Cabrera, Jane. Hello Lamb, BOARD BOOK. Little Bee Books. $7.99.
Baby animals wake up with the sun to say hello and greet the day. Each animal makes its own sound to get ready to play. The very last baby is a baby human, who says, “Goo, goo!” This is a really cute, simple board book that will definitely get the attention of any baby. The animal faces are large and the pastel colors are very appealing.

This is an animal and animal sounds primer. It begins with the sun, but quickly moves into baby farm animals, their forms only their round faces, and their greeting paired with their sound. “Hello, piglet. Oink Oink.” It ends on the image of a baby. The round-faced illustrations are bright and eye-catching without being overwhelmingly bright.
Oh, my mother told me if you cannot say something nice say nothing at all. Well, sometimes you just have to speak. WHO ILLUSTRATED THIS BOOK??? Please tell me if the Dog looks like a Dog? I am concerned if we share this book with children they will forever run from dogs. Use this book as a coffee coaster, if you read it please be prepared for screaming children.
Ada (my 5 month old granddaughter) and I have been reading this book a lot this week. As soon as she sees the face on the cover she gets excited. She reaches out and wants to get as close as possible to the images and turns to look at me weirdly if I get into the animal sounds while reading. We are both enjoying this series!
Such a sweet book that teaches wee ones the names of baby animals with precious illustrated round faces of each baby animal along with the sounds they make which reinforces the visual/auditory connection.
My little girl (currently 19 months old) loves this book. It's simple words allow her to speak and memorize the pages. The images are uncomplicated drawings of friendly animal faces which also resonate with little children.
Time to wake up and greet the day! Along the same lines as Anita Lobel's Hello Day. The reader says hello and there are animals sounds to say. The animals are just faces and not full bodies. It's a cute read to share with littles. Animals in the book include: chick, piglet, puppy, frog, calf, bunny, lamb, and bee. A great mix of creatures to share.
Nothing super special, very simple book in which we say hello to all different animals with their sounds. Board book. Cute pictures. Would work for a storytime with very little ones (0-2) for Hello theme or Spring theme. I'll probably use it.
