Hi! I’m Daisy Dreamer and my totally true imaginary friend Posey invited me to his amazing world of make believe! Oh, and you’re totally invited, too!
Remember me? Daisy Dreamer? Of course you do, silly! And you remember my totally true imaginary friend, Posey, too. Obviously! But did you know that Posey comes from a totally true imaginary world! You won’t believe the things that live there, like sparkle fairies, pretty pixies, ghosts, and cloud critters, just to name a few. And guess what! They all have a story to tell. And guess who’s going to tell it. Yep, that’s right. Me, Daisy Dreamer, the girl with her head in the clouds.
With easy-to-read language and illustrations on almost every page, the Daisy Dreamer chapter books are perfect for emerging readers.
Unfortunately, this one wasn't nearly as good as the first one was for me. In this book, Daisy's imaginary friend that she drew (Posey) takes her to his world of make believe. There she meets a unicorn cloud that has lost her melody and they all go through the various parts of the world to try to find it. This seemed a little unorganized and unfocused. It started off very magical but got a little meh.
Daisy enters the Land of Make-believe with her imaginary. They meet Andever the unicorn that has lost her melody and embark on a quest to find it meeting an assortment of characters along the way.
Daisy Dreamer heads to the World of Make-Believe (WOM) with her new friend Posey. There the two make a new friend, Andever, who is a cloud unicorn. Andever is sad because she's lost her melody. Posey and Daisy agree to help her and go on a journey through the amazing and peculiar WOM to find Andever's melody.
Very cute and imaginative book for lower grade readers. There are lots of pictures and the font size is quite large, making the book very accessible to relatively new or reluctant readers. Many readers will be happy to know this book does not end on a cliff-hanger like book one did, but it does leave things open for further adventures with Posey and Daisy. I found some of the interactions between characters a little too simplistic, like they go from being wary of each other to being best friends in a matter of seconds, but it is quite a short book so there isn't a whole lot of time to develop interpersonal relationships much. And the focus of the book is definitely the weird and wonderful places in the WOM. Hand this to lower grade readers who have good imaginations and love cute stuff.
Notes on content: Posey and Daisy meet some Moonsturs which are extremely similar to the Monsters of Monsters Inc., so they are supposed to be scary but in reality aren't so bad. Then they meet some ghosts later on, who are more pranksters than scary. And they do only exist in the World of Make-Believe so they aren't technically real to Daisy. But if kids just can't handle ghosts you may want to skip this book and go to the next Daisy Dreamer book. I think you can do that and not be horribly lost.
3.5 stars. A book for my niece, who turns 7 next week. I think she'll like this imaginative story of a little girl who goes into the world of make-believe with her imaginary friend, and must help a cloud unicorn find her song. In the search, they encounter various creatures. Nothing very scary in the story. The premise reminded me of a favorite series my mom read to me when I was a child, Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree books about four cousins who visit various magic lands by climbing a ladder at the top of a tree in the woods. Daisy Dreamer is a brief chapter book, and I think it will work as a level 3 reader. Black and white illustrations throughout make it a nice transition from picture books for young readers. A shame the illustrations aren't in color, because I think that would enhance the story.
Second book in the Daisy Dreamer series with her true imaginary friend and all sorts of other strange happenings, there is a certain charm to the book, and it is very readable, but on some level also fairly forgettable. You will remember Daisy and her friend but the specific of the plot will melt away from your mind very quickly.
I read Daisy Dreamer and the World of Make-Believe with my 7-year-old; this is around the age group that the book is targeting. Although I cannot say that I enjoyed it that much, I did like the vocabulary the character of Daisy used and it allowed my daughter to work on her expression when reading.
Memang menarik..
Yep, had to read this one right away! Daisy is transported to the World of Make-Believe and has fun adventures there with her new imaginary friends, Posey and Andever. My 7 year old is loving this series!
I loved that Daisy got to go to Posey's imaginary world, the adventures in the book were fun and Daisy got to meet new imaginary friends. The pictures in the book were very cute also. Norah, age 6
A sparkling little fantasy featuring Daisy Dreamer... Andever has lost her melody and Daisy helps her find it. Fast moving, simple sentences, charming illustrations and a very whimsical font. Came highly recommended by an 8 year old girl!
