many creative people, and it makes me want to try my hand at drawing the characters, too. I wouldn't say that it's essential reading for Adventure Time fans by any means, but I am glad that I gave it a try. I hope to read more of the comic collections soon and to branch out into the other graphic novels set in the AT universe.

Fun lil shorts collected together. absolutely non-sequitur stuff, not to be confused with the _other_ Adventure Time comicbooks line
Some art is utterly ridiculous (Finn's lullaby), some utterly amazing and I need 3 seasons and a movie of (Marceline & Bubblegum Lost In Space)
Couple other fav shorts - Good Shelf (looks like it came straight from the show) and Greatest Warrior Ever (if gritty realistic artstyle, yeah!)

There's also the full covers gallery in the back.

This book was totally DOPE! It perfectly captured the humor and authenticity of the TV Show while featuring gorgeous visuals. I also like the fact that each short story/segment had its own unique drawing/art style. Not one segment was like the other and that’s where the power of this book comes from. I can’t wait to read other installments and lost myself in the land of Ooo!!!

I’ve been trying to get more into graphic novels, and this looked like a fun one to pick up! However, the problem with this was that I’ve never seen the show. So the characters were all unknown to me. But that being sat aside, some of the short graphic novels in it were just not my style, boring, and I skipped over.

This collection of mini stories by various artists shows how flexible the Adventure Time universe is. This isn't for someone new to the franchise, but for those who are familiar with it, there is something for everyone. Some of the stories are better than others, as one would expect in an anthology like this, but all are creative and imaginative, although probably not canonical.

I loved the diversity of art styles in this book! The realistic ones are especially funny since the characters are usually super cartoony! All these stories are great, and I could totally see them happening on the show.

Cute collection of short comics by a bunch of different cartoonists featuring original AT stories. About as lightweight and uneven as you'd expect from such a thing, but fun sleepytime fodder overall.

Pretty much what it says on the tin; some entries are stronger than others. The main draws are the fact that it’s Adventure Time content, and to see the different art styles. A neat read if you’re a big fan but not required reading imo.
